Introduction

With OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire on the horizon, it's time we truly honoured the Hoenn region - by hosting our very own Grand Festival! Players can sign up for this immense tournament of skill and beauty, whether they partake or merely observe is up to them. This roleplay will be our counterpart to the PC Get Together. Whether you're new to The Roleplay Corner or a seasoned veteran, whether you can only post once or twice or you're in it for the prizes - join in! This roleplay will last approximately 3 weeks.

The Grand Festival is a celebration of Pokémon for their beauty - it's all about combination and timing, elegance and finesse, rather than just power. Each region has its own Festival, similar to the Pokémon League, where coordinators travel to to take part. Our Grand Festival, nestled in Slateport, is one of the biggest events on the Hoenn calendar.

Stages

This tournament has two rounds - the first is an appeals round, where players write an individual post showcasing a pokémon. Remembering to display a creative and unique use of moves. The second round is a double-battle round, where continuing players will write a joint post describing their battle.

During both stages, combination moves play a huge part in contests. Combination moves can be pulled off by a single, talented pokemon or can utilise their partner in a double battle. A list of all known anime combinations can be found here. These should help inspire you, and should not be directly copied (of course!).

TENTATIVE DATES:
27^th July: Sign-ups begin
1^st August - 8^th August: Players can roleplay free-form.
8^th August - 15^th August: Appeals begin.
15^th August - 22^nd August: Double battles begin.
22^nd August - 25^th August: Scores counted (roleplaying can continue).

Rules of each section will be clarified on the starting date, when one of the moderators will give the sign to start! :)

Locations

There are several locations to make the most of in Slateport City - you don't just have to hang around the stands, especially if you're not keen on the competition side! Below we have compiled a list of 'must see' places for you to visit.

(1) The Contest Hall - Site of the Grand Festival, your characters may have visited here before in previous contests. There is a small entrance hall, where players can sign in with reception staff, which then leads out to the arena, lined with enough seats for a 1,000 strong audience.

(2) The Ferry Port - Your characters might be arriving by boat, if they are this is where they'll dock. It's a fairly small port, with room for just one boat to land at a time.

(3) Pokémon Center - Here you can heal, have a meal or take a rest - there are private rooms available for those competing in the Grand Festivals. Make sure to be polite to Nurse Joy and Chansey!

(4) The Name Rater's House - Ever fancied giving your Pokémon a bit more personality? Why not rename them! Of course you could always just enjoy a lucid conversation as the Name Rater coo's over your already perfect nickname choice.

(5) Pokémon Fan-House - Another perfect location to show off your Pokémon, discuss strategies. The owner of the fanclub loves to see Pokémon that have a unique bond with their trainer.

(6) Mart - Quick potions are available here as well as medicines and other basics.

(7) The Museum - Slateport's museum focuses on nautical life - see samples of ancient water Pokémon, learn more about waterfalls and whirlpools and have a look around old boats and equipment.

(8) The Marketplace - This open-air market is the biggest in Hoenn, they sell many toys, clothing and Pokémon accessories, so you can doll your character and their Pokémon up before the contests start. For an idea of what might be sold here click the link here - you may expand on this list!

(9) The Beach - Just to the south of the city is the beautiful beach. The perfect location for relaxing and playing with your Pokémon - or the ideal battleground against another trainer, it's your choice.

"To Slateport City Valor!" as Austin said those words, him and the Swallow Pokemon were already up in the air. The winds of Fortree city were blowing against them, the trip to Slateport consume roughly 10 to 15 minutes, Austin took the time to think about his Grand Festival strategy. He closed his eyes and imagined the crowed cheering for him, he won of course, he took a bow, and the day dream ended. He petted Valor and silently said, "Were gonna win this, for mom, dad and grandma," He eyed his ribbons, all five of them, his tickets to the contest. One red, one orange, one blue, one green and the last one is a black one. He wouldn't forget his black ribbon, he earned it the day his grandma died. He sighed.

Valor took a steep dive then spun in midair, Austin smiled, he was used to his bird's tricks. With grace, they landed on the sandy shores of the beach in Slateport City.

Emerald and his six companions are preparing for the trip to Slateport City from Dewford Island where the group has been taking a well earned break and maybe getting a tan. Emerald hated keeping his Pokémon cooped up inside of a Poké Ball but it was necessary to do so in order to heal them at the Pokémon Center.
"Come on out!" Emerald shouts as six Poké Balls sail through the air. Red beams of light materialize into Pokémon. First, Lotad, who leaps high into the air and lands on Emerald's head with a plop. Lapras appears on the shoreline, ready to travel the seas with Emerald once more. Espeon, his first and most beloved companion walks and places herself to the left of Emerald. Growlithe trots over to Emerald's right, hoping to impress Espeon. Lil' Lileep, extremely excited to explore the oceans, is already on Lapras, eager to set out. And Slakoth is still asleep... Emerald sighs and gently lifts the slumbering Pokémon and places him on his back, Slakoth's favorite bed. The group says goodbye to Dewford and set out to Slateport where the Grand Festival awaits them.

Emerald already decided which Pokémon would compete. Slakoth cant stay awake long enough so he isnt competing. Lapras and Growlithe conpeted in the last contest so it is only fair to let the others compete in this one.

Sailing through Route 109 on Lapras, Slateport City came into view. Landing on the beach, Emerald tells Lapras to wait there while he brings back some Soda Pops. Emerald had been to Slateport once before and the Soda Shop on the beach was his favorite and being friends with the owner got Emerald a discount. He walked back to where his Pokémon were relaxing and they all enjoyed a nice refreshing soda pop while pondering their next move. Emerald knew that Lileep wanted to visit the Oceanic Museum so perhaps they would go there next.

