  • POKEMON STORM SILVER - 0 EXP RUN
    qtRbPZB.png

CSS inspired by Starlight and Juno

It's been a while since I've last posted (just been lurking for couple of months) and wanted to start a new Pokemon challenge run so I have something else to do while waiting for the Switch to charge. Anyways... experience points are such a vital resource in any Pokemon game, after all gaining levels results in higher stats, better moves, and most importantly evolution. So what happens when you nothing gives you experience and you get locked out on Pokemon's primary way of progression? This 0 exp run will be done on Pokemon Storm Silver, which is one of the easier romhacks out there and one I have the most experience with.

    Rules

    • Game will be played with a "cheat" that sets ALL exp gain to 0
    • The run will end once I've beaten Red
    • Set Mode
    • Legendary Pokemon are banned
    • No consumable items allowed in battle
    • Only 1 of each Pokemon may be on the party at a time (ie: I cannot have 2 Rattatas in the party, though I can catch 1 Rattata and then a different Rattata later on)
    • Battle Frontier is banned (it opens up once you beat Jasmine, and if I do grind it that will mean I have a supply of Rare Candies which defeats the purpose of the run)
    • Rare Candies found in the overworld are allowed

  • UPDATE #1

      [tab=journal]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Began my adventure
    - Chose Totodile as my starter
    - Headed off to see Mr. Pokemon
    - Got stopped by the tour guide at Cherrygrove city, obtained the Old Rod from him after finishing the tour
    - Cynthia hands me an Eevee outside of Mr. Pokemon's house, received the mystery egg from Mr. Pokemon and headed back to New Bark Town
    - Got stopped by Silver on the way back and owned him, handed off the egg and headed towards Violet City
    - Caught Shinx and Houndour on Route 46, and then Slugma within Dark Cave to help beat the trainers on the way to Violet City
    - Deposited everyone but Slugma and caught Magnemite and Ekans on Route 32, Unown within the Ruins of Alph and then Glameow, Gastly, and Spinda while ascending Sprout Tower
    - Swapped in Spinda and deposited Slugma before challenging Elder Li
    - After beating Elder Li, he deems us worthy to challenge Falkner and I head to the Violet City gym
    - The team I chose for Falkner are more or less the Pokemon I used in Sprout Tower. Reasonings shown below...
    • Spinda: Has been buffed to have base 80 stats, and has access to a very solid STAB Uproar this early on
    • Unown: Similarly to Spinda, Unown has had its base stats buffed across the board (base 92 Attack and Special Attack are the noteworthy ones). The Unown I caught conveniently enough has Hidden Power [Electric]
    • Magnemite: 4x resistant to Flying and has pretty solid base Special Attack with Thundershock
    • Ekans: Access to Intimidate, which is handy against Falkner's Pidgeotto and Murkrow
    • Glameow: Emergency priority user with Fake Out and is more reliable compared to Hustle Rattata's Quick Attack
    • Gastly: Switch in against Falkner's Chatot which does like to use Uproar. Hindsight, Drifloon would've been a better pick since it has Gust and the Aftermath ability
    - Beat Falkner and received the Zephyr Badge. The battle overall wasn't too difficult as Spinda pretty much did most of the work and it also helped that the Pokemon I can catch are around a the same level as his team
    - Received the egg from Elm's assistant and hatched it into the Togepi that I'll never ever use

    - Spinda demolishes Doduo, Farfetch'd and Swablu with Uproar and is able to take Farfetch'd's Aerial Ace and Swablu's Solarbeam in the process
    - Spinda does a great deal to Chatot with Uproar, but ends up going down to Chatot's Uproar
    - Sent in Gastly to stop Uproar and stall with Spite before it falls to Chatot's Chatter, sent in Magnemite which tanks Uproar and finishes Chatot off with Thundershock
    - Pidgeotto comes in and I switch out Magnemite for Unown on the incoming Mud Slap. Unown tanks 3 of Pidgeotto's Aerial Aces before it takes it down with 3 Hidden Power [Electric] attacks (would've been a 2HKO but, Pidgeotto had an Oran Berry)
    - Murkrow finishes Unown off with Faint Attack. I send in Ekans for Intimidate but, I forgot Murkrow had Haze so it resets its Attack. However, Ekans is able to get off a Leer before going down to 2 Aerial Aces
    - Glameow chips Murkrow with Fake Out and Scratch before falling to 2 Aerial Aces, Magnemite comes in and tanks Faint Attack before ending Murkrow with Thundershock

