EVI EMERGENCY ALERT P L O T

This is a nationwide emergency alert. As the virus continues to spread, infecting the continental United States, FEMA and the United States National Guard are on high alert as cities fall to the effects of the virus. The National Guard continues efforts to protect the remaining infection-free states of North Carolina and Georgia, FEMA is urging all capable of evacuating to head to Port Royal, South Carolina, where evacuation efforts are being handled in Fort Frederick.

If you have become exposed to the virus in any fashion, please remain where you are and avoid contact with anyone who has not been exposed. Common symptoms of infection are bloodshot eyes, loss of hair, skin rashes, easily angered, restlessness, or dehydration. If your area has been exposed to the virus, barricade yourself in a safe location with provisions and wait further instruction from the Emergency Alert System by tuning in to 76.5 AM for radio broadcasts or by television on any station.

The year is 2011. It's April, on a sunny Tuesday morning. You're in a metropolis going about your usual business. The streets are busy, packed with traffic, and so are the sidewalks. People living as normally as possible. The news reports earlier told of a new viral infection that had come from Mexico and down from Canada early in the day. People all over were getting sick, but news from the west coast cut off before you left your apartment that morning. Then as you traveled the streets, you heard reports that the infection had spread all the way to the mid-west and nearly to the east coast.

People around you continued their business, finishing what they needed to, even as news from the mid-west cut off as abruptly as news from the west coast. Police cars and fire trucks attempted to get through traffic, sirens blaring, but traffic was at a halt. A typical day. It was the usual hustle and bustle of the city. It was the usual unpreparedness.

You got home that afternoon, ready for bed, but flipped on the news to check up on the virus situation. Nothing. You brushed your teeth and laid your head on your pillow.

Your life was normal yesterday. You woke up, went to work, watched television, ate. Mere hours after your simple, average life continued on its simple, average way, the entire United States was engulfed in an outbreak of an unknown virus. The virus made people crazy. Deemed the "zombie" virus for its similarity to the fictitious walking dead of movies, people were attacking other people. Biting them, killing them, it didn't matter. The infected had no moral compass to follow. Their only goal was to quell the never-ending hunger they now had for human flesh.

Your only goal now is to escape alive. Three states remain uninfected as the entirety of the United Stated Armed Forces battles against an army of the undead. You may run into fellow survivors and join their group or continue on alone in the hopes of securing any food and water for yourself and yourself alone. Live together, or die alone.

You have one last hope in this world: Port Royal.

SURVIVAL SAFETY TIPS R U L E S

Stay alert!
If you sign up for this roleplay, please remain active! I don't expect a thousand posts a week, but I would like for each roleplayer to post at least one time for every post I make as the Hank/Chuck. If you miss two weeks of posting, I may choose to kill you off, unless you specify that you'll be gone in the OCC thread. Thanks.

Keep the children safe!

Remember that this roleplay is PG-16! It will contain blood, violence and death, so there's a second warning if the title wasn't hint enough.

There is safety in numbers!
No god-mode! Despite the fact that we all wish we were capable of surviving alone in a scenario like this, nobody can survive alone for long against a horde of the undead. If you choose to be a loner in the roleplay for a time being, you may not miraculously escape every situation! You'll need to band up with one of the two storyline groups eventually, despite starting alone. Along with that, a reminder that guns do not have unlimited ammunition and that your character should be an average person! No crazy martial arts skills or unbeatable powers, please. This should be as realistic as possible (lol zombies).

RECENT OUTBREAKS O T H E R

These are the two starting locations you can use. Each city has a storyline, so use this for your sign-up to pick your location/faction.

Charlotte, North Carolina
Starting in Charlotte will present you with the "good" faction. You will join a group of non-infected as they travel to Port Royal, becoming a large traveling mob. Along the way, you will be presented with several infected attacks, members of the group becoming infected, meeting psychopaths (non-infected people that lose their minds due to the outbreak), and other challenges. This group will cross paths with the "bad" faction, presenting you with the opportunity to leave and cause some trouble.

This group is led by Hank. Hank is an older man of about 56, who took command of a small group of humans he found while escaping from Cleavland, Ohio. The group began to grow to a small army of around 30 as they traveled through to Charlotte. The group consists of 12 men, 11 women and 6 children.

Atlanta, Georgia
Starting in Atlanta will present you with the "bad" faction. You will join a group of raiders, bent on exploiting the panic by pillaging, killing non-infected, playing sick games with the infected, and generally being some bad people. This group will not attempt to go to Port Royal, but will cross paths with the "good" faction, presenting you with the opportunity to leave and head for safety. You will also encounter psychopaths, infected attacks, and other challenges.

This group is led by a man called Chuck. Chuck is a middle-aged man of about 44. Chuck lived in Jacksonville, Florida as part of a bike gang when it spread to his city. Escaping on his motorcycle, he slowly collected followers who found him to be a suitable leader, despite his cruelty and twisted behavior. When his group reached small towns outside of Atlanta, they continued to rob houses, empty or barricaded with survivors, just to find food, water, or money. The group consists of 14 men and 3 women.