The Adventures of Cabbage

"All passengers aboard the S.S Tidal, we have arrived in Slateport City! If you're a trainer in this year's tournament, please exit the ship. All remaining passengers, please hold on until we get to Battle Frontier! Thank you for riding with us!"

As Cabbage heard the announcements, she smiled. Her Castform cried in joy, mainly because she was sick of being stuck inside. With that, she exited her dorm and walked down across the ship until she reached the exit. There were already waves of trainers there, but she didn't mind a bit. As everyone was exiting, the sailor there kept saying good day. When Cabbage finally reached to the exit, the sailor greeted her too.

" Fine day Miss Cabbage. I'll tell Flinn that you made it safe and sound."

" Thanks Huey, but that's not necessary. I can just call my father from my Pokenav."

Huey grunted as Cabbage said this. Then he shook his head.

" Kids and your gadgets these days. Tell him I said hello and good luck on the tournament!"

Cabbage smiled. With that, she waved good bye to him as she got off. As she arrived at the harbour, she saw lots of reporters from different tv channels exclaim what an exciting day it was. This is too much, Cabbage thought. I'll just call my dad from the outside. With that, Cabbage weaved her way out of trainers, residents of Slateport, and the reporters as she made it out alive. Castform, not being too behind, was attracting a lot of attention from the residents. It wasn't until Cabbage heard all the cute talk that Castform was missing. Startled, she turned around and saw a little girl trying to hug her partner.

"Look at this pokemon mommy! It's so cute! I want it!"

Cabbage approached to the little girl with a smile.

"I see you like my Castform there."

The little girl nodded. She smiled and hugged Castform more.

" I want it! It's so cute!"

"Sure!"

Castform looked horrified as Cabbage said this. It wasn't until Cabbage winked at her that she understood.

"But, don't you want to see my other cute pokemon?"

The girl jumped up and down, causing for her to choke on Castform.

"Yes! More cute pokemon! I want more!"

She squealed and jumped around some more.

"Okay. Come on out!"

She summoned her Flygon and the dragon roared out loud. Horrified, the little girl let go of Castform.

"That's not cute! MOMMY!"

With that, the girl ran off crying. Cabbage smiled as Castform went right by her side.

"It's okay Castform. She won't harass us anytime soon. Thanks Flygon! Return!"

She returned her Flygon and as quickly as she could, she got outside. She could smell the ocean air. It almost smelled like home back at Lilycove. Speaking of Lilycove...

"Castform, let's go to the beach!"

Castform cheered. Cabbage knew her pokemon would appreciate it. After all, this is their tradition when visiting Slateport. I can call my dad later, Cabbage thought. Time for some sunbathing!

Farah brought her hand up for use as a shield as sand came flying towards her face. Once she'd blocked it, she lowered her arm and angled her head so she could look over her sunglasses at the culprit. "Yeah, could you not? Thanks," she said, annoyed. The beach was nice and she didn't mind people, but she didn't enjoy having sand kicked in her face by a couple of teenagers trying to hit each other with blasts of it.

"S-sorry," the boy who had done the kicking muttered before walking away, embarrassed.

Farah laid back and rested her head on her arms, letting the sunlight wash over her. Her Eevee, Zenaida, and her Espurr, Casimir, slept in the sand next to her while Désirée, her Vivillon, and Vespasien, her Noibat, fluttered about overhead. She was taking this time to relax before the start of the Grande Festival. She'd spent enough time running around, and the Grande Festival was the last stop in her journey around Hoenn, so it was time to take in the sun.

She let out a relaxed sigh as she listened to the waves washing over the sand. Wingull and Pelipper let out frequent chirps as they circled in the air and occasionally landed on the beach. The breeze was cool and gentle, and the sound if it complemented the waves nicely. The allowed a bright smile to cross her face. This place was beautiful and the tropical weather was gorgeous; she couldn't ask for a better place to be for an event such as the Grande Festival.

"You're not planning to enter the Grande Festival with those Pokémon, are you?" Farah opened her eyes to see a boy standing in front of her, snickering and pointing at her companions.

She sat up and glared at the boy. "Some of them, yes. Do you have a problem with that?"

The boy let out a laugh. "Problem, me? No, of course not! But you might! The only evolved Pokémon you have here is the bug! Good luck getting very far with that joke of a team!"

The boy started to walk away, but Farah tapped Casimir, waking the little Espurr. She nodded at the boy and the psychic cat tripped the boy with its telekinetic abilities. He fell face first and ingested a mouthful of sand. "There's something wrong with them not being evolved? That has nothing to do with their skill. Besides, a Pokémon Contest is a competition of finesse and grace, things that I can see you clearly lack."

The boy got to his feet and dusted himself off. He looked back at Farah angrily. "Oh yeah? If you're so sure of yourself, have a battle with me!" He reached into a pocket on his swim trunks and pulled out two Poké Balls, hurling them in the air. They popped open and in two flashes of light a Camerupt and Flygon appeared.

Farah got to her feet, letting her long brown hair fall from beneath her sunhat and down her back. She motioned for Zenaida and Vespasien to enter the battle. The Eevee and Noibat complied as Farah distanced herself from her opponent, so as to give their Pokémon enough room to battle. A few bystanders caught wind of what was going on and decided to watch, while others cleared out to avoid the battle altogether.

