Story of the Hack
I'm sure you already heard of this RomHack when it first came out in reddit. It is an Original Fire Red game with a little twist here and there. So because I am making the sequel game for this RomHack, i'm finding ways to make this one more updated so that people know what to expect for the sequel.
Back then people say that the level curve is too much, so i fixed that in the remake. Can you beat the game easily though? I still doubt it!
This hack was made when when i was a kid, few years ago, so pardon the bad grammar. You don't have to read it though, cause the story will be the same.

Goal of this Hack
So this is the main points that I need everyone to understand about this RomHack. This is My take on the Pokemon Game. The concept, the typing changes, the niche, it is all new to the game and it is for everyone to explore. I feel a lot of hacks is just the same with different stories or more updated features or different map palette. I want to give my romhack idea to go to another direction. So this is why I am making it in a firered Base story.
What you should expect in this Romhack are:
Spoiler:
  • Different starters than normal, with a very strong BST change for each. (because it is not the original FireRed, do not underestimate any of the starters.)
  • Every Pokemon in the game will have their BST change
  • Niches for each types will be implemented (if you download the file you will know what are the changes)
  • Harder major battles
  • Because of the Niche, the Weakness/Resist will also change.
  • Weakness/Resist are not meant to be make sense. It is meant to balance the game so all Pokemon are viable.
  • Some credited battles in the Altering Cave Post-game after defeating the Elite 4 the second time.
  • Post-game (after fulfilling 60 pokedex) is when battles starts to get hard.
  • In case you forget it already, again, This is my take on the Pokemon Game
  • This is a big deal for me and that is actually having 100EV for 5 stats instead of dumping all 252 in 1.

Features:
Spoiler:
  • New Starters : Ekans, Machop and Abra
  • Starters have stronger total BST than other Pokemon
  • Total BST changes for all Pokemon in-game
  • Some ability change
  • Pokemon typing change
  • Harder Major Battles
  • Much Harder Post-Game (after 60 dex entries) Battles
  • Critical Hit Update
  • Infinite TM
  • Delete-able HM
  • Rough-skin Update
  • Running Shoes Indoor
  • Physical/Special Split
  • Catch Pokemon Exp Gain
  • nature colour stat
  • IV display
  • Poison Survival
  • BW repel System
  • [email protected] music inserted
  • Safari Pokemon Won't Run Away
  • Infinite Safari time
  • Burn Damage Update
  • parylisis update
  • TM/HM animation skip
  • Force SET battle
  • Force FAST textspeed
  • Mew Y and Deocys will obey
  • No more healing items during battle
  • Pokemon will disobey at this level :- 30 (no badge), 50 (2 badges), 75 (4 badges), 90(6 badges)
  • Level Revised
  • Updated Cries
  • Move Relearner will be in Cerulian City
  • Improved Major Battles AI
  • EXP All - EXP SHARE WILL GIVE 100% MORE EXP TO HOLDER, LUCKY EGG WILL GIVE 75% MORE EXP TO HOLDER
  • Not much need for HM but some places only. REMEMBER HMs ARE DELETABLE NOW!
  • Can't EV train but will be able to use Vitamins which will be cheap.

Flow of the game:
Spoiler:
  • play the game as normal with added new trainers.
  • after 4th gym get your siplh scope from giovanni before going inside pokemon tower
  • after the fourth gym the game will also be a little bit harder. So use your money for the vitamins, which are cheaper.
  • the first elite 4 are meant to be easy (still a challenge if you are nuzlocking).
  • get 60 kanto pokedex filled (check ingame cause i changed it) and talk to professor oak
  • post game elite 4 is what you should be proud of when you beat the game.
  • rebattle the gym leaders in vermillion city house, you can do this first before the post game elite 4
  • altering caves is your final battle!

