Here's some intelligence for your next airplane flight:
First, if you can't find a reasonably-priced plane ticket, or need a last-minute flight, check the airlines just after midnight. According to Real Simple magazine, that's when unconfirmed reservations are often released and become available. And on Wednesday at midnight, new prices are released, but they go up again on Friday.
Then, have you ever wondered whether a crazy passenger could open the emergency exit on an airplane in flight? The answer is no – cabin pressure is stronger than even the most deranged human. That's from commercial airline pilot Patrick Smith, author of Ask the Pilot.
Another bit of intelligence for your next plane trip comes from Reader's Digest. Researchers found that you're less likely to have a heart attack while flying, than driving. Why? One word...Stress. When you drive, you have to concentrate. And that raises your blood pressure – and raises your risk of having a heart attack.
And here are a couple of gadgets to make your next flight that much better:
First, there's the Search-Alert Lock. You can use your own combination to lock your luggage. But Airport Security can still open it with a special key. And you'll know immediately if your suitcase was searched, because a little green light turns red when the lock is opened.
Also, if you don't want to be bombarded by stinky breath from the person sitting next to you, wear an Air Supply Wearable Purifier around your neck. It's an air filter, about the size of a pack of cards……And it gets rid of dust, pollution, and odors.