  • UPDATE #2

      [tab=journal1]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log1]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon1]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Took a detour to Route 36 to pick up HM06 Rock Smash and to the Ruins of Alph to catch a Remoraid
    - Deposited Gastly and Glameow before taking on Route 32
    - Caught a Psyduck on my way towards the Union Cave. I caught Remoraid and Psyduck to help out with the trainers within Union Cave
    - Made it through the Union Cave and ended up in Azalea Town
    - Went to the PC to store Ekans, Remoraid, and Psyduck and then poked my head into Ilex Forest to catch a Pikachu, Beedrill, and Butterfree
    - Evolved Pikachu into Raichu with the Thunderstone I received from Elder Li (normally you would use the evolutionary stone on the Eevee Cynthia gives you) and taught it Shock Wave with TM34
    - Entered Kurt's house to alert him about Team Rocket, headed inside Slowpoke Well
    - Saved the Slowpoke after rolling Team Rocket and Proton
    - Caught a Gible and Onix within the Union Cave and a higher-leveled Ekans on Route 37, then stored Magnemite, Unown and Spinda into the PC. Reasonings for the team I chose shown below...
    • Butterfree: Now has 100 base Special Attack and 80 base Speed in addition to valuable Flying STAB through Air Cutter. Ideally, I would've had one with Compoundeyes to make Sleep Powder + Air Cutter significantly more reliable but, it just meant I had to reset more if things didn't land
    • Beedrill: Has also been buffed like Butterfree, having 100 base Attack and 95 base Speed. Beedrill also has access to a variety of solid moves, the notable ones being Aerial Ace and Cross Poison
    • Raichu: The hardest hitting Electric-type at this point, also has Quick Attack and Thunder Wave for nice utility
    • Onix: Resistant to Bug and Flying while having high base Defense. Screech can potentially be useful (though I used it only a few times during my multiple trials against Bugsy)
    • Gible: Rough Skin chip damage and has access to Dragon Rage for some guaranteed solid damage (barely used Gible honestly)
    • Aron: 4x resistant to both Bug and Flying and has solid base Defense
    - Once I finished preparing, I headed towards the Azalea City gym to to challenge Bugsy
    - After many, many tries later... I receive the Hive Badge from Bugsy
    - The battle honestly is legitimately the most absurd thing I've ever had to go through. That Scyther is literally the worst possible thing to ever face this early on (Technician + Swords Dance + U-Turn + Quick Attack) and most of my team had to be catered to stop it, and then the U-Turn spam was incredibly obnoxious. I did get lucky with the critical hit on Scyther but, if the critical hit didn't happen I would've just hoped the 2nd Rock Tomb landed and then Raichu would've finished it off with Shock Wave when it came back in

    - Voltorb uses Screech as Beedrill nearly takes it out with Cross Poison. Proton then swaps Voltorb for Zubat on Beedrill's incoming Twineedle
    - I switch Beedrill for Raichu who takes Zubat's Wing Attack very well, Raichu then finishes off Zubat with Shock Wave
    - Voltorb goes down to Raichu's Quick Attack but is able to deal some damage with Aftermath
    - Koffing uses Toxic but, goes down to 2 of Raichu's Shock Waves
    - I swap out Raichu for Butterfree to tank Cacnea's Needle Arm. Butterfree sponges a critical-hit Sucker Punch and OHKOs Cacnea with Air Cutter

