  • Touhoumon Another World: Revised / World Link: Revised

Hacks of Pokemon FireRed (U)(Squirrels) and Pokemon Emerald (U)(TrashMan) respectively.

    Current version: v1.6

    Overview
So, first things first, here's a brief introduction as to what the gist of Touhoumon is all about for those unfamiliar with it:
Touhoumon, also referred to as Touhou Puppet Play, is a fusion of the familiar Pokemon gameplay experience with elements from the Touhou Project games, a bullet hell series that features a mostly-female cast dueling each other via danmaku battles. It's often confused with Moemon, but Touhoumon actually goes beyond merely replacing sprites and rearranges nearly every major aspect of the game, from moves, type interactions, abilities, and so forth. The "Pokemon" here are replaced by puppets of the actual characters they represent. Various versions of such hacks have been released over the years by different people, each hack falling into one of 3 distinct "generations": 1.0, 1.5, or 1.8, the lattermost of which is the latest.

The original Touhoumon Another World and World Link hacks, made by Aichiya Sanae, fall into the 1.5 category and are notable for their ambitious plot expansions and various other features, and acquired a loyal following from the community. Unfortunately, as was the case with most 1.5 hacks, these hacks were infamous for having a number of flaws within them. Quirks such as absurd level spikes, overinflated base stats, questionable map designs, and 4 Full Restores on nearly every trainer are what made most people generally stray clear of them outside of masochistic challenge runs or the like. Oh, and the puppets in these hacks are known as "Boneka", the Indonesian word for "doll."

Well then, now on to the main aspect of this. As the name implies, Another World: Revised and World Link: Revised (henceforth referred to as AWR and WLR respectively) are the culmination of efforts over the past few years to not only patch up the plethora of issues the original hacks had, but to reinvent the gameplay experience with a slew of modern mechanics and various QoL features across the board, with the intent of creating 1.5 Touhoumon hacks that can actually be considered decent enough to stand out from the hot mess they usually end up being. What originally started as a few personal edits eventually built up to what the hacks are today.

I'm well aware that people are tired of Kanto and Hoenn by this point (myself included), but making any significant changes to the regions is beyond the scope of this project ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Update time! Here's a brief list of what's new in v1.5:

    • Frostbite fully implemented and replacing Freeze
    • New items: Power Herb, Wide Lens, and Link System (lattermost being a key item that allows relearning / deleting moves and nickname changing anytime)
    • A bunch of new / updated trainer sprites in AW
    • Summary screen UI color change in WL
    • Other general stability improvements have been made to enhance the user experience.™
(A more complete list can be found in the Changelog text file with the download.)

And yes, the download link remains the same as before.

  • Happy Holidays everyone! A new update's here, mostly for WLR, so here's a brief list of what's new in v1.6:

    • The sprites for the Substitute have been replaced with that of a doll
    • Beating Aichi's Insane battle the first time in WL now allows access to his house in addition to receiving the random X Boneka, meaning you no longer have to fight him twice to enter his house
    • Obtaining the Coin Case in WL no longer requires Harbor Mail whatsoever. As such, Slateport's mart now functions like most of the other marts that update their inventory as you obtain more badges
    • Route 115's Surf-only area in WL can now be accessed without the need to use Surf. The levels of the wild Boneka and trainer teams in that area have been adjusted to account for the change
    • Other general stability improvements have been made to enhance the user experience.™
(A more complete list can be found in the Changelog text file with the download.)

The download link remains the same as always.
