Come tomorrow, we'll be at our 40th D/P episode in Japan, while we're only 16 episodes away in the US. Compare that to 4Kids' ratio of having the episode dubbed a year later (sometimes, six months, as per the first Snorlax episode). Besides realizing how lucky you are, as most TV dubs aren't nearly that rapid with the product, you're still out of luck with the hiatuses. Dogasu opined this back in June:

So Diamond & Pearl has officially started in the US this week, so I've added all the newest episode titles that have been revealed. I really wish CN wouldn't rush through the series especially now that they don't have any incentive to do so, but I will enjoy the downtime when CN runs out of episodes and is forced to go into endless rerun mode.

There's also a new Japanese title on that page. The month of June will only give us two new episodes in Japan because of baseball season, making CN's plowing through of the DP episodes even more nonsensical.

We've gone through this with Battle Frontier's final episodes. However, we, at the very least, had a backlog of episodes to count on. Now, we're this close, and "is it worth it?" I don't mind once or twice a week, but five times?

It beggars the question of their scripting at times (see Dogasu's episode comparisons). Too many, and you're bound to make mistakes. Of course, we had that in late Johto with the advent of 4Kids' Fox Box, so you can't win, either way. Heh.

Anyone else feel unease over this depleting of supply or, "new episodes! Who cares?"

Well apparently we have to wait til the fall right now for new episode of Diamodn and Pearl. I mean atleast with 4Kids, we'd jsut of kept going and there would have been no gaps. Perosnally, I would have prefer the two episodes back to back per week like in thebegining of abttle frontier. Only proablem is no one wants toget up early for Pokemon. So, I think if they put it around 11 it would have beenbetter.

Its easier for me if they're all out this quickly because I can watch more episodes before the user on YouTube gets their account deleted XD

Seriously though, I think I would prefer it 2 a week so that means there's something to look forward to the next week. And of course, the quicker we catch up, the longer the wait until the next part of the series. :(

Just wondering, but how often do new episodes come out in Japan? I've noticed that on Serebii the picture for the Japanese episodes don't change very often. Do they come out once a fortnight or something?

    once a week.

Pocket Monsters D&P: Airs Thursdays at 5-5:30AM EST (7-7:30PM GMT+9) on TV Tokyo (Ch 12).

It's mostly once a week, with the occasional hiatus (too many episodes) or the fallout from banned Japanese episodes. Hehe.

Which explains the pitiful low-budget animation. Yep.

Well In Canada, YTV had a Marathon in late April with Daimond And Pearl but that was it, right now the daily episodes just finished the Hoenn league and the weekly episodes are about half way through Battle Frontier.
I thought the CN aired new episodes on Wednsdays and Thursdays.

In the UK they're showing Advanced Battle for 3 hours every weekend so they've looped that around a few times. And they're showing 2 episodes of Battle Frontier everyday at 5pm. Which has looped around about 1000 time now.

Does anyone know why Toonami/Cartoon Network Too whatever never show Advanced or Advanced Challenge? They've shown ever other series but they always skip those 2. I know Sky shows them so do Sky own the rights to those 2 series?

Um, what's wrong with the animation?

Um, what's wrong with the animation?

Lack of animation fluidity (for example: note the eye blink activity vs. regular animation) or fluid bodily expressions. Or simply put, static characters who barely move their lips and limbs against moving backgrounds.

But what do you expect for a weekly series like this? As a counter, they can crank out more product vs. more detailed animation, which takes quite a lot of time to do.

I hope soon they put the new episodes of Pokemon on YTV because when you live in Canada like me, it's very frustrating to watch Ash in the middle of the Hoenn league every day...

I'm not very observant so I don't really notice XD Although I have noticed that background characters are just kind of there and do nothing.

I kinda don't like the idea of new episodes everyday. I was okies with it when it was the end of Battle Frontier but it kinda isn't needed now with Diamond and Pearl Also like it when I had to expect at the end of the week for the new Pokemon episode. Now it just really hard to keep up with my DVR to record them.

I kinda scared that they are showing new episodes everyday because then what if they don't do it and then there be a super long break. I really like it better that they show one episode a week. Even two is okies. You know to be kinda on track with the Japanese version.

Curiously, how long does it take to dub an episode? It seems like they were popping out like hot cakes so I guess it takes a week or so.

And I do think that all these episodes aren't necessarily bad, just different. With Kids WB and their schedule, 4Kids didn't have to dub so fast, so they had the whole summer, and they waited until the Fall to air new episodes. But with Cartoon Network's heavy schedule and "all new, every day" ethic for the summer, PUSA has to rush somethings and quality seems to be lost. I guess if were going right back into new episode in September or October, then how far we'll we be when that run ends? If they can do episodes this fast, hell, we could just wait two weeks for the dub episode. Imagine that quality.

Chris14 makes a really valid point. Now, you can argue the same with 4Kids and some of the 02-03 dub errors as they had the Fox Box to deal with, initially.

I think officially, it takes six months for a speedy one, like the first Snorlax episode, if you notice the airdates. But for CN, so far in D/P, it's been five months or less. Whoa.

I don't know. Personally, I like the fact that they're trying to keep up with Japan. It enables us to keep reasonably up to date and avoid some people that would otherwise post spoilers for the episodes way down the road (spoilers for a repetitive cartoon, never thought I'd hear myself say that).

Indeed, because of the long gap, I had to break down and look at Serebii.net's spoilers of the Groudon/Kyorge showdown. Heh. I don't mind like a six month gap, but anything further or nearer sounds lose-lose.

Right, or the fact I have to watch spoilers just to keep up in basic conversation anymore. Hah. Figure that out.

yeah, i wish CN wouldn't rush things as much either, the same pace as the japanese anime would be absolutie ly fine, which would be once a week, and now that we've gone through all the episodes, we have to go back to the beggining and repeat taht for a month then start over AGAIN build up to new episodes, and then repeat when they're done, it's crazy

Eh, yeah, I'm pretty worried about the painful hiatuses...since CN's lack of episodes means one less reason for me to be here, and that's a bad thing.

However, I like the idea of not being too far behind Japan. The point of spoilers is very valid in a medium such as this.

yeah, but still, it doesn't need to be short bursts then long waiting periods, once a week is perfect
