    I. "What's Up Doc?"/Plot

Welcome to the outskirts of Toonsville L.A. At least, that's how most people tend to think of the neighbors of Toonsville. Here the people work hard for dirt pay in the slums or party hardy with the movie stars. Smoking in public is still legal, liquor was recently legalized, and the entertainment business is booming thanks to the toons.

Shortly before cartoons was the discovery of toons. Toons are cartoony, funny, chaotic characters with the collective sole goal of entertaining people, mainly through laughter. No one is quite sure where they came from, yet. The toons memories were wiped as to the origin of their existence. When they were found, originally, the human race wanted to slaughter them. They were deemed dangerous, (although not a single toon has killed a human), and too different from any other form of life. However, the government soon discovered that… there was no way to kill a toon. Instead the government made an agreement with the toons to have their own stretch of land in L.A. called Toonsville. In which the toons were able to be free and do as they wished. The toons also asked that they have a way to entertain the humans, to make them laugh. It was agreed that as long as they were managed by someone in the entertainment business the toons were allowed to come out of Toonsville to entertain, but they wouldn't be treated equals.

That is where the owner of Cartoony Toons came in. As the highest bidder the owner spent most of its money buying Toonsville, seeing its potential, and using the rest to film. It was an overnight success. Both kids and adults loved the toons! Soon the owner hired out willing toons to work at bars, other studios, live action theater, started a single gentlemen's club for the more sultry cartoon characters with very strict guidelines, and all sorts of other entertainment jobs. The owner was fair and kind to his toons.

Unlike the toons, however, the general public living near Toonsville is not so kind. Many find the toons to be a racket, unworthy of equality, and worth nothing more than their entertainment purposes. Some people wish they would just stay in Toonsville. They are being won over slowly through the power of laughter, but it will take time. Till then many of the residents treat the toons rather poorly.

A villain has appeared though not many care since it doesn't concern humans. It has been abducting toons. The owner of Cartoony Toons is outraged that someone would abduct toons. As an active person advocating the rights of toons he asks the police to get involved. The law enforcement refused, commenting, "We don't get involved in funny business." He turns to a newly established detective agency, the only ones who are fighting for the rights of toons. Many, however, are unaware of the real threat bubbling to the surface and threatening the world as they know it.

II. "I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam."/Character Descriptions

You can either make your own character with the help of the following descriptions or pick one from the character roles.

Cartoon Character Description: Toons tend to be very funny, crave to entertain people, and love puns. Usually they are eccentric, chaotic balls of energy that defy all laws of life including death, and gravity. They wouldn't kill people though, because that's not funny. There are other more sultry toons who may or may not be more toned down in chaotic energy levels than other toons but still desire to entertain, show people a good time. The life goal of any toon is to entertain. They can feel emotions just like humans, including love. They can be most any shape or size. Find inspiration through old cartoons such as Loony Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Bonkers, and Woody the Woodpecker.

Humans: Other than the character roles, humans can have any number of personalities, occupations, and views of the toons. However, humans are still humans. They aren't toons. They die. They age. They are bound by gravity. Like toons, however, they are controlled by the government, life goals, and dreams.

III. "What in the name of what's-its-name are you doing?"/Roles

He keeps the ownership of Toonsville so it doesn't fall in the wrong hands. As owner he is the only one that can hire toons or let toons be hired out to others. He does this to try to keep toons safe but in doing so he also limits toons freedom to find their own work. Unknowingly he has worked with the main villain before (whom has not yet been revealed), long before the detectives were established. He is constantly at risk of being harassed for ownership of Toonsville.
    Position: Owner of Disney
Goal: To take over ownership of Toonsville to enslave toons for constant movie productions and labor.
Necessary Note: Owner of Disney is out to get ownership of Toonsville at any cost. Despises having to pay so much and pamper toons due to Cartoony Toons wishes. Believes toons to be slaves, nothing more.
    Position: The Collector
Goal: To kidnap all the Toons and laminate them for the person's personal collection of still framed toons.
Necessary Note: The Collector has an absolute obsession with toons. It is a human dressed as a toon, acts like a toon as much as humanly possible, and possibly believes itself to be a real toon.

More roles will be coming soon!

IV. "...I already promised the moon to GIR."/Places
    The Ink and Paint Club
A classy joint where toons serve drinks, perform on stage through a variety of acts, and serve customers. People come for a laugh, entertainment, and the toons favorite pun "Scotch on the rocks."

The Sketch On Rocks, known simply as "Sketches"
A creaky old bar that used to be a speakeasy. Not many come around to Sketches since it's in the bad part of town and toons aren't employed there. It's where those in poverty come to swill their realities away.

    Toonsville Detective Agency
Located near The Sketch on Rocks is the recently purchased duo detective's office. The space is small with three rooms. It contains the office, a side room for storage, and a small kitchen. There is a bathroom but unfortunately it's not exactly in working order. The toilet seems to have been clogged for quite a long time.

    Toonsville
Toonsville is a large area that is boarded up with a giant wall of brick. There is only one way in or out which is down Toonsville Street through an archway. Inside the world seems to be constantly changing, chaotic, and fun. Everything seems to be a toon, including the very buildings. However, each time one enters they are greeted with a welcoming song from the residents nearby the entrance. But, be careful. Humans aren't toons and toons can be very dangerous without meaning to be.

More places will be added soon!

    • Character death is allowed except for toons at this time.
    • If you fail to post at least once per week I'll try to contact you and see if you're still interested in participating. After the second missed week in a row your character will be written out of the rp.
    • Post your sign up (SU) sheet in the OOC for consideration.
    • Please incorporate the quote "I'm just drawn that way" at the top of your SU post so I know you looked over the rules.
    • Pay attention to posts that will be cropping up. I will be posting "Newspaper" posts about events happening concerning the toons and people in the community to help give the rp direction and interest. Incorporate them into your post when appropriate.
    • I completely agree with and encourage all players to uphold the following statement: "Above all else be friendly. RPs can't thrive without friendly players who encourage and interact with one another. Any new or inexperienced RPers are encouraged to ask questions.