    - My Butterfree puts Bugsy's Butterfree to sleep with Sleep Powder before taking it out with 2 Air Cutters
    - Yanma nearly takes down Butterfree with Ancient Power. Butterfree consumes its Oran Berry and puts Yanma to sleep with Sleep Powder
    - Butterfree nearly OHKOs Yanma with Air Cutter and Bugsy heals Yanma to full. Butterfree finishes it off with 2 Air Cutters with the help of lucky sleep turns
    - I swap out Butterfree for Aron on Scyther's incoming Quick Attack. Next turn, Scyther goes for Swords Dance and Aron lands a critical-hit Rock Tomb
    - Scyther and Aron consume their Sitrus Berries and Scyther U-Turns out into Heracross to take the incoming Rock Tomb
    - I send in Butterfree as Heracross fails to use Counter, Heracross gets finished off by Air Cutter
    - Aron comes back in on Scyther's Quick Attack. Scyther then U-Turns out into Pinsir which takes the incoming Rock Tomb
    - Butterfree comes in place of Aron and Pinsir uses a weak Fury Cutter. Butterfree tanks Vital Throw and takes Pinsir out with 2 Air Cutters
    - Once again, I swap in Aron which Scyther takes out with Quick Attack.
    - Scyther uses U-Turn on Onix and goes into Beedrill which takes the incoming Rock Throw
    - I send in my own Beedrill which takes Cut very well (Cut is Grass-type in this romhack). Beedrill goes for another Cut and goes down to my own Beedrill's Aerial Ace
    - My Beedrill goes down to Scyther's Wing Attack. I send in Raichu which tanks U-Turn and KOs with Shock Wave

  • UPDATE #3

      [tab=journal3]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log3]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon3]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Got stopped by Silver as I was headed into Ilex Forest, proceeded to beat him before moving on
    - Helped the charcoal maker's apprentice rescue the runaway Farfetch'd and received HM01 Cut as a reward
    - Escorted one of the Kimono Girls out of the forest, ran into Cynthia at the gate to Route 34 and received the Odd Keystone
    - Arrived at Goldenrod City
    - Deposited Gible, Aron, Beedrill, and Onix and went north of Goldenrod City to catch more Pokemon
    - Caught a Heracross at National Park and then Vulpix, Nidorina, and Minun on Route 36. Promptly evolved Nidorina into Nidoqueen with the Moon Stone I found
    - I head into the underground area and got stopped by Lyra who challenges us to a battle
    - After beating Lyra and finished exploring the underground, I ended up backtracking all the way back to Azalea Town to throw the Odd Keystone into Slowpoke Weel to catch myself a Spiritomb
    - Headed back to Goldenrod City to find Whitney at the Radio Tower, obtained the Radio Card and unlocked access to the gym
    - Did some preparation before facing Whitney. Revived an Armor Fossil at the Archeology Center (previously the Bike Shop, you can obtain 1 of each fossil in here too) to get Shieldon, went and burned Heracross via wild Vulpix on Route 36, deposited Butterfree, Raichu and Minun and finally withdrew Onix
    - Reasonings for my current team shown below, after the preparations I headed back to the gym to challenge Whitney
    • Heracross: Access to Guts + Brick Break with high base Attack
    • Vulpix: Never actually used it but, the intent was Vulpix could live Lickitung's Body Slam and then burn it with Will-O-Wisp allowing it to be used as setup fodder (mainly for Heracross with Bulk Up if I was struggling too much). Hindsight, I could've replaced Vulpix with something else
    • Nidoqueen: Used over Nidoking mainly because it's female to ignore Attract and benefits from the damage boost from Rivalry, also has access to Dig for solid STAB
    • Onix: Brought it for the same reason I brought it for Bugsy, high base Defense, good resistances, and also access to Screech
    • Shieldon: 4x resistant to Normal and other assorted coverage moves (Ice Beam, Psychic, Rollout, etc.), access to Metal Sound (not useful here since most of my team is physical but, could've been if I replaced Vulpix) and Taunt
    • Spiritomb: Solid Normal immunity, access to Hypnosis and completely walls Stantler and Lopunny
    - Received the Plain Badge from Whitney after she stopped crying
    - Battle was overall pretty easy with Heracross and Spiritomb. Miltank was the only main issue since it outsped Heracross and could take it out with Body Slam, so I had a strategy set aside for that which ended up working out in the end
    - Received the SquirtBottle from the Flower Shop owner

