I mean, is there anyway to remove then switch the current hero sprite into another in-game by script?

i think zelos means switching the sprite itself, i.e. having possibly two different heroes

I know the overworld change is a function that is present in JPAN's engine. Since it's present in JPAN's engine I'm pretty sure it's a feature in the CFRU as well.

How you can implement it is probably explained in the manual of the CFRU.
