    Have fun!

    I vote for -ty-.

The nose bothers me though. Whenever I look at it, I see a smiley face. Is that even intentional? Anyway, it is sprited very well, and I like how you did the afro/mane. Sorry altaria, but the concept is a bit too basic. Nevertheless, a good effort from both of you. ^^

I felt that -Ty-'s sprite showed a better understanding of how to scratch, but it still had many flaws in it. for one, it was facing directly towards the veiwer, whereas regular pokemon sprites look to the center-left of the screen. The shading on the hair was well done, and the shading elsewhere seemed to be of the same style, so thats kudos to you. In the face and legs there seemed to be alot of straight lines, which is not good in spriting, and especially in the "cute" style of art. There needs to be more curve in the lines.

For altariaking, you used more curve in your lines, but it still feels stiff and 2d, mainly because of the way you did the shading, and more importantly, the transition from the dark green to the light green was very choppy and patternlike. You want to make it much more depth by doing a different kind of repitition. Instead of just the same thing each time, make the first two one pixel higher than the rest, and then the last three fall a pixel each, the body itself isnt good beause it isnt round. It has what looks like a small indent in it's back.

I voted for -Ty-'s sprite because it showed a better understanding of the style of scratch spriting, but I still feel that both contestants have a great deal to learn about scratch spriting. Good luck to both of you.

Look at the eyes. Tall, and not directly aimed to the bottom corner.

It is much more straight-out than mine, however it looks good, right?

I agree with the straight-lined legs, but not the face (assuming you're are talking about the eyes.) The tall eyes show more surprise and innocence.

I think to say that someone needs improvement is fine as long as the arguments are valid, and if the source is credible. With that being said, I would have to call credibility into question after looking at the sprites on your thread.

... I would also like to thank everyone else for the great critiques, and I would also like to thank Altaria for being such a good competitor.

Very good counter sir. I have to say, i was not talking about the eyes, but you did end up disproving what I said with the dust bunny guy. and I can see what your saying about my sprites as well. but as you can see, all three fakemon face to the center-left, which was what I meant by "looking". That was a bad choice of words on my part.

I can see many flaws in my older works as well. Fawnliage looks too bovine-ish, when I was trying to make it look like a fawn, The outline shading on the water bug is too light, and there are many shading flaws in the trashmonster as well. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I feel that I have grown better since those sprites because of noticing the obvious flaws. :)

    I voted for Altaria because:
In ty's sprite, the eyes are facing forward, nopt to the bottom left like it should. Also, it looks like a sheep. Sheep-->bull doesn't seem right to me.

However, the eyes look wrong. Also, I agree with what Doran said.
"the transition from the dark green to the light green was very choppy and patternlike."
Especially on the head, since it doesn't look natural.

I'm going to have to go with ty's. The linework is cleaner, with better shading and fine detail. The face could be better (the snout area looks detached from the rest, and actually resembles a miniature face of its own), but everything else makes it an unmistakable and hilarious baby form of Buffalon. I'm not very familiar with the newest Pokemon, but HAVE seen Buffalon, so if I was shown your sprite with no context, I probably would have thought it was actually from B/W.

-ty-'s Looks like a sheep, even though the sprite is better. The design is not. So I voted for AK

I really don't see why that should matter... Ampharos evolves from a sheep, Remoraid evolves into an octopus... You can dislike the design all you want, but it not looking like a baby buffalo shouldn't factor into that.

Voting for ty's Buffalon pre-evolution. Like Chesu said, the linework is clean and the sprite has good shading. About the nose, I think you could've made it a bit smaller and use a more of a saturated pink. I think it could look better if you removed (i'm assuming) the mouth(black pixels underneath the nostrils). It's right front leg could be moved a few pixels to the left, the angle bothers me a bit. Also the horns looks flat and it doesn't look like it's coming out of the hair.

altariaking's Marakacchi pre-evolution is alright but the shading is completely off and the design could use a bit of fixing up.

    i voted for -ty-

it's completely adorable and was shaded better than AK's.

AK, yours is also awesome, certainly better than scratches i've made >.> I think you'd be better scratching sprites with a simpler anatomy & color, say Erufuun? Just sayin' ;)

    The winner is...

    -ty-!
With an amazing 12 point lead and his pre-evolution of Buffalon, -ty- is the winner!