    - Raichu takes Murkrow's Pursuit and takes it down with 2 Shock Waves
    - Raichu does more than half with Shock Wave before going down to Gastly's Ominous Wind. I send in Aron and Gastly takes itself out with Curse
    - Aron drops Kadabra's Speed with Rock Tomb but eventually gets taken out by Curse damage and Confusion, Beedrill finishes Kadabra off with Twineedle
    - Beedrill gets a lucky poison status onto Bayleef with Cross Poison as it goes for Reflect. Bayleef then uses Grasswhistle to put Beedrill to sleep
    - I swap out Beedrill for Butterfree as Bayleef uses Synthesis. After some back and forth between Bayleef's Synthesis spam and Butterfree's Air Cutter spam, it eventually goes down with the help of poison damage

    - Butterfree puts Nidorina to sleep and repeatedly attacks with Air Cutter. Since Nidorina got fully healed, Butterfree is unable to take it out and goes down to 2 Blizzards eventually
    - Nidoqueen uses Dig which causes Nidorina to miss Blizzard, Nidorina then goes down to Dig the turn after
    - Marill comes in and I swap out Nidoqueen for Raichu as it uses Double Team. Raichu then OHKOs Marill with a critical-hit Shock Wave
    - Ninetales OHKOs Raichu with Flamethrower and I send in Nidoqueen
    - Ninetales uses Confuse Ray but Nidoqueen cures it with a held Lum Berry and deals a great chunk to Ninetales with Dig, forcing it to consume its Sitrus Berry. After some unlucky confusion hax and Ninetales using Safeguard and Flamethrowers, Nidoqueen is only able to land another Dig before falling to Flamethrower
    - Minun tanks a Flamethrower and finishes off Ninetales with 2 Quick Attacks
    - Roselia comes in and Minun chips it with Spark before going down to Magical Leaf
    - I send in Heracross which does a lot with Aerial Ace but, gets paralyzed by Roselia's Stun Spore. Heracross gets fully paralyzed twice and is able to tank 2 Grass Knots before finishing off Roselia with another Aerial Ace

    - Swapped Heracross out to Spiritomb on Lopunny's Dizzy Punch. Whitney swaps out Lopunny for Clefable which gets put to sleep with Hypnosis
    - Heracross comes back in and Clefable wakes up to use Reflect, Brick Break OHKOs Clefable and shatters Reflect
    - Once again, swapped Heracross out to Spiritomb on Lopunny's Dizzy Punch. Whitney swaps out Lopunny for Wigglytuff which also gets put to sleep with Hypnosis
    - Brought Heracross back in and Wigglytuff stays asleep, Brick Break then OHKOs Wigglytuff
    - And again, swapped Heracross out to Spiritomb on Lopunny's Dizzy Punch. Whitney swaps out Lopunny for Miltank which does not fall asleep with Hypnosis due to its Lum Berry
    - Onix comes in on Miltank's Body Slam, Onix is able to tank multiple Body Slams and land 2 Screeches before going down to a final Body Slam
    - Nidoqueen comes in and tanks 2 Body Slams and takes Miltank out with 2 Digs
    - I swap out Nidoqueen for Spiritomb as Lopunny can't do anything to it. Lopunny uses Attract to delay the inevitable as Spiritomb takes it out with Faint Attack while it goes for Agility and crashes with Jump Kick
    - Stantler also can't do anything to Spiritomb and it goes for Attract, Spiritomb doesn't get immobilized and puts Stantler to sleep with Hypnosis

