I don't think Sasuke ever really looked up to Orochimaru and just wanted to the power. I mean, he didn't even hesitate to kill the guy.

Yeah, that is pretty much how I looked at it.
He only went to him for power and nothing else.

I agree... he just wanted the power. It had nothing to do with personal feelings. He might also have just wanted to get revenge on Naruto for some reason...?

Nah, I think all his anger with Naruto died out in their fight before Shippuden. He knew Naruto survived the battle but didn't kill him when he was unconscious. If anything, I think Sasuke still cares a little about his old friend.

Kay, I have an issue that I think need's to be thought about. So, right now in the manga, Sasuke seems to have won against Itachi. Yet, a few chapters back, Orochimaru stated that even he and Sasuke combined wouldn't be able to match up to Itachi. Sasuke hasn't had any other training, so... how do we explain this?

Orochimaru obviously doesn't know the negative effects of the Sharingan and didn't expect the reason for Itachi's loss to be the very thing he wanted most (the sharingan).
