5th Gen Migration from ALL generations

I for one think the #1 best possible new feature would be migration (like Pal Park) from all generations into Black and White. Pokemon from RB or GS could be given neutral natures and you could choose their gender. Seriously, is the feature that hard to implement? I want to get my pokemon from Silver onto the same game as my pokemon from Ruby/Pearl. Come on Nintendo!

Anyone else agree?

Well, considering the DSi doesn't even have a GBA slot, I highly doubt it'll stretch for Gen 1/2 coverage.
Furthermore, Gen 1/2 are on completely different battle systems [like DVs instead of IVs, etc] and it wouldn't be able to work together. ):

Yes that's true, but they could make some attachment device for the regular DS. Even an expensive one. If enough people want their RBY / GSC teams migrateable, and given the fact that Nintendo makes both their own hardware and software, what's to prevent this?

It should be mentioned that we'll definitely get compatibility, though how much, who knows, with DPt and HG/SS. (Else you can't transfer the Movie 13 Raikou/Entei/Suicune over.) But honestly, Generation I and II compatibility? It's a lost cause, what with the new engine and everything.

The difference in battle systems shouldn't matter since migration is one-way. Any changes or additions to the system such as IVs can be approximated or even randomized upon migration.

Do you mean something like this:

You have a level 100 Porygon on Pokemon Red, you want to put it on your Pokemon Black version, so you grab your Pokemon Red, Pop it in the 3DS/DSi and Migrate away.

Because I don't think that would work, and if it did, it would take a loooonnnnggg time, why? Because, the graphics from a game that was made in 1996, to a game that was made in 2011, quite a lot of converting there, so if it worked, that would be cool, but I don't think it would.

compatability to GenI/GenII was dropped with R/S because of a huge overhaul they did with the structure of the game's internal coding. The newer games can't even make sense of the primitive data from RBYGSC era. If anything, it'll attempt to read the data and end up rendering it as a bad egg or a missingno. =/

So it's not likely to return ever. It's not as if GF dropped it just to make you miserable and then profit from remakes...they dropped it because they streamlined the games' coding system in such a way that blocked out previous generation.

I'm sure it's possible for them pull this off, maybe through wifi or something. But I'd say it's highly unlikely anything like this happens, for this generation at least.

Maybe some day they will expand on the wifi features and add something like this.

I think it's unlikely, mainly because that's one of the main reasons Fire Red and Leaf Green, and later Heart Gold and Soul Silver were released. If you really want to get R/B/Y or G/S/C Pokemon onto Black or White, then I think you'll have to play through FR/LG and/or HG/SS and raise a new bunch.

No, it will never happen.

Also, the gender would be chosen at random. Just like it was when you traded Pokemon from RBYG to GSC. Same for the shinyness.

Someone already brought up the Trading system which is the Migration system from what I've seen. We don't even know if there is a Migration system on Black and White. That may have been written out with the addition of both the Poke Shifter AND Dream World.

I think this is highly unlikely to happen.

Yes it is hard to implement. Damn hard. There was a massive change in Pokémon architecture between Gen II and III specifically because Gamefreak knew backtrades would not be possible so they could rewrite how everything worked.

While it's possible they could compensate for the totally different architectures the biggest bridge to pass is simply hardware. Physically there is no way to connect a Gameboy game to a Nintendo DS. They are two completely different systems. Never mind the fact that the Gameboy/Gameboy Color is now a dead system which means Nintendo no longer support it or manufacture it. This pretty much kills any chance of your idea ever happening.

Why would you want this feature anyway? It's possible to capture every single Pokémon in almost every generation, certainly recent ones, so it's not like there are any Pokémon you would desperately need this feature for. The fact that you can move Pokémon from Gen III to Gen V is pretty impressive in itself. Just consider Gen I and II closed systems and be thankful not every generation is entirely shut off from the next.

The DS cannot play GBC games. Pokémon from the Third Generation onward can be transferred to Black and White.