  • UPDATE #4

      [tab=journal4]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log4]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon4]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Stored Vulpix and Shieldon and withdrew Butterfree from the PC before heading out
    - Awakened and caught Sudowoodo and moved onward to Route 37
    - Arrived at Ecruteak City
    - Battled the unruly Team Rocket Grunt at the theater, received HM03 Surf
    - Went back to Route 37 to catch Ledian, Ariados and Noctowl and deposited Nidoqueen and Onix
    - Received the Dowsing Machine and headed into the Burned Tower
    - Met Eusine, Morty and Silver within the Burned Tower, Silver promptly challenges me and loses before storming off (fight was very annoying due to the amount of Rock Slide flinches)
    - Entered the basement which caused the beast trio to scatter, caught a Rattata on the floor and then evolved it into a Raticate via Rare Candy before leaving. There are wild Raticates but, none of them learn Sucker Punch or Crunch since the moves are replaced by the 3 elemental fangs
    - Had to change up my strategy for Morty a bit, so all my preparations included storing Ledian and Heracross, burning Raticate and catching a Seviper on Route 37. Reasonings shown below...
    • Raticate: Main attacker, has access to Guts-boosted Crunch and Sucker Punch with decent Speed
    • Sudowoodo: Used to break through Sableye once Seviper gets off a minimum of 2 Screeches
    • Ariados: Shadow Sneak chip damage against Gengar, has a Cheri Berry to cure Thunderbolt paralysis
    • Noctowl: Sets up Reflect so Seviper can come in on Sableye to use Screech
    • Seviper: Screech utility against Sableye, so another party member can take it out quickly before it spams Recover
    • Spiritomb: Same thing as Ariados, Shadow Sneak chip damage against Gengar and has a Cheri Berry for Thunderbolt paralysis
    - Received the Fog Badge from Morty
    - Battle was pretty easy once I came up with a better strategy against Gengar, Raticate could sweep through his team and Sableye was easy to break through with enough Defense drops from Screech

    - Sudowoodo takes Murkrow's Night Shade and OHKOs with Rock Throw
    - Swapped out Sudowoodo for Heracross as Bayleef uses Nature Power which turns into Rock Slide. Heracross chunks with Bug Bite and Bayleef goes for another Rock Slide
    - Bayleef switches out into Magby which takes the incoming Bug Bite, and I swap out Heracross for Sudowoodo on the following turn to take Ember
    - Magby uses Smokescreen and gets taken out by Sudowoodo's Rock Throw
    - Bayleef comes in and I swap out Sudowoodo into Heracross as it sets up Reflect. Nature Power flinches Heracross, next turn Bayleef uses Magical Leaf and Heracross shatters Reflect with Brick Break
    - Silver randomly takes back Bayleef and sends in Kadabra as I misclicked Brick Break, Heracross goes down to Confusion
    - Another very random switch occurs, Silver takes back Kadabra and sends in Haunter on my Spiritomb which goes down to 2 Shadow Sneaks
    - I swap out Spiritomb for Sudowoodo as Bayleef sets up Reflect. I send in Noctowl on the Magical Leaf, and it takes a lot from Nature Power afterwards before setting up my own Reflect for Ariados... just for Ariados to go down to a critical hit Nature Power when it comes in after Noctowl goes down to Nature Power
    - Ledian finishes off Bayleef with Ice Punch (must've speed tied since in previous attempts Bayleef outsped)
    - Kadabra blocks off Ledian's Ice Punch with Disable as it goes for Dizzy Punch, Ledian then tanks Psybeam and ends Kadabra with Dizzy Punch

    - Morty swaps out Duskull for Shuppet but it gets OHKOed by Raticate's Crunch
    - Haunter uses Mean Look and Raticate takes it down with a critical-hit from Crunch
    - Gengar comes in and I swap out into Ariados which barely survives Thunderbolt. Shadow Sneak chips Gengar before it goes down to another Thunderbolt
    - Spiritomb uses 2 Shadow Sneaks onto Gengar, forcing it to consume its Sitrus Berry before falling to 2 Shadow Balls
    - Raticate finishes off Gengar with Sucker Punch
    - Misdreavus tanks Raticate's Crunch and uses Power Gem but goes down to another Crunch
    - I swap out Raticate for Noctowl who tanks Sableye's Aerial Ace. Noctowl sets up Reflect as Sableye uses Torment
    - I bring in Seviper the next turn which also comes in on Sableye's Aerial Ace. Seviper is able to weaken Sableye's Defense with 2 Screeches before it falls to Shadow Claws
    - Sableye uses Torment as Sudowoodo uses Rock Throw, Sudowoodo then tanks Shadow Claw and finishes off Sableye with Faint Attack
    - Duskull comes back in and I swap out into Raticate as Duskull fails to use Will-O-Wisp
    - Raticate does a lot with Crunch and Duskull uses Confuse Ray. Luckily, Raticate breaks through the confusion and ends Duskull with another Crunch