"We'll keep it simple: a two on two double battle! Last one standing wins!"

"Fine with me!" Farah yelled back to the boy. "You can take the first move!"

"Cameron, Lava Plume! Fleragon, Sand Tomb!"

The Camerupt loosed a flowering of flames, and the Flygon ducked beneath it and whipped up a twister of sand with its wings. The attacks combined to form a gritty fire whirl, which sped right towards Zenaida and Vespasien.

Farah grinned. "Not bad! But you'll have to do better! Vespasien, Hurricane! Zenaida, Shadow Ball!"

Vespasien flapped his wings furiously, at first drumming up a slight breeze that quickly evolved into a full force gale, lifting up sand and water and sending items flying. Farah made sure that the random objects were kept in check by Casimir's Psychic. Zenaida jumped in a moment later, leaping above Vespasien and launching a Shadow Ball right into the center of the gale. The dark mass of energy was ripped apart as it merged with the intense winds, creating a black storm that extinguished the sandy fire whirl and incorporated its grit and flames into its own winds. The multi-combination move slammed into the Camerupt and Flygon duo, tossing them both to the side.

The boy stared on in shock, glancing between his two large Pokémon and Farah's comparatively puny companions. "Fleragon, get back up and use Dragon Claw on the Noibat! Cameron, power up with Curse!"

"Combine Psychic and Swift!" Farah commanded.

As the Flygon charged in to rake Vespasien, Zenaida jumped in front of it and launched of stream of star-shaped energy with Swift. Vespasien took control of the projectiles with Psychic, causing them to swirl around the Flygon and tighten as it came closer to Vespasien. Before the Flygon could reach him, Vespasien forced the ring of stars to close, digging into the Flygon from all around, forcing the dragon out of the sky and into the sand. In the meantime, the Camerupt had bulked itself up with Curse, which meant it was stronger but slower.

Before Farah could rattle off another command, the Flygon suddenly jumped back up out of the sand and completed its attack, knocking Vespasien to the ground. It retreated and landed next to the Camerupt.

"Vesp, Roost!" The Noibat drew its wings in close and sat on the ground, restoring its energy.

"Now's your chance, Cameron! Earthquake!" The Camerupt reared up onto its hind legs and slammed back down onto the ground, but its legs dropped into the soft sand and nothing happened.

"Unless you can get some traction, the sand is just going to absorb the shock from your attack before any real damage can be done," Farah explained, smirking.

"Damn it! Rock Slide! Feint Attack!" The Camerupt reared again, but this time it produced a flurry of large stones that it tossed at Vespasien and Zenaida. The Flygon disappeared, making itself momentarily invisible.

Zenaida and Vespasien dodged the stones with ease, out speeding the Camerupt with no problem since it had been slowed by its own Curse. But before Farah could do anything to track the Flygon's movements, it had materialized by Vespasien and delivered another blow to the little bat.

"Grab it!" Farah commanded instantly. Vespasien immediately grabbed onto the Flygon's neck, gripping it tightly. "Outrage!" Vespasien lashed out, dragging the Flygon from side to side before slamming it into the sand. He continued to rage at it, dishing out supper effective damage left and right. Zenaida assisted with another Shadow Ball, which Vespasien caught and slammed down onto the head of the Flygon.

When the little bat finally retreated from the much larger dragon, the Flygon had been knocked out. The trainer recalled it and gave his Camerupt another command to use Lava Plume.

"Vesp, grab onto Zen!" Before the flames from the Lava Plume could touch them, Vespasien had hitched a ride on Zenaida's back as she closed the cap between them and the Camerupt with a Quick Attack. When they got in close, Zenaida jumped away and Vespasien dove under the Camerupt. A moment later the Eruption Pokémon was airborne from a close range Hurricane. It slammed back down to the ground with a heavy thud, rendering it unconscious.

Farah called her Pokémon back to her side and laughed. "See? Evolutionary stages have nothing to do with it! It comes down to skill, which is how I plan to win this tournament."

The boy recalled his Camerupt and simply glared at Farah, his cheeks burning red from a mixture of anger and embarrassment. He stormed off.

"Well, okay then." Farah stretched, adjusted the towel that she had been laying on, and returned to her previous position of relaxation. She was happier than ever now, and she hummed a little tune as her victory brightened her mood. Things were off to a good start.​

After a short nap in the sun, Emerald decided to take his cute Lil' Lileep to the Oceanic Museum, where ancient artifacts from the ocean floor were recovered. The Sea Lilly Pokémon was standing on the shore, slumbering gently as he rocked back and forth with the waves. Lapras was floating nearby, playing with some wild Starmy and Horsea who drifted around her. Espeon's pink fur moved in the breeze as sunlight bathed over her. Emerald reached over from his chair and gently scratched the top of her head.

"Can you watch over the others Espy, Im going to take Lileep to the museum"

Espeon tilted her head to the side to allow Emerald to scratch for a bit longer. She then nodded, stretched and layed back down.

Emerald then strode over to Lileep and gently shook him awake.
"You wanna go to the museum?"

Lileep shook his tentacles in excitement and wobbled over to where Emerald was standing. The pair started walking towards the museum. Emerald thought about his first visit to the museum, when Team Aqua showed up and attempted to steal some important parts of a ship from Captain Stern. Emerald and Espeon defeated the Team Aqua grunts and nothing was stolen. The museum actually made a great deal of money that day as all of the grunts had to pay the entrance fee.

Emerald opened the glass doors and the pair walked in where they were greeted.

