    Thread Moderation

All threads are on moderation. This means that after you post a thread, you and other members will be unable to see it until a moderator checks it and decides whether or not your plot is subpar. Please check the status of your roleplay in this thread before PM'ing a mod asking whether your thread has been accepted or not: Please read the first post before skipping to the most recent update.

    What is an RP?

The easiest way to describe an RP is a sort of story/ Fan fiction which is made by multiple members. You take the role of your own character and create a sort of story following a plot given to you by the the starter of the RP. Your characters will develop through the writing and interact with other characters to make one big Fan fiction. This is the best way to describe an RP. Things that a Roleplay needs in order to be accepted, and survive are listed after the Rules.

    RP sections:

    Pokemon RP
The above is for Pokemon RP's only; no other kind of RP's can be placed there.

    Other RP
The above is for any non Pokemon related RP's…so anything else apart from Pokemon RP's can be placed there.

    Other Roleplay Lounge
The above is where discussion for Other Roleplay goes. Here you can make threads that discuss a certain RP (OOC Thread), ask for help, or post ideas in the 'Discussion thread'. You can also create your sign-up thread here as a joint with an OOC Thread, as long as the main roleplay has been accepted by a moderator.

    Rules

NO1: No plot, no RP. Keep reading for tips on how to create a plot that is sufficient. If your plot fails to reach a basic minimum, it will not be accepted. NOTE: One sentence is not

NO2: You should know by now that a members post is similar to a Fan fiction post, therefore it has to include good description of what your character is doing and such, one thing that is not allowed is script posting, in which an example can be seen below:

    Character 1: Dialogue
    Character 2: Dialogue
    Character 1: *Action* Dialogue

In other words, we are not roleplaying as if in a play or drama, we are roleplaying as if writing a novel, or short story. There will be no asterisks or brackets to symbolize action.

Also, there will be no: 'U' and '2' to substitute proper words. You will use proper language whilst RPing, not substituting it to make it easier for yourself. Excuses like: 'I type fast' or the such are not plausible. It's easy to slow down and type properly.

NO3: SPAM, like the rest of the forums, SPAM is not allowed, this also includes too many OOC (Out of character) posts, it's considered SPAM if used to many times. Please create an OOC thread if you feel that you will need to post OOC multiple times. Discussing matters not directly related to the RP is also treated as spam, so please keep your discussion relevant. PMs and visitor messages can both be used to discuss more general topics.

NO4: Character control: Character control is…well it's not completely barred, but you cannot take complete control of another person's character without permission. Different RP Master's have different outlooks and opinions on Character control, which is also known as "Powerplaying", "Godmodding", or "Bunnying" and it varies from person to person. One person may allow minor powerplaying, another might ban it completely. Taking control of another members character just a little is acceptable as long as the character's creator has no objections, but taking complete control of another member's character without permission is not. Please pay attention to what you do with other member's characters.

NO5: 1 paragraph per post: We are looking for about three to four lines of text on a fluid width skin. (For example, Pokecommunity Pro or Lets Get This Party Startered.)

    Half paragraphs like
    this, unfortunately,
do not count as a paragraph
    so don't do it!

Here is an example of the length we we are looking for:

Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text

    Cross-compared between a 1074 x 768, 1440 x 900, and 1920 x 1200 monitor size for fairness.

Breaking this rule merits a 2 point infraction that expires in 4 months.
    - If you receive two of the above infractions, whether they are expired or not, your third infraction will automatically be bumped up to three points.
One-liners merit a 3 point infraction that expires in 4 months.

NO6: Waiting for an RP to start: Please do not nag the RP creator on when the RP will start, be patient as the RP creator may not be online or may not want to come online at any particular moment. The RP will start when it starts so please, do not nag with posts such as:

"Can we start now?!" or "When will this RP start?!"

Because it's rude and doesn't speed things up at all.

NO7: All RP's must have a rating. You can find the ratings and descriptions of their meanings at this thread: Ratings Thread

NO8: Advertising: As the rest of the board, advertising forums is not allowed. So if you have an off forum RP, please do not post it here as it will be deleted, and you will receive the standard infraction for advertising. Linking to any other forum, advertising or not, will result in a red infraction.

