Well i have been playing a good week or 2, always collected but was way too busy to play.. Now i got the time and i got some important questions bout the game

    1. Retreat question
Okay so i can retreat a pokemon whenever, without a specific card to tell me to do so.. I understand that.. But Lets say one of my cards say to switch my pokemon with one of my benched pokemon.. So if i do that do i gotta still apply my retreat cost..

    2. Burned or poisoned question. after i do one of them 2 things to my opponent and they flip, if they get heads they still attack right?

    1. Thats a simple no.

    2. They attack regardless. Neither burn nor poison impedes on wether one may attack. If a pokemon is poisoned, put one damage counter on the pokemon BETWEEN turns. If a pokemon is burned, flip a coin BETWEEN turns. If tails, put two damage counter on that pokemon. If the pokemon is still alive, that person's turn proceeds as normal. If a pokemon is knocked out from poison or burn, the opponent draws a prize card and the player with the defeated pokemon must promote a benched pokemon or else they lose the game.

    Okay ty..
So ur telling me if 1 pokemon that does not have no retreat cost like(yanmaga), and his ability tells him to be benched...He keeps his energy cards and can come back whenever he wants after his turn.. That seems really cheat... Cause then my oppenent can just use that move, attack my benched pokemon and safely but him on his bench each turn of hiss wow.... thats just not right..

It's true. There's no such thing as a forced retreat. When something (Attack, Trainer, Poke-Power, etc.) tells you to you to switch, no retreat cost is involved. The cost of Energy is sort of like a penalty for Benching you're active Pokemon without the aid of any other card.

He keeps his energy cards and can come back whenever he wants after his turn..

Granted that the player has another pokémon with a zero retreat cost, or else another switch or warp point, sure. If not, he's still going to have to pay the retreat cost of pokémon B to get pokémon A (ther original one he switched out) back out.

If you're having trouble targetting an opponent because they keep changing their active, there are plenty of cards that either target the opponent's bench or switch the defending pokémon. You already know about yanmega, a great disruptor. But, you can use warp points too. Once you kill the opponent's free retreater (they usually have pretty low HP), use warp points to avoid paying a retreat cost AND pick off your opponent's in-progress pokémon (i.e. basics, stage ones, no energy, etc).

kk ty... my basic/fire deck is just pretty weak right now... i got a dark/water am building but i need alot of cards

If a trainer allows you to Switch with a bench Pokemon then it has no cost.
Poison and Burn only issue damage, they don't stop attacks unlike other status conditions.
