Since I got inspired by Spoonette's thread on Cubone and Diglett, today I feel like talking about everybody's "favorite" support set:
Pachirisu
Move Name: Follow Me
Move Type: Disrupt
Status Affliction: none
Charge Time: slow
Damage: 0
Effect: Can eradicate some long-distance attacks. Effective when you want to get in close.
Magikarp
Move Name: Bounce
Move Type" Disrupt
Status Affliction: none
Charge Time: slow
Damage: 19
Effect: Performs a drop attack when hit by an opponent. Effective for interrupting combos.
Personally, I don't like this set enough to regularly use it: both effects feel more situational than the other sets. With slow charge times, you're looking to play a slow, defensive game. At best, I see them as a counterpick set: Magikarp activates on the first hit your opponent deals, potentially disrupting a combo; and Pachirisu helps slow Pokemon who lack approaching options deal with zoners who love to oversaturate the field with projectiles. In my experience, Machamp especially likes Pachirisu, nullifying a Gardevoir's flurry of Calm Mind attacks and Chandelure's fireballs for just long enough to get in close.
But really, I think Magikarp is the more useful of the two generally speaking; not all fighters rely heavily enough on projectiles for Pachirisu to absorb, making it a dead pick almost half of the time, at least in my eyes. But Pachirisu can actually absorb a Latios' Luster Purge, which I find interesting. Maybe it can absorb other supports' projectiles- I'll have to test it out sometime.