NO9: Stealing is absolutely not tolerated at PC. If you steal someone else's plot, you will receive a permanent red infraction worth 4 points. Note; When reporting stolen plots, please include a print screen of the original roleplay, and please make sure that the thief isn't the same person as the creator. Also, if you are a member of a roleplay that is accused of being plagiarized, your opinion on the matter is respected, but it would be prudent if you didn't PM the mods with your two cents. The right of opposition against being accused of a stolen RP belongs to the RP master, and the RP master only. Should they have anything to say, then there is no need for you to help them say it.

Threads accused of being stolen will immediately be closed, and the stolen content removed at once. They will only be reopened if proof that the roleplay is not stolen is presented.

NO10: Please, no "Groups", "Clubs", or anything similar. They will be closed on sight.

NO11: If a thread demonstrates repeated offenses against the rules, they will receive a 'thread warning'. If a thread you're participating in receives a warning, please do your best to fix the problem pointed out by the mod. At three thread warnings, the thread will be closed.

If the offense are reported or the RP master picks up on them, they will not count towards thread warnings.

NO12: RP takeovers. If your RP master vanishes without a trace and without assigning control of the RP to someone else, the remaining RPers may select a new RP master and continue with the RP. In this case, PM your section mod to inform them about the change. If no such PM is sent or if section rules are not followed after the change, the thread can be locked at the staff's discretion.

NO13: Have fun! There really aren't that many rules, eve though they're really long. It's just mostly common sense and following the Forum-wide rules. Everything that applies to Pokecommunity applies here so keep that in mind and just have fun!

    Roleplay Plot

Like any fan fiction, you have to have an idea before you can make the story, and this is exactly what a plot is. A plot is a sort of idea given to the members so as they can build on it. Without a plot you cannot produce an RP. For example, at the start of a game or some stories, you normally have a Prologue or summary of what the game or book is about, this is a plot.

Three main things are needed in a plot:

Originality: Which will draw members to the RP, the last thing you want to do is a have a plot about a bunch of trainers going on a journey as you would see in the Pokemon Anime, no, you want a good story with a few plot twists. We are not stopping you from starting a Trainer RP, but it would be an idea to add a few plot twists and some adventure, this is what draws members to your RP.

Detail: Description, History and emotions all come into the detail of a Plot; with out detail the plot will have no feel and therefore not attract members. Were not saying it has to be a 14 page essay, but make it more than 4 lines and add some description into it to allow members to have the idea of what the plot is about.

Interest: Originality and Detail all come into the interest of the plot. You want to draw members to the RP so make it interesting by adding a few plot twists and furthermore, just making up your own story.

Depth: Unfortunately, we are not accepting Plots that are less then 5 or 6 lines, and that is absolute bare minimum, and only if you managed to fit every little detail into those 5-6 lines. You should have enough so that the roleplayers in your RP are not wandering around trying to find something to do. Some RPer's like long novel-like plots that describe a story that took place before the actual roleplay- That counts as a plot. But other RPer's like plots that are straight to the point, and simply describe what will happen in the plot.

So that's pretty much what a plot needs, but this is only the beginning.

    Sign-up Sheets

Sign up sheets are just as important as RP posts and plots, without a good sign up sheet other members do not have a clear image of how your character acts, looks and feels. In order to know this, your sign up must meet good standards, this means plenty of description so that members know how to act around your character.

We don't ask much, just around four or five lines with proper grammar and good description. Now don't get me wrong, I am not putting the entire blame on the members who sign up, some of the blame also goes to the RP creator who accepts such sign ups, so it works both ways really.

We ask that the member who signs up give a proper sign up, not four words long for each section.

For more on this, please read Alter Ego's Guide to Sign-Up Writing

Now, as for the RP creators, the mods cannot stop you from accepting these sign ups, but it would much benefit your RP if you ask them to add more and even complete a RP sample. RP samples are quick and easy, and they also show the members capability in RP's. If they do not meet standards in the sample, then it is more than likely that they will not meet standards in the actual RP either.

But of course, whether you accept a member is up to you. However, it would make the RP forums a tidier place if you kept to the four line rule, even in sign ups.

REPORTING POSTS: If you encounter a Post which contains SPAM or a member that has been abusing the thread, then please use the Report Icon that can be found in the users Profile box to the left of the post, it can be found at the lower left corner. It really helps out when we don't catch something that's out of line.

Please, no matter what happens, do not mini-mod, as it will be considered SPAM, and you risk an infraction if you do so. Reporting posts is risk free, and is much easier for you.