Bugs:
Spoiler:
  • EGG will get EXP as well when it is in the party
  • If you do still bring your egg in the party, once it wants to forget a move, the screen will go wonky. It won't stop the game, but something you should know, just refuse when it want to forget a move because it won't do anything anyways.
  • Received Pokemon can't have their name change immediately. You need to go the Name Rater instead
  • Market will have the ?????? item for no reason. Don't buy it because it does comepletely nothing
  • Weird text will come out once in a while. Just keep pressing the A buttong because it won't break the game.

Credits:
Spoiler:
  • Blue - Back then when I was a kid, I needed a rombase (I don't even know that was a word before) that has all the Legendaries catchable, and his Pokemon RomHack, Pokemon FireRed: Generations, has it.
  • LykO - For making the ModExe tool, sleep update,
  • JPAN - Deleteable HM
  • Froosty - EXP ALL
  • HackMew - Running Indoors
  • Chacha Dinosaur - Critical hit Update
  • Delta231 - Burn, and paralysis update
  • Hex Helper - Text Speed fast
  • Sierra - Remove Flashback

Some Flaw and Imbalance in this Concept - No Longer Important
Spoiler:
So, because this Romhack was made when I was young, I did not have too much of a thought on the balance side of things. Unlike the sequel that is progressing right now, I admit that there is some flaws and imbalance in this original RomHack of mine, and I will tell all (I hope) of it here. In red, is what will be change in the sequel.
Spoiler:
  • Psychic-niche is a little bit too strong, especially when coupled with Dark type. (For the sequel, Psychic move will no longer bypass Protect move and they will have lower Defense)
  • Some Pokemon with Huge Power/Pure Power is a wee-bit too much. In the Sequel, All Pokemon BST will be change, that will make Huge Power and Pure Power not as strong as in here
  • A lot of Pokemon have 2 stage boost move. Even though I regret this decision I have made back then, I still think it's funny how broken and fun this is. Only the Pokemon that do not have the Brute advantage will have the access for 2 stage boost status move.
  • 3 Brothers in Altering cave. Obviously.
  • Flying type Pokemon - This Pokemon will not be as strong as other type Pokemon. Even though it don't make sense. This is the reason I got to get rid of their rock weakness. Or they will become so useless you don't want to use them at all. Putting back the flying type advantage over bug Pokemon in the sequel.
Because this was my first RomHack. I will not change this imbalance on the game, just because I want it to remind myself where I started.

Spoiler:

Reason for Weakness/Resist Changes: - No Longer Important
Spoiler:
I will start from the first type change I did until the end. Remember the changes were made by my weird imagination and it is made AFTER I have finished thinking about their Niche.
Psychic
Spoiler:
Resisting Normal, Fight, Ground, Rock and Bug. Because I don't see it as in Anime Logic or whatever. I see it as If someone has full control of their Psychic power. Meaning Barriers just like Mew vs Mewtwo will always be there when they need it. If the barrier is always active, Normal type, Fight, Rock will not be an issue. Should be flying type as well but because Flying type is already a very bad type here i choose not to. As for Ground, Psychics can levitate. But instead of making them more broken i just leave it as Resisted only.

Dragon
Spoiler:
When I was young, I like beating dragon type Pokemon. I feel making it only weakness is its own type, made them a force to be reckon with. Which made it more of a big deal to beat them. So this change is just for me to be able to beat dragon type Pokemon without using a move that can destroy them with 1 PP. I know players can get them too. Ah well the RomHack was not focused on making them balanced in the first place. Deal with it lol.

Dark
Spoiler:
So when I was into the game 8 years ago. I feel that the dragon type is too OP. Because I did not know how to add new moves and new types. I decided to make Dark type to be immune to dragon as well. Basically this type, Checks Psychic and Dragon.

Fire
Spoiler:
I did not change much for fire except for one thing. To counter Dark type moves. As I know how good dark type is. I have to have a type that can counter them. And why not fire? Fire produces light in the dark, and Dark just can't do anything to take over it.

