As bizarre as it sounds, 10 years ago today, the Pocket Monsters anime debuted on TV Tokyo in April 1st, 1997. I'm not going to bore you with my memories -- yet. Instead, I want to focus on what I did with the Kids WB finale: memories of the past. In that of: what episodes got to you at a certain period of your life?

What episodes frustrated you to no end and made you give up the series? What episodes made you race to the TV? All have a why attached of course. And with D/P taking off, fans seems to be happy in the direction the series is taking. Are you one of them? If so and if not, then why?

I don't want to do pure favorites, I'll make that clear. I just want to focus on the memories behind the favorites in my time capsule way. I prefer no dub issues, but just straightforward series. However, if you want to talk dub, handle it with the rest of the criteria here.

A decade. Who would have believed this series has lasted so long? Not me. Heh.

Well i would of not believed that the series would not of lasted this long, i am guessing it might last another 5 to 10 years because the series is still ongoing as so the movies too...i don't see an end in sight of the series and the movies...if it ever went i bet every pokémon fan in the world would want it to continue and hold huge protests..

I think it will last as long as the simpsons has, if so i would be happy ^^

If it outlasts the Simpsons, then I'll be shocked. But it is hard to believe that it's been 10 years since the saga started over in the land of the rising sun. You gotta give the japanese credit, when they find a good thing they stick with it. Just wish that they'd bring back some the emotion from the Kanto series. That'd make things so much better.

Let see. I kinda forgot what my age was when I first saw pokemon but I do know which episode got me hooked. It was Ash's first battle against Blaine. I loved that how Blaine was able to use his fire pokemon so well and his riddles made me laugh. Then how the battle ended I just had to watch the next episode just to see what happens. I have to admitt it was because of that episode I fell in love with fire pokemon and ninetails!!!

Ten years. That is a long time. I have to say I miss a lot while I stop watching during the Johto times. I am still trying to catch up on those episodes. Still one of the best battles I can think of is when Ash defeat the Orange League Champion. That was a coolie battle. Then my fave has to be one of the most touching episodes next to Pikachu's Goodbye which happens to be my fave. Is That a Ralts I Here? I just love that episodes and I know it would be with me for at least ten more years. Kinda coolie that an episodes like Pikachu's Goodbye is one of the most remembered shows and it was shown ten years ago. It is nice to have some good episodes like that and then recently Sweet Baby James. I wonder what episode in the next three years will be the next touching episode.

God I feel old. I played Kanto pokemon when I was in high school and have just recently returned to find a 4th generation. How's that for an awakening?

I don't know, you can't predict which episodes will get the serious or emoting treatment. AG at the beginning, you would have somewhat because it was the first reboot of the series. Thus, you would expect changes in formula ("A Poached Ego"). Heh. Sighs.

But, with D/P working out so well, I'm sure a serious episode will be coming up soon, if not already.

10 years allready. It's fantastic that it was able to last that long, many series have come and gone before they even started. And to think that even at my place Pokemon is still going on, that's just great. [We don't get many anime xO, so it's kind of a miracle that Pokémon is still on the telly]

I remember when my best friend told me there was a new show and started to say Team Rockets poem.

Ah, well. I haven't seen many of the later Kanto episodes, I don't have a TV with connection, so no Pokemon for me at home. I do have a lot of DVD's/Videos at home. I asked my Grandfather to tape them all. My favourite series were the Johto ones. I have a special bond with that region. Don't know why, probably because Silver was my very first game (which I got 5 years ago).

Aw, I was really young when Pokemon began x3 To me, it didn't seem as though it would last, with Digimon, and others to compete with. At least it lasted <3 Aaand will still be here for many more years to come, at least, I hope so~
Johto was the specialist to me though :3 They should go back to Johto again, yaay, and then all the kawaii Pokemon can debut again =]

I find that amusing as Kids WB didn't get the rights until early 1999. That's some time warp, unless you lived in Japan when that aired. Hehe. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I started watching Pokemon when I was about 7 (more than half my life now) and I still love it. I'm just hooked on it because I have no idea, but in the johto series, it started getting boring but I never stop watching it at all. As soon as the 3rd generation started it was good again. I can't wait for the D/P series

The first time I heard of Pokemon was when I was about 9 or 10. At the time I was in Public School and then one day I start hearing about this show about pocket monsters and all and the kid who started it all: Ash Ketchum. And one Saturday morning on 1999 I wacthed my first Pokemon episode: "The Problem with Paris". I thought at first it was decent but it didn't interest me. Then sometime later I wacthed Ash battle with Lt. Surge and then spellbound in awe by Ash's determination and his VERY CLOSE friendship with Pikachu and vise versa, I was forever a fan since then. 10 years I'm now in college but reguardless I've been a faithful follower of Ash and his adventures for that long. Wow. 10 years. :surprised:

Word. I guess I kinda want the series to be a little more realistic, if not more mature.

Wow ten years! That is totally awesome! I was eighteen when it debuted on Kids' WB in 1999. Quite frankly at first I thought it would end like in 2003 or 2005. =x But then when the game continue the anime continued as well. I was happy when it continued. I am more into the anime than the games so...I am very glad I am watching a great anime. Even though the fad slowed down a little here, it is still continuing.

I hope to see more in the near future. Congrats Pokemon! ^^ *hopefully to see the anime get a little mature-have the characters grow up*

I hope I never become too old for pokemon. I was ten when it came out and became an uberfan. Since then, my interest in pokemon slowly waned until I never watched the anime and I forgot all about the games. However, with the release of DP, I am back to my uberfan status! Pokemans ftw!

Okay, I have watched Pokemon almost 8 years ago way back in June 1999. I was only 9 years old. It did changed my life forever. But I had no idea it aired in Japan 10 years ago and no idea it aired in America 9 years ago.