"Welcome to the Oceanic Museum, The entrance fee is 50 Poké Dollars. Would you like to enter?"

"Yes, Thank you" Emerald reached into his pocket, withdrew a coin, and handed it to the receptionist.

"Please enjoy yourself" she said as Emerald turned his attention to Lileep who was already in front of one of the displays.

Emerald read the display. "Oceanic Minifact 1- Why is seawater blue?" "Light is composed of many colors. When light passes through water, most kinds of light lose color. However, blue light retains it's color, making the sea appear blue," When Emerald looked up, Lileep had already moved on to the next display.

Emerald glanced at the case Lileep was in front of. "Thats a fossil, just like you used to be"
Lileep looked briefly at Emerald then back at the case.

Suddenly, Lileep turned then dashed up the stairs. Emerald, startled, followed and soon discovered what Lileep had chased. Another Pokémon trainer had taken her Omanyte to the museum as well and Lileep hadnt seen another Fossil Pokémon in quite a while.

The trainer saw the Lileep and exclaimed "Aww, how cute!" as she rubbed Lileep's side. She turned to Emerald.
"Hi, my name's Crystal, your Lileep is adorable,"

"My name's Emerald, and thank you"

"Would you care for a battle?"

Emerald was about to decline the offer when he looked at the two Pokémon gleefully playing and he knew what Lileep would want.
"Sure, loser buys the winner a soda?"

"Deal. Make it two Sodas, Im kinda thirsty,"

Emerald chuckled as they walked outside. As the two trainers and their Pokémon took positions, people stood nearby to watch the battle.

"Ladies first," Emerald said as he gestured her to proceed.

"Alright then, Omanyte use Ice Beam!"

A small ball of blue light formed in front of Omanyte's mouth and shot towards Lileep.
"Lileep use Ingrain"

Roots grew all around Lileep's base as the Ice Beam hit. Emerald could feel the cold as it washed over Lileep.

"Recover!"

Icy mist still surrounded Lileep as he healed himself. Crystal, knowing that Ingrain will prevent Lileep from dodging yelled "Omanyte use waterfall"

Emerald smiled as the Pokémon sped towards the mist, enveloped in water. "Lileep, absorb the water!"

Crystal looked in amazement and shock as the water disappeared and Lileep looked better than ever.

"Use Giga Drain"

Now powered up by his storm drain ability, Lileep wrapped his tentacles around Omanyte and absorbed her energy. Omanyte fell to the ground exhausted.

"You did good Omanyte," Crystal said as she picked up her Pokémon.

She put Omanyte back down and Lileep walked over. The four then went to the Soda Shop. As Cyrstal was reachig into her backpack to buy the Sodas, Emerald gave the owner money and held up the bottles.

"A gentleman always pays," he remarked as he handed over two bottles.

"Thanks," She looked away so Emerald wouldnt be able to see her blushing.

The four walked over to Emerald's Pokémon and sat down. Espeon opened one eye, yawned, then closed her eye. The two trainers sat and watched as their Pokémon has some fun in the sun.

The beach today was peaceful, beautiful sea, breezy ambiance, the Wingulls overhead. Everything was perfect. He trekked the beach to the Pokemon Center, trying to avoid not getting sidetracked by the many attractions than can be found around the city. From museums, shops, to the Grand Festival venue itself. Upon arrival, he has greeted by Nurse Joy and Chansey. He requested them to heal all 3 of his Pokemon and issued himself a room he can stay in for the rest of the Grand Festival.

He went to his simple room while his Pokemon were getting healed and checked. There was only a bunk bed, a table with a lamp, a mirror and a window in the room. He launched his backpack to the top bed and rested on the bottom bed. It was still early, maybe a battle near the beach, or visiting the museum, or shopping. There were plenty of things to be done.

"Nothing like good old suntan. Right Castform?"

After a while of saying this, Cabbage peered up from her sunglasses just to see Castform playing at the edge of the water. She smiled, for she should be expecting this from her. But Cabbage had a plan. She got up and lifted up her sunglasses.

"Who wants some lemonade?"

Castform immediately looked up and ran towards Cabbage. Works every time, Cabbage thought to herself. As both walked into the mini bar, Cabbage stopped in her tracks. Could it be... Nah. It couldn't possibly be him... Not here.... Castform clearly saw her trainer lost in thought and saw him too.

"On the count of three, we walk out of here. Okay Castform?"

Castform nodded, and looked a bit disappointed about having no lemonade.

"1..."

Cabbage started walking backwards, making sure he did not see her.

"2..."

Luckily for Cabbage, he still wasn't looking at their direction. He was too entertained by whoever he was with.

"Three!"

They both ran like maniacs as they made it out the beach. Skip the lemonade, Cabbage thought.

Emerald sat down and ordered another soda.
"These things are going to be the death of me" he sighed as the owner handed him other soda.

"Dont die any time soon, you're good for business," retorted the owner.

He looked around. Business, had been good and the shop was able to invest in Lemonade and Fresh Water. The items were a big hit with Trainers, mostly because their Pokemon would never stop drinking them if they had their way. Emerald's addiction to Soda considerably helped. The shop was even able to send vending machines to the Unova region.

Emerald glanced at the clock. It was about time to get back to the Pokemon Center and maybe prepare for the festival.

As he turned and got up from the bar stool, Emerald caught sight of white ball floating away, a somewhat familiar ball. It must be a Pokemon. His curiosity peaked,Emerald followed.