Ice
Spoiler:
The only change I made with ice is that, it can take Fight type move without it being super effective. That is because to balance the fact that they can't do super effective damage against Flying type anymore.

Normal
Spoiler:
The reason ghost can hit Normal Type Pokemon is simple as people can be possesed by a ghost.

Ghost
Spoiler:
I actually want physical attacks to be immune by ghost type pokemon. At the same time. I don't know anything about hacking. lol. So the other thing i did was give them immune to ground and rock moves.

Bug
Spoiler:
By all the type change, this is by far the one that don't make sense at all. Oh well. It does not have too. I just want Bug Pokemon to be strong and reliable in this RomHack. So that's why I've change it as is.

Grass
Spoiler:
I hate the fact that grass type is not as fun as it should be. One of the only type Pokemon to have good draining move (at that time). But can't do much but to a certain type only. So just like bug this is completely change not because of real logic or imagination that i have but more on making them much stronger to anything it battles.

Rock
Spoiler:
I know, Root can grow through a stone. Now, that we pass that, see the table again and see the pattern. I don't like 4x damage to a pokemon. especially when a game is not meant to play competitively. So i took away grass advantage over Rock type. I already made a good buff on grass type. So why not. Now Pokemon type like golem is much much better.

Poison
Spoiler:
I like this type. I don't like that it is not as good in this Gen. So i took away ground type advantage over them. This change made Poison type equally strong as most of the other type. Also I am planning to have Poison type Pokemon to be The starter. And nothing better than having a strong Dark/Poison type Arbok to obliterate people with it's SwordDance - Toxic Tail set up.

Fight
Spoiler:
Because this is one of my starter Pokemon. I will tell you that changes for this type is not needed, to be honest. But Electric type Pokemon is on Par with dragon type move. It is too strong for my liking (because of their niche) so what i though of was I need to choose from the 3 starter type to actually counter Electric moves. and i chose fight type. I also choose fighting type to not be scared of flying type. This is because, Every special Attack can kill them 1 hit. I don't like winning like that.

Flying
Spoiler:
Because of the fighting type changes. I have to take Rock advantage over flying type to make it balance. Which I find out. It didn't. Flying type is still not as strong as i want.

Ground
Spoiler:
I did not do any other changes to ground type. Because all the changes of the other types

Water
Spoiler:
I did not change much

Electric
Spoiler:
I did not change much

Steel
Spoiler:
Gen 3 steel type is Already OP

same like fire red generations?
I deleted few of the event generation has. I use it as base just for the Legendary events. But pokedex and a lot of other things are changed

The big change is the different concept from original pokemon game. So not really story based but more on how the battle will feel different.

Edit: Just incase anyone wondering. The base (pokemon fire red generation) i used was from 7 years ago. Incase there is more updated one.

Which version of Fire Red should I use? The USA one isn't patching.
So i tried testing it again. and it work for me. Make sure you got the Version 1.0 one to patch it with the squirrel .ips file i provided. And then use NUPS to patch the .ups file to the same Rom.

I just got to Celadon, and the game feels quite harder. Leveling up is easy but you can't solve your problems by brute-forcing your way with an overleveled team, that's nice. It may be the different weaknesses I'm not used to, but some types feel noticeable stronger than others, both offensively and defensively. The generation challenge trainer battles are fun, but I couldn't fight the trainer near the gym in Pewter City, the screen went black and the battle never started.

Overall it's really fun so far.

Main post updated. Should be fixed, let me know
Yes! Thank you for the lightning fast fix!

I should mention, the patching was weird in that the squirrels patch in the new fix folder wasn't working properly and caused a white screen. Using the squirrels patch from the previous fix folder and then using the UPS patch from the new folder was able to work around it. Don't know if it's a problem on my end or if the IPS patch in the new folder is bugged. Either way the fix worked beautifully and I'm fighting the champion now, thanks again!

Alright nice! Hope you enjoy it!

