  • Basic Rules:
-All games are accepted for this challenge, roms and hacks
-NO HACKING OR TRADING, the limited options is part of the challenge in this game
-You've beat the challenge once you beat the E4
-You may use one legendary if it qualifies for your team, but only one
-Please reply to this thread before you start, keep us updated, and then post when you're a champion

    Challenge Rules
-In Game of Thrones many battles are fought by noble families whether it be for justice or power, in this game you'll pick which house and sigil you wish to represent on your Pokemon adventure. Depending on which sigil you fly your team will be limited.

    Sigil Rules
As you'll see when looking at the different houses you'll be expected to pick a Pokemon represented by your sigil. For example if you pick Stark you must have a canine Pokemon on your team. If there is no Pokemon in your chosen game that can represent your sigil this is the only time your allowed to hack one in (Meowth for Red version if you pick Lannister is all I'm thinking). Though you may have more than 1 of Pokemon that fall under your Sigil qualifications the first one you obtain is your mascot and it must always be the #1 Pokemon in your party. If that Pokemon faints, you must shut your game off and continue from where you saved last. Revives don't count. Enjoy the Elite 4. The law of the sigil isn't in effect til you have the sigil Pokemon, BUT the second you encounter the Pokemon that qualifies you must capture it and use it. You must have your sigil before the 5th gym. If you can't meet these requirements than you may hack or trade.

    House Stark
    Location: The Cold North
    Sigil: A Direwolf
    Motto: Winter is Coming

If you choose to represent the Cold North your team must reflect it. You're use to the bitter cold, so all ice types are available for you to use. It is mandatory, however, for your sigil to be properly put to use. You must have a canine Pokemon on your team, and no matter what they should always be the first in your party's slot, and if your wolf dies in battle, you have brought dishonor, you shall shut your game off and continue from when you last saved. (So save often). Other Pokemon allowed: Wards: Any Pokemon given to you as a gift (egg, starter, anything given unless it's one of the banned types) Grey: Any Pokemon that is grey as listed on the bulbapedia color category (unless once again it falls under a banned type) Being an honorable house, the Starks detest the Lannisters, so any Pokemon that falls under their chosen element or sigil cannot be on your team. Grass Pokemon are banned, they represent summer too much, and Winter is coming.

    House Baratheon
    Location: The Capital
    Sigil: A Stag
    Motto: Ours is Fury

House Baratheon won rulership over the country when they destroyed all the Targarons. The Baratheon Men were the strongest of the strong so all fighting types will be allowed to you. Your sigil is a stag, so your team must be represented by wild game (Taraus, Stantler, Deerling), that Pokemon shall always be #1 in your party, and if they die you must shut off your game and continue from where you last saved. Other Pokemon Allowed: Since the Baratheon's have a problem with their money you are allowed to use any Pokemon that are available as prizes at the Game Corner (unless it's a banned type), Baratheon colors are black and gold, any Pokemon that falls under this color in the Bulbapedia color guide is allowed (unless it's a banned type). The Baratheon's of course are disgusted by the Targaron's so your team may not have any dragon or fire types.

    House Lannister
    Location: The West
    Sigil: A Lion
Motto: A Lannister Always Pays His Debts

Lannisters are the the richest and most powerful family in the country. Many people dislike the Lannisters considering the members nothing more than tricksters and con artists up to no good, for this all dark and psychic types will be available to you for use. The sigil of Lannister is a golden lion, so your team must be represented by a feline Pokemon, and they must always occupy the #1 spot of your party, if your sigil faints you must shut your game off and continue from where you last saved. Other Pokemon allowed on your team: Knights with a Blade: Pokemon that have sharp blade like claws (Scyther, Kabuto). All Pokemon that are yellow or orange according to the bulbapedia color chart (unless it's a banned type). The Lannisters don't fair well in the North so your team may not have any ice or rock types.

    House Targaryen
    Location: Exiled
    Sigil: A Three Headed Dragon
    Motto: Fire and Blood

The Targaryen's went from being the most powerful reign to rule over the countries for centuries using the fire of dragons, to being almost extinct. Fire Types are always welcome to be on your team, for you have the best control over it. Your sigil is the dragon, once a dragon Pokemon is obtained it must be #1 in your party always, if your dragon dies, so do you, shut the game of and continue from where you last saved. Other Pokemon allowed on Your Team: All Desert Dwelling Pokemon (For gen 3 and 5, unless the type is banned), If playing Gens that don't have a desert area you may use rock types unless they share a typing with something that is banned. All Red Pokemon (according to bulbapedia color chart) are also welcome to your team unless their type is banned. The Targaryen's were overthrown by the Baratheon's so any Pokemon that is a fighting type or represented by the stag sigil is banned from this team, as well as water types.

Hey, great challenge! I just have a couple questions.

Say I wanted to do a Lannister run. Would Espeon be considered feline enough to use as my sigil? Also, there isn't an orange colour classification in the colour chart, is that up to our own judgement?

Now, say I were doing a Stark run. The pokemon available to use as a sigil seem very limited unless I'm misunderstanding the rules. The Growlithe line would be banned, because they would be Lannister orange, and the Poochyena line would be banned, because they're dark type, another Lannister claim. Same thing with Ninetales (yellow) and Houndoom (dark). Would some of the Eeveelutions qualify?