It is a beautiful and sunny day here in Slateport! The sky was blue, filled with Wingulls and Pellipers flying over the city. The sea was serene, with the waves crashing to the beach, and Tentacools and Tentacruels seen in the distance. The vibe inside the city was so upbeat, that if you placed a soundtrack attributed to the city, you would swear, would add trumpets and french horns in the background.

Well, that's what I think of it.

I arrived to Slateport City, after biking from Cycling Road, in the north of the town.

"Here we are guys! Our final challenge here in Hoenn! The Grand Festival!" I muttered.

I decided to go to the Pokemon Center first to heal up and rest, then go to the Contest Hall to scope the place out. I biked into the city, till I reached the iconic red roofed building.

As the doors slid open, I was flabbergasted on how many people were inside. Since it was the Grand Festival, a lot of the coordinators, who received atleast 5 ribbons, are currently staying here for the occasion. I took out my ribbon case, to admire the 5 ribbons that I received in my Hoenn run.

I received the first ribbon in Lilycove City, which was blue-colored. My second ribbon was from Mossdeep City, which was pink-colored. The third ribbon was from Ever Grande City, which was red-colored. My fourth was in Fallarbor Town, which was orange-colored. Then my last ribbon, and my latest one, was from Verdanturf Town, which was green-colored.

I smiled as I recalled every memory in Hoenn. I returned my ribbon case back in my bag and went to the healing station to heal up.

"Hello! Welcome to the Pokemon Center! Do you want to heal your Pokemon?" asked Nurse Joy, who was manning the station, like all Nurse Joy's in every city or town.

"Sure, Nurse Joy! By the way, can I have a room to stay for the Grand Festival?" I asked.

"Of course! I just need your full name, your hometown, your Trainer Card, and your ribbon case." She replied.

"I'm Maria Consolacion Vivides Sarini, from Floaroma Town, Sinnoh, but you can call me Solace" I smiled as I gave her my trainer card, ribbon case, and my Pokemon.

She scanned the Trainer Card and each of the ribbons first to verify, and healed my Pokemon up.

"Congratulations Solace! You are officially registered for the Festival! Here is your card key, which is Room 413, and your map to the area! Good luck!" She said while giving back my stuff and the card key, which has 413 inscribed on it.

"Thanks Nurse Joy!" I thanked her as I proceeded to my room and unpacked my things.

Boy, this is gonna be a loooooong week.​

He decided to go to the museum first, bringing a digital camera for pictures and his newly healed Pokemon. Upon arrival, a large dark blue-green building loomed over him. After 5 minutes of waiting in line, he payed a small fee then finally entered. Greeting him were several cases of fossils, the remains of prehistoric Pokemon in petrified form, it was a fascinating sight. It was his first time seeing fossils. There were some Pokemon enclosed in stone, some were in clay, some were in a blue coloration, some green. And a lone yellow amber rested on the center of the first floor.

On the second floor, a particular subject interested him. Ships. An array of ship parts were displayed. There was even a real old boat! He stayed on the museum for about 15 minutes, only to be talking pictures, then something unexpected happened. "HELP!"​

As soon as they were far away from the beach, Cabbage and Castform stopped from running.There, Cabbage thought. That should put some distance between us. Then again, it's not like Slateport is a huge place. Now what...

All of a sudden, her Pokenav was ringing. Castform gave Cabbage a curious look. Cabbage pull it out and gulped when she saw who it was.

"Just great Castform. With all that running I forgot to call my dad."

She pressed the button to answer.

"Hi dad."

"Why haven't you called me yet? You arrived at least an hour ago."

Cabbage gulped. She knew she was in for trouble. Instead telling the whole truth, Cabbage lied.

"Dad, you know how Castform and me love sunbathing. I guess we let time fly. Sorry dad."

He sighed through the Pokenav. Then he responded.

"It's okay Cabbage. I understand. Anyway, are you getting ready for the festival?"

"Dad, you know me. I'm ready for anything with Castform by my side!"

"And to think you two didn't get along first... Oh well. I gotta go to work soon. Good luck in the festival. Make us Evergreens proud. Okay?"

"I promise dad. Bye!"

With that, Cabbage hung up. She sighed in relief. She looked at Castform.

" Let's go to the Pokemon Center. We need to take out some friends so we can train. That okay with you?"

Castform cried in glee. So it was settled then. Both of them walked inside and Cabbage headed straight to the computers.

A black figure zipped right pass him, and the source of the shriek was a lady stripped from her purse. "Help! My purse got stolen!" she frantically cried. Austin, being the hero he is, ran, following the masked man. He saw the thief running outside the museum, the bystanders were speechless and none moved an inch. Austin ignored them. He trailed the man who was heading for the route up ahead. "Go Finick!" he threw a Pokeball which held a Clawitzer up in the air. The blue crab was summoned and crawled beside him. Despite its large claw, the Clawitzer kept up with him.

The running man looked back and saw the Clawitzer and its trainer chasing after him. "Zweilous use Dragon Breath!" the thief released his Hostile Pokemon. It roared, unleashing a blue and yellow stream of dragon energy at the Clawitzer. "Finick, counter it with a Dragon Pulse!" ordered Austin. The blue crab opened its laucher slash claw. Aim 50%, aim 80%, aim 100%, it carefully targeted the Zweilous while the Dragon Breath was heading their way.

"Fire!" A controlled stream of royal blue and red Dragon-type energy was fired out of its cannon. Absorbing the Dragon Breath with it. The Zweilous heads screamed as the pulse made contact. It was super effective. "Hyper Voice, full force!"​

"Nervous, huh?"

