I can do it right now but I've never had to do this before do you know if I need to transfer it with the Pokémon in my box or can I just get it and trade it right back immediately

Select poke portal, press L button to connect online, select link trade, use code 0570 0570, connect with trainer name Lilith as that's me. Send me whatever pokemon and I'll send Hoopa. Then you send Hoopa back and I send back what you provided. That should get it to work.