  • UPDATE #5

      [tab=journal5]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log5]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon5]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Stored Spiritomb, Ariados, and Seviper into the PC and withdrew Ledian
    - Steven tells us all about the legendary Plates at the Route 38 gate before leaving
    - Caught a Luxio and then Electabuzz plus Dodrio with the Meridian Sound on Route 38
    - Encountered Baoba right before entering Route 39 who tells us about the upcoming Safari Zone
    - Ran into Silver once I've arrived at Olivine City, promptly tells us off before leaving
    - Stored Ledian, Raticate, and Noctowl into the PC
    - Received the Good Rod at the café
    - Caught a Staryu and Tentacruel on Route 40 before tackling the Olivine Lighthouse, evolved Staryu into Starmie with a Water Stone purchased from the Department Store
    - Reached the top and agreed to help Jasmine cure Amphy before going back down
    - Backtracked to areas previously blocked off by water to explore (Union Cave, Ruins of Alph, etc.). Also caught a Slowbro via surfing in Slowpoke Well and Sableye in the depths of Union Cave
    - Resumed the story and arrived at Cianwood City after crossing Route 40 and 41
    - Withdrew Sableye and stored Electabuzz, headed north to find Suicune
    - Suicune runs away and Eusine shows up to battle us for Suicune's approval. Obviously, Eusine loses and then leaves
    - Headed into the gym to challenge Chuck. Besides swapping around a few items, I'll be using the same team against Chuck that I used against Eusine. As always, explanations will be shown below...
    • Slowbro: The main powerhouse of the team, normally it has Zen Headbutt but I decided to use my one and only Psychic TM until Kanto since Slowbro will be sticking around for awhile. It's also physically bulky, resists Fighting and hits hard with Psychic
    • Tentacruel: Sort of a filler mon, it's kind of there as a safe switch-in and it also hits decently hard with Surf
    • Starmie: Secondary sweeper if Slowbro goes down due to STAB Psybeam and it's also fast
    • Sableye: Safe switch-in due to immunity to Fighting, has 2 forms of emergency priority if necessary
    • Luxio: Intimidate bot
    • Dodrio: Another filler mon, it can deal with Chuck's Breloom and it can also work as a revenge killer if needed due to its Speed
    - Received the Storm Badge from Chuck
    - Obtained HM02 Fly from Chuck's wife once I left the gym
    - Headed into the Cianwood pharmacy to get the SecretPotion for Amphy

    - Eusine withdraws Hypno and sends in Rotom on Sableye's Shadow Sneak
    - Sableye attacks with Shadow Sneak as Rotom misses Will-O-Wisp, Rotom goes down to one last Shadow Sneak the turn after
    - Electrode comes in and I swap out into Dodrio which is sacrificed to Thunder (hindsight, should've sacked Starmie)
    - I send in Slowbro and Electrode misses Thunder and gets chunked by Psychic. The next Thunder lands but, Slowbro survives and Electrode goes down to a second Psychic (if Thunder landed twice, Luxio comes in, survives Thunder and KOs with Night Slash)
    - Jumpluff fails to knock out Slowbro with Aerial Ace and gets hit with Psychic, the next Aerial Ace takes out Slowbro
    - Tentacruel comes in and takes down Jumpluff with 3 Surfs after tanking 2 Aerial Aces and dodging Leech Seed
    - Hypno comes back and I swap Tentacruel out into Sableye, as Hypno cannot do anything to it
    - After getting inconveniently stalled by Hypno using Hypnosis, it eventually goes down to Sableye's barrage of Shadow Sneaks