Fleur petted her Togekiss as they both looked down, their happy face just went away after looked at many trainers's performance. Pressure keep shooted to her heart like every moment by now. She was kinda want to cancel her registration--but she just couldn't bear to do it. After all, Li'l, her Lilligant was there and really excited.

"Yeah, yeah, Li'l. You're beautiful and confident..." sighed, "maybe I should go around the town."

Togekiss and Doru looks cheered up a bit and nods. Fleur simply smile and put her three pokemon inside their pokeball and walked out the contest hall. Cool breeze that welcomed her presence already made her all happy. Maybe when she forget a bit about other contestants, her confident and easygoing came back.

"So maybe I could get some food from the Pokemon Center..."
She walks as she's whistling a random note, only find bird pokemon around hate it. Don't really care about it, she continued her activities until she finally reached a red and white building that almost every city and town got. Yes, it's the Pokemon Center.

"Nurse Joy? Can I have some food, I'm hungry..."
It's not that feminime to say about hunger in public, but that's her for sure. Nurse Joy didn't even scold her, she was happily assist her. Fleur always thankful that there is still people like Nurse Joy, because people around now sometimes so rude. Well you could see the example, just looked at Fleur.

"Wait at the cafeteria area, I'll serve the food there~"

"Oh yeah!"​

Emerald had lost sight of his quarry. 'What was that,' he thought, 'O well, better get to the Pokémon Center and register for the Grand Festival before I forget.'

Emerald strolled through the Slateport Market on the way to the Pokémon Center. The first stall sold Poké Dolls and Emerald was tempted to buy one but he already had plenty at his secret base. Lotad seemed to love Poké Dolls, but thats a story for another day. Emerald walked over to the next set of stalls. On the right a lady was selling some TMs but Emerald never used them unless his Pokémon really wanted to learn the move. On the left was a man selling energy supplements.
'Probably a scam' thought Emerald but as he turned to walk away the Energy Guru's wife approached him.

"Wait!, Is that your Espeon?" She asked hurriedly

"Yes," said Emerald simply.

"Wait here," and with that the lady walked back to her stall and started rummaging through a trunk.

Espeon looked up at Emerald then back at the lady as she returned and handed a ribbon to Emerald.

"This is for your Pokémon, you both have earned it"

"Ummm, Thank you?"

"No, Thank you" and with that said she turned and walked back to the stall.

Emerald held his hand out to Espeon who then used Psychic to attach the ribbon to her shoulder. Puzzled, Emerald continued walking pass the stalls, ignoring the berry crush lady completely. He then walked straight to the Pokémon Center. It was getting late and Emerald didn't want to wait until tomorrow to register. Emerald and his Pokémon walked in and looked around. There were Trainers and Coordinators everywhere. All here either to participate or watch the Grand Festival. Emerald walked up to the counter where a Trainer was talking to Nurse Joy. It sounded like the trainer said her name was Solace. 'Shouldn't eavesdrop,' Emerald thought as he scolded himself. He looked to the side and saw some computers.
'I should call Professor Birch, let him know In in Slateport. My mom is probably worried too,'

As the trainer in front of him walked away, Emerald stepped foward.

"Im here to register for the festival. Here are my ribbons and my trainer card, My name's Emerald Constantine," Emerald handed the two items to Nurse Joy.

She took them. "Would you like a room to stay in during the duration of the festival?"

She handed back the ribbon case and trainer card as he replied, "No thanks,"

"Ok then, all set. You have been registered. The Festival starts soon. Dont miss it,"

"I wont, thank you,"

Emerald walked over to one of the booths with a computer. He could hear the sound of Pokémon being withdrawn as he dialed Professor Birch's number. The computer rang for a couple of seconds and then the Professor's face popped up on the screen.

"Hello, Professor"

"Why hello Emerald, how are you?"

"Fine, thanks, I just wanted to tell you Im in Slateport and registered for the Grand Festival. Could you tell my mom I said hi?"

"Sure thing Emerald, You know back in my day...
-5 Minutes Later-
and those were the good ol days,"

"Ok Professor, Bye"

Emerald hung up as Birch waved goodbye. Espeon looked up at Emerald and mewed hungrily.
"Lets get some food" he said to his Pokémon as he got up from the seat and left the booth.

Now who to take out?, Cabbage thought. Flareon? Glaceon? Charizard? You know what, maybe this combo. Cabbage withdrew three pokemon and logged out.

"Castform, say hello to Torterra, Garchomp, and Dedenne!"

Castform cheered in glee. Then Castform nudged Cabbage towards the nurse. At first Cabbage looked quizzically at her but then realized what her partner meant. Then Cabbage smacks herself on the forehead.

"Duh. I completely forgot. I have to confirm that we are here, or else we won't be able to participate in the festival. Thanks Castform!"

She nodded and she went ahead first. Cabbage quickly followed behind her. Cabbage then was at the front desk and talked to the nurse.

"Excuse me nurse. I'm confirming my registration to participate in this year's festival. Here's my ID."

Cabbage pulls out her ribbon badge case and her trainer card to the nurse. She smiles as she confirms it, types something on the computer, and hands the items back to Cabbage.

"All done," the nurse says with a smile. "Would you like me to reserve a room for your stay?"

Cabbage considered this. She look to Castform and see if she minded. She just cried happily.

"Sure. Thank you nurse."

"Okay, I just need to confirm it...." The nurse typed on her computer again. "Done. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your stay in Slateport!"

Cabbage smiled at her as she put her things in her backpack. Then both Cabbage and her Castform exited out the center.

