[PokeCommunity.com] 11/16 - COTD - Salamence EX (EX: Dragon Frontiers)

    Rate & Review.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan.

Useless (because its attacks are too costly and damage isn't great) unless you want to hit the bench for 40... there aren't many 40HP basics in this season so there you are!

Being able to change its type can be handy but it still has a sh!tty weakness.

I think its a great card

about the comment above: all dragons are weak to normal type.. and the attacks arnt really that weak.. the other salamence ex listed at pokebeach is only stronger because it uses two different types in its cost..

about the type changing ability, its useful, but they could have made it a double type card and givin it a different power all together..

    pros
    like the art
    good hp
    useful attacks

    cons
    wierd (but still useful) power

I actually like this one. You'll do 80 damage to a Water- or Grass-type anyway with Dual Stream, and Special Conditions won't blight Type Shift.

Good, but would have been better off as a Holographic. Dual Stream is a nice effect and I can see this card being played competitively.

I disagree completely. Just because an attack has the option of doing 40 damage to a bench, doesn't mean that it has to be used to snipe weeny basics for a prize which pose no threat at all. If anything its going to be used to remove any potential threats (in around 2-3 hits) before they become active or abuse any Power they have or for cleaning up your opponents damaged bench. Look at Raichu and Exeggcutor d for example.

Great d type, pretty impressive HP. Unfortunately its an ex and healing this card is going to be quite tricky if it wants to stay active and hack away at your opponent.
Its power is ace. In Modified there are currently 2 other playable Sally cards, both of which are easily runable with this card due to similar attack costs (Boost/DRE). They can cover Fire, Water, Metal and Colourless attacks (also including the preevos) and any other line you might be playing will also help this.
2 Resistances = good, even at the cost of a [C] weakness. Because honestly, there are very few playable [C] types! Crystal Shard is potentially a threat, but since the popularity of [C] weak types is amazingly low (not enough people have them, since exs are hard to get..), that its not worth Shards in the deck. So the weakness is actually quite good right now (unlike Dark Dragonite days..) The retreat is quite good for a big stage 2 ex - but it could be better (which it won't though).

This card is also very good attack wise. Both attacks only require [W] types and Boost energies can be abused for some surprise KOing (similar to its non d ex version). 3 Energies for 60 is quite efficient but 4 for 80 is very good especially since there is no discard. What makes this all the better is the possibility to hit the bench for some disruption and prizes. Type Shift will increase the chance of getting a lot of KOs.

Meh, I like taking out benches first and then finish off the active in 1 hit (if i can), because sometimes that'll make my opponent lose by default.

Maybe it's just our different playing style after all...

Overaal a great card. It's poke-power can turn you in a advantage during your turn, and resistance against 2 types is also useful. 160 HP is also good, the only downside is it's energy. Duel Stream takes 4, but I can't call that much of a problem.