This is odd. It is okay on my end. Not sure what happened there.

Okay I finished the game so I wanna give my thoughts since you asked.

I really liked the game but I do have my issues. It was difficult, real difficult. A lot more difficult than I wanted from a Pokemon game to the point it sometimes wasn't even fun to be honest. My final team ended up being Alakazam, Mega Rayquaza, Mega Charizard, Mega Starmie, Mega Tyranitar and Shadow Mewtwo. Not a pushover team at all, but I still struggled a lot especially near the end. I won't lie, because of this I abused the hell out of save states on Visual Boy Advance. Not proud of it but a lot of battles past the 8th gym, Altered Cave in particular, were annoying lol. I wanna go over some personal pros and cons for me just to help get my thoughts out.

Pros:

Starters. Based on what I saw playing the game, I'd rank them as Alakazam > Arbok > Machamp, but the beauty of it is all of them are great. It's not like Charizard Blastoise and Venusaur where one is clearly better than the other 2, and 1 is just plain bad. The fact that all 3 have the ability to set up too is just amazing lol. Personally think Machamp should've had the elemental punches (I assumed he would but he did not) to give his moveset more options but maybe that's just me.

EVs. Much, much better. Lowered the cost of vitamins significantly and made them the only way to raise EVs made it so EVs were optional and not annoying to deal with at all. Plus the fact many Pokemon (like Alakazam and Tyranitar) have a stat that's clearly much worse than the other 5 makes it very easy to decide which stat is getting ignored.

Pokemon Changes. There's SOOOOOO many good Pokemon options you can use if you want to. I changed my team so many times just because I could. Also having the choice to get Shadow Mewtwo + Rayquaza after the Champion to ease up the difficulty a little was very much appreciated.

Moves Changes/HMs. Mostly making moves more viable, I didn't see a single change in a move I didn't like throughout the entire game. HMs being removable is a godsend, having the ability to use and remove any HM as needed is something I always wished mainline games did.

Documents. Not really an in-game pro but something I loved nonetheless. Adding the txt documents with the game was really really nice, I looked through them CONSTANTLY while I was playing and I can't even exaggerate how big of a help they were.

Niches. They're cool but require getting used to especially when you know a lot of gen 3 by heart. It would really catch me off guard to not be able to hit Dark types with Dragon type moves for example lol. Same with a lot of typings.

------------------

Cons:

Disobeying Pokemon. I don't like or understand this at all. I like being able to grind until I'm satisfied with where I'm at. To me it's half the fun, I would want to train up because I was having a hard time and wanted to get ahead but then I'd remember if I trained too much I would be penalized. Because of this I avoided fighting the generation trainers placed in gym battle cities. Why punish people for having fun and grinding? Felt forced to stay under leveled until beating the 8th gym.

No Items During Battles. I also don't like or understand this at all either. The game's difficult enough with or without this, but at least give people the choice. Why force a handicap that's unnecessary for the sake of upgrading something from difficult to annoyingly difficult?

*Just to note, the questions asked were meant to be towards myself and rhetorical. I know you have your own reasons that you already mentioned for including the features you did in your game so please don't take it personally :)

Altered Cave. Not actually a con, just didn't know where else to put this in this post. I really wanted to be able to get the unique Pokemon they had there lol. Like either in the cave itself or as a reward for beating them would've been really cool. The Pokemon themselves being included was really cool.

--------------------

That was a lot more than I thought it'd be lol. So yeah, all in all I enjoyed the game a lot and I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel when it's complete, whenever that'll be. :D

Don't know if this is a common bug or just mine, but when the Jirachi egg hatches the game freezes. It's seems like it doesn't like Jirachi itself, I even tried to cheat it in on a different save just to see what would happen and the game froze again (just to be clear, the previous and next pokemon to Jirachi could be cheated in).

Hey thanks for the report again! Just found out that the Sprite got messed up, hence the freeze after it hatches. Should be fixed now.