    - I send in Slowbro which easily tanks Poliwrath's Surf. Poliwrath fires off another Surf and Slowbro retaliates with Psychic, taking it low enough where Poliwrath has to consume its Sitrus Berry
    - Poliwrath unfortunately misses Hypnosis and goes down to Slowbro's Psychic
    - I swap out Slowbro for Luxio on Breloom to get Intimidate off and it gets put to sleep via Spore. Luxio goes down to Mach Punch
    - Dodrio tanks Breloom's Mach Punch and OHKOs with Aerial Ace
    - Primeape comes back and takes down Dodrio with Thunder Punch. I send in Starmie which finishes it off with Psybeam
    - Hitmonchan comes in and I have Starmie accidentally use Surf as Hitmonchan sets up Substitute. Starmie breaks the decoy with Psybeam and tanks Ice Punch; Hitmonchan goes down to another Psybeam on the following turn

    - Hitmonlee gets some chip damage off with Fake Out. Next turn, Starmie hits hard with Psybeam and Hitmonlee uses Bounce
    - Starmie gets paralyzed from Bounce and fails to outspeed Hitmonlee which goes for another Bounce, Starmie goes down once Hitmonlee comes back down

  • UPDATE #6

      [tab=journal6]JOURNAL[/tab] ✦ [tab=log6]BATTLE LOGS[/tab] ✦ [tab=pokemon6]OTHER POKEMON[/tab]

    - Flew back to Olivine City to deliver the SecretPotion to Jasmine
    - Amphy is now cured and the lighthouse is now functional again, Jasmine then heads back to the gym
    - As soon as I leave the lighthouse, Baboa calls and tells us that the Safari Zone at Cianwood City is now open... before Team Rocket attacks him during the call
    - Flew back to Cianwood City to stop the Team Rocket's Safari Zone invasion (the Olivine City gym will be blocked off by a Rocket Grunt unless you do this romhack event)
    - Battled my way through the Safari Zone entrance and ended up on Route 47
    - Helped Mira and Buck battle some Rocket Grunts in 2 multi battles. After defeating and forcing them to retreat, the mysterious boulder blocking the entrance to the Cliff Cave magically crumbles
    - Decided to update my team by storing Dodrio and catching a Steelix and Golbat within the Cliff Cave
    - Rocket Executive Petrel blocks the exit of the Cliff Cave, so we have to challenge him in order to get him to move
    - I get into 2 more multi- battles against the Rocket Grunts once I left the Cliff Cave, partnered up with Cheryl and Marley this time before moving on to Route 48
    - Withdrew Golbat and stored Luxio, headed back to the Safari Zone and Rocket Executive Ariana blocks the way to Route 48
    - After beating Ariana, I'm able to head into the Safari Zone Gate
    - As I go to heal in my team up at the Pokemon Center, the Nurse Joy turned out to be a Rocket Grunt posing as her and then Archer shows up to challenge us as recompence for ruining his plans
    - Luckily for me, Riley shows up to stop the 2v1 and Archer tells us to meet him at the entrance to the Safari Zone building
    - Before facing off Archer, I decided to store Sableye and catch a Farfetch'd (which has buffed base stats and is now Flying/Fighting) to replace it
    - I head to the Safari Zone building to challenge Archer and his lackey to a multi-battle alongside Riley
    - After Archer has been defeated, Team Rocket retreats from the Safari Zone
    - Riley lets us know that the Battle Frontier is now open and all the NPCs return to their rightful places