    Thanks!

  • Well, I started my game on Sacred Gold. I'm doing House Targaryen.

    Update #1 on Sacred Gold.

    Name: Dany (female character ofc)
    Rival: Joffrey
    Starter: Cyndaquil (Ser Jorah)

    • After the beginning stuff, I caught Larvitar (Rhaegal) in Dark Cave.
    • Ser Jorah evolved into Quilava in the Sprout Tower.
    • Beat Falkner easily, mostly with Rhaegal's Rock Slide.
    • Caught my sigil pokemon, Gible (Drogon), in Union Cave.
    • Did Slowpoke Well, then defeated Bugsy mostly with Ser Jorah's Flame Wheel.
    • Went through Ilex Forest to Goldenrod, and Drogon evolved into Gabite!
    • Went north and caught Scyther (Rakharo) in the National Park.
    • Beat Whitney, mostly with Rakharo's Rock Smash.
    • Bought Porygon (Jhogo) at the Game Corner, then headed to Ecruteak City.
    • Did the Burned Tower and released the legendary beasts, then took on the gym.
    • Morty was defeated by a full team effort and a bunch of items; Drogon did the most damage with his Dragon Rage.

  • Hey guys! It's been ages since I last did a challenge (uni now requires some actual work haha), and since I recently finished season 2 this sounds like a great one to do.

@jdthebud: I have decided to mark you as my sworn enemy. Nothing personal, but a Baratheon hates a Targaryen (Please Note: Joffrey is not a Baratheon). Hence I will also use Sacred Gold - are you using the Classic, or the totally edited (ie movesets and all) version? I'd prefer the latter.

    Here's the signup:

    Username: mamoswineftw
    House: Baratheon
    Game: Sacred Gold
    Ultimate: No

Probably can't have a race, but oh well. Perhaps a simulated battlo on PO using our teams at the end? For lols?

Will acquire Sacred Gold and make a start ASAP.

@Laure: I assume I can use yellow-classified pokemon since there is no official gold colouring, right? And can I use traded pokemon, if it's from an ingame trade? And I can only obtain my sigil pokemon before Olivine City (ie after 3 badges) - is that okay? Thanks

Not sure what this stuff is based off, but I could give it a go.
    Username: TheFifthAlice
    House: Lannister
    Game: Touhoumon Another World
    Ultimate: No

I was also thinking of doing Stark, but I like a lot of Psychic and Dark types, even if I can't use Cirno(Ice), and whichever I choose I can't use Alice(Psychic/Ice). So yeah. Might as well use Chen as my mascot. She's a ground type, would that work...?
And you say I have to always keep the mascot in the first party slot. Does that apply even when grinding?

  • Unfortunately, it seems that my save file got corrupted somehow, so I will have to drop this challenge.

I made it as far as Blaine's gym and was just about to fight him for my seventh Kanto badge :(.

Here are my screens I took, not that they're useful anymore...

I love this idea so much, but I feel we should add a few more houses:

    House Tully
    location: the riverlands
    sigil: the trout
    motto: family, duty, honor

Though house Tully isn't particularly strong, they have prospered thanks to the many rivers fertalizing their land, as such, water types are all permitted. The tullys seek to make alliances with other houses and therefore may have at least one of every pokemon color type save those associated with their enemies in house lannister. Due to their loyalty to the king in the north and house stark, the Tullys are allowed to use any ice types or canine pokemon in addition to their own. They must always have a fish and something to represent the colors red and blue without associating themselves with the lannisters.

    House Tyrell
    location: the abundant south
    sigil: the rose
    motto: growing strong

The tyrells call the beautiful highgarden home and have been on good terms with the kings of the realms for many years. As flowers dominate the tyrell lands, they use grass-type pokemon and any others green and gold (if not a banned type). Due to their ties to Baratheon and Lannister, they are allowed to use most of their pokemon as well. In spite of themselves, the Tyrells despise the Martells and wouldn't so much as think to use a ground or rock type pokemon.

    House Martell
    Location: The desert
    sigil: the sun and spear
    motto: unbowed, unbent, unbroken

The martells of dorne have lived long is the expansive desert of the far south regions of Westeros. They are powerful and terrifying warriors being made akin to snakes, therefore, they must carry a snake with them at all times. They also are allowed to use any rock, ground, or steel types (that aren't banned). Their colors are red and orange (you know what that means). Naturally, they loath the tyrells and wouldn't even think to use grass types or anything with flowers.

    One More

    House Arryn
location: the mountains of the vale
    sigil: the moon and falcon
    motto: as high as honor

The arryns remain aloof in the realm, yet they hold a very certain kind of power. Their sigil means that their party must consist of a bird of sorts and any pokemon that can be found at night (unless in a game that does not consist of a night mechanic). Their colors are white and blue and may use any of the pokemon associated with those colors (unless banned). Being allys of Baratheon, Stark, and Tully, they can use most of their respective pokemon, however, they may not use any pokemon associated with lannisters. If they are defeated by a pokemon as such, they must shut off their game and restart from their last save point.

    That's all.

Though I'd love to do a challenge with one of these new houses I've decided instead to work with house Baratheon. I'll do this in volt white 2 where Samurott is a fighting type.

Screw that, doing the starks, but still starting with Oshawott.
