my friend has a brother who works for the pokemon company and he said theres a one-of-a-kind card called whompkin (i don't have a pic but is this true?)

As far as I'm aware, there is no such card. This friend is either pulling your leg, has seen a fake, or has mentioned a card that is only used in testing the game, which there isn't a need for since they already have the Japanese versions of the actual cards that they can translate into English to test out the game mechanics.