    - Luxio Intimidates Raticate allowing it to barely survive Hyper Fang. Luxio chips Raticate with Spark before going down to Flame Wheel
    - Raticate misses a Hyper Fang and Tentacruel goes for Surf. Tentacruel is able to tank 2 Hyper Fangs and take Raticate out with 2 additional Surfs
    - Golbat finishes off Tentacruel with Wing Attack. Slowbro comes in and gets put to Sleep with Hypnosis, next turn Golbat attacks with Wing Attack but Slowbro wakes up right away and OHKOs it with Psychic
    - I swap out Slowbro for Sableye who tanks Skuntank's Night Slash. Sableye chips Skuntank with Fake Out and Shadow Sneak before falling to another Night Slash
    - Steelix survives Skuntank's Flamethrower and does heavy damage with Dig, however it goes down to another Flamethrower. Starmie revenge KOs Skuntank with Surf
    - Starmie does a lot to Weezing with Psybeam before going down to Thunder, Slowbro barely tanks Thunder and finishes off Weezing with Psychic

    - Slowbro tanks Arbok's Gunk Shot and OHKOs it with Psychic
    - Slowbro goes down to Vileplume's Petal Dance and I send in Golbat
    - Golbat puts Vileplume to sleep with Hypnosis and then uses Fly on the next turn while it stays asleep. Golbat deals over half with Fly and Vileplume wakes up and attacks with Sludge Bomb
    - Golbat uses Fly again dodging Vileplume's Sludge Bomb and taking it out the subsequent turn
    - Jynx finishes off Golbat with Psychic and I send in Sableye
    - Sableye does great damage with Shadow Sneak and is able to dodge Jynx's Blizzard, Jynx goes down to another Shadow Sneak the turn after (Starmie would survive any attack, had Chesto Berry for Lovely Kiss and would've finished it off with 2 Swifts)
    - Sableye chips Honchkrow with Shadow Sneak and goes down to Brave Bird
    - Honchkrow uses Swagger on Steelix but it cures the confusion with Lum Berry and attacks with Slam. Honchkrow uses Swagger again but, Steelix breaks through the confusion and finishes off Honchkrow with a second Slam

    - Riley's Absol immediately goes down to Close Combat from Archer's Zangoose, Farfetch'd tanks the Scyther's Slash and uses Agility
    - Riley sends in Lucario and Farfetch'd sets up with Swords Dance. Scyther uses Double Team as Zangoose uses Close Combat on Lucario, which barely hangs on and retaliates with Aura Sphere to knock out Zangoose
    - Farfetch'd goes up into the sky with Fly which allows it to dodge Gyarados' Ice Fang. Lucario deals quite a bit to Scyther with Blaze Kick as Scyther goes for another Double Team
    - Farfetch'd comes back down to deal some damage to Gyarados and Lucario somehow lands another Blaze Kick which takes down Scyther. Fortunately, Gyarados misses Ice Fang onto one of us.
    - Farfetch'd uses Fly again and Lucario takes down Mawile with Aura Sphere, unfortunately Gyarados uses Ice Fang onto Lucario which finishes it off
    - Riley sends in his Ursaring, Farfetch'd descends from the sky to deal a little bit more damage to Gyarados before going down to Gyarados' Ice Fang. Ursaring uses Avalanche onto Gyarados and Granbull uses Rage onto Ursaring
    - Gyarados dodges Slowbro's Psychic with Bounce and it easily tanks Granbull's Lick, Ursaring attacks Granbull with Avalanche
    - Gyarados descends and deals quite a bit to Ursaring as Granbull uses another weak Lick onto Slowbro. Unfortunately, Gyarados barely survives a double teamed attack from Slowbro's Psychic and Ursaring's Avalanche
    - Ursaring goes down to Waterfall from Gyarados and Granbull uses Lick onto Slowbro which gets the paralysis annoyingly enough. Slowbro doesn't fully paralyzed and takes out Gyarados and nearly takes down Granbull with Surf
    - Slowbro somehow survives Houndoom's Faint Attack and Granbull's Lick, it also doesn't get fully paralyzed and is able to get off another Surf which deals great damage to Houndoom and takes out Granbull
    - Houndoom finishes off Slowbro with Thunder Fang
    - Houndoom randomly goes for Will-O-Wisp onto Tentacruel rather than Thunder Fang, and Tentacruel ends the battle with Surf