"What you want to do Castform? I'm fresh out of ideas."

Without a sound, Castform went towards the beach.

"Castform! Seriously?"

By the time Cabbage caught up, Castform was already at the entrance of the shop.

"You really want that drink, huh? Fine then."

Cabbage cheered as both walked inside. She walked up to the man. Cabbage pulled out some money in advance.

"Can I buy a lemonade and a soda pop?"

"Sure, just give me a minute. Meanwhile, help yourself to sit on a table."

Cabbage nodded and gave the man the money. Castform already was sitting on a table to the left.

"Dear me and this Castform..."

Cabbage went over there and sat on the table. A little while later the man came with their drinks.

"Enjoy!"

Then he left without another word. Cabbage was about to help herself to a drink when she heard a scream.

"MOMMY! There's that scary girl mommy!"

Uh oh, Cabbage thought. Now I'm in for it.

Dallas Reed: Beach

Dallas fell back in the sand and put his arms behind his head and closed his eyes to enjoy the beach. The sand was hot on his back, but it felt great. The sun was beating down on his already tan body form spending so much time in Hoenn. He had received 5 ribbons with an additional 6 badges. The the ribbons were from all over Hoenn. One was a black color with orange trim. Another was purple with red trim and red dots. Another was a solid orange color which was his favorite. He had light blue one with dark blue trim and squares. End his 5th was a ribbon that was a dark green that looked like a four lead clover with gold colored trim. He could hear the waves crashing on the beach and wingull and pelipper chirping above. He heard a girl yell that it didn't matter if a pokemon evolved or not. Which was very much true. Even some of his pokemon hadn't fully evolved. He leaned up and put his hands behind him to keep him up. He watched his pokemon play. Litleo, Skiddo, Pancham and Eevee were chasing one another. His Rufflet was flying around with the bird pokemon that flew over head and his Pikachu laid nearby, relaxing in a bath of sand. Of course, these were not his only pokemon. He had many other, he just didn't bring them all out.

"Why does this beach attract so many trainers?" He asked to himself.

He stood up, getting ready to go swim.

"Rufflet! Watch everyone ok! I am gonna go take a swim in the ocean!" He called to his bird pokemon.

'Ruf!' Rufflet chirped in agreement.

As he swam, he saw a few pokemon playing with a Lapras and it gave him an idea. He swam back to shore and pulled a few pokeballs out of his bag he had made so he could keep all his pokemon with him.

"Froakie, Empoleon, and Talonflame! Come on out and play!" He yelled.

Froakie and Empoleon appeared and quickly headed to water and jumped in to play with other pokemon. Talonflame took off in the air and started playing with the pokemon Rufflet was playing with. Rufflet and Talonflame had become close friends over their travels.

Before he got back in the water, he wondered if he had done everything.

"Let's see... I got my room... and I have already registered with Talonflame, Empoleon and Gardevoir. Yeah that everything, now lets go have some more fun!" He cheered to himself as he jumped back into the water.

After a while, he decided to bring all of his pokemon back in and go back to lay in the sand. Eevee was the only pokemon who did not return. Eevee usually was always out. Dallas never wondered why. After a few minutes, the little Eevee crawled onto Dallas's stomach and continued to sleep.

The Zweilous blasted out an echoing cry, and from its mouth a beam of white and gray shockwaves emitted. Finick stopped from crawling as it took in the damage caused by the roar, while Austin clapped his hands on his ears as tightly as he could to avoid loss of hearing, there were close. It apparently bought the thief some time. Austin - despite of the attack - smirked, it was combo time. "Flash Dragon!" coming up with a combined name was his specialty, while his Pokemon were the expert on the combination itself.

Finick's body became outlined with grey and blue, which happens every time it performs a combo. Aim 50%, aim 100%, "Fire!" Aiming its large claw on the man and the Zweilous, the two beams swirled on eachother. Creating a swirl of metal grey and blue mixed with red. "I can always count on you for a strong combo, Finick"

I opened my room, and find that the room is amazing. Well, as amazing as every Pokemon Center room in every Pokemon Center around the world. But just seeing the room makes me feel like I'm at home for some reason.

I put my things such as clothes and the little things I don't really need at the side of the bed, and took a shower. After 5 minutes, I brushed my bluish hair to its long flowing state, the style I always loved, got dressed with my iconic white and black dress, which is ironically the only clothing that I have 5 pairs of, and wore my white sunhat with a black ribbon on it, which my mom bought for me before I left Floaroma Town to pursue my journey. I now wonder what are they currently doing right at this very moment. I took my purse which is filled of my PokeDex, Trainer Card, PokeNav, Ribbon Case, and some of my healing items, and my belt which has my three signature Pokemon that I plan to use in the contest. I have more Pokemon, but left them in the care of my aunt and uncle in Mauville City, before I came here in Slateport. I buckled my belt on, slung my purse on my shoulder, and went outside the room.

I left the Pokemon Center and headed to the red building with a blue roof, which was the Contest Hall. I was in awe on how big the hall was. It wasn't as big as Lilycove City's, but it was close, nonetheless. I headed to the reception desk, to scope out the competition.

"Excuse me mam! Are you here to join the Festival?" asked the receptionist infront of me.

"Oh, I've already registered in the Pokemon Center!" I said bubbly.

"May I see the your Trainer Card though?" she said.

"Oh of course!" I handed my card to the receptionist.

She verified the card again and gave it back to me, along with the rule book for the Festival.

"Thanks! Here is your trainer card, and a copy of the rulebook for the Festival! I'm sorry that it wasn't given in the Pokemon Center, since they weren't given copies of it. Good thing you came here though, you wouldn't received this!" she said sternly.

"Haha, well thanks again!" I said with a cute smile, that resembles somewhat like :3

I took a look inside the arena itself, which was still preparing for the festival, and went outside the hall after.

I unclipped my partner's Pokeball out of my belt. It was time to let her out.

"Let's go Bellossom!" I threw the Pokeball upwards, and it released a really cute Bellossom.

"Bella bell!" she said gleefully.

"You're welcome Bellossom! Let's go to the beach!" I said happily.

We went to the beach, which was brimming with people, having fun, battles, and such.

We settled ourselves near the lighthouse, with the SS Tidal, the famous Hoenn cruise line, nearing the port.

"Ah, this is awesome, Don't you think Bellossom?" I asked.

"Bella, Bellossom!" she said while jumping for joy.​

Should I face them? Or should I run? I really want to get ready and take a break before the festival, Cabbage thought. Before she could make up her mind, a lady pulled her up. Cabbage looked at her shocked and wide eyed.

"Look you trainer," the mother said with a hint of a snarl. "You trainers think you can do whatever you want her in Slateport City. Well no with me around. No buster! And scaring my daughter is pure cold."

Castform tried helping her trainer with a Fire Blast, but the mother summoned a Staraptor. Then the mother looked towards the Castform.

"Don't. You. Dare. Move."

Castform was stuck where she was. The mother smiled at Cabbage.

"Not so though now, right?" She smirked at Cabbage. "I'll teach you what's to be though..."

Cabbage didn't pay attention past there because she was busy trying to take out a pokeball from her waist. Please be Flygon, Cabbage thought. I need something to scare that lady up or she'll probably kill me here. All of a sudden, the mother stopped talking and saw Cabbage's hand on a pokeball.

"Oh no you're not!"

Then she slapped her hand, but it caused for a pokeball to fall out. It opened up and Cabbage smiled as she saw Torterra come out. The lady flinched but didn't looked scared. She had her Staraptor after all. But it was all Cabbage needed, because she fought the lady until she was free of her grasp. Behind her Cabbage saw the girl from before.

"MOMMY! There's a scary looking pokemon! Mom!"

Not this again. The lady looked madder as she saw her daughter wail again.

"You're just all talk. I bet you couldn't even win a battle."

Now it was Cabbage's turn to smirk. Emerald might be able to beat me with his friendship talk and all, but I have power and brutal force by my side.

"If you're not too much of a coward madame, I would like to take this outside."

The mother hugged and patted her daughter.

"It's okay sweetie. Stop trying. Mommy will teach that horrid girl a lesson. Want to see?"

Sniffing her tears, the little girl followed the two outside on the beach.

"3-3 battle, if you're not too scared."

"Says the women who harassed me," Cabbage said in a sing song way.

The comment obviously pissed off the mother, and Cabbage's Torterra and Castform were ready for battle. The Staraptor in the other hand was giving off his best intimidation pose. Cabbage smiled.

"Torterra, you don't mind being the first?"

Torterra walked up to Cabbage and gave a battle cry. Then he stood a few feet in front of Cabbage.

"You actually think you can win with that thing with Staraptor around?" The mother smirked and smiled as Staraptor flew towards Torterra. "Oh yeah, and if I win my little girl gets to keep your Castform."

Castform again looked horrified, but both Cabbage and Torterra gave her a reassuring look. The mother lifted up a hand and yelled:

"Staraptor, Brave Bird!"

Staraptor flew as hard and as fast as he could. Cabbage was ready though.

"Torterra, shield yourself with Stone Edge!"

Torterra unleashed his attack and Staraptor took some heavy damage when he collided with the rocks. Staraptor looked angry and mad at Torterra.

"Staraptor, use Fly!"

Staraptor nodded and he flew so high that Cabbage knew that Stone Edge won't hit him. But that doesn't mean she's gonna waste this turn.

"Torterra! Use Razor Leaf around you!"

Torterra used Razor Leaf and manage to make all the leaves go around himself. The mother smiled and smirked.

"What good will that do little girl? Stopping me with rocks is one thing, but leaves? Ha ha!" She laughed in an ugly and hysterical way. "Staraptor! Strike down at Torterra!"

Cabbage smiled as Staraptor came to Torterra. True that she can't stop this attack, but she can do something about it. As Staraptor was gaining on Torterra, Cabbage screamed her command.

"Use Iron Tail on the leaves now!"

As Staraptor hit Torterra, Torterra slapped the leaves towards his way. Even though the poor Torterra took massive damage, he went on slapping the leaves. Staraptor at first was fine but after a few more hits, he looked exhausted.

"Staraptor, finish him off with Close Combat!"

As Torterra finished slapping the leaves, Staraptor came towards his way.

"Torterra! Get him now with Stone Edge!"

At the same time Staraptor started punching Torterra, he hurled the rocks towards the birds face. He took quite a hit from the move, but Torterra went on flinging the rocks. Finally Staraptor dropped hard to the ground and when the lady told him to get up, he lied in the sand. She then growled.

"Coordinator tricks in your sleeve, eh? Well that ain't gonna work in Slateport."

"And Lilycove can't do the same?"

She look furious as she returned Staraptor and had a new ball in her hand. Hopefully it is something Torterra can beat easily, because one more hit and he's a goner. Maybe if I switch him out... No. That's not my style. I have to make the most of it, Cabbage thought.
