here is the thread for Q&A. if u wanna ask for movesets for a single pokemon, or check if a move can be learnt by a poke, please check smogon first. if it isnt listed at smogon, feel free to ask it here. do not post ur teams for rate-and-review here, ask questions only.

    tell me that reason,please.

yeah so df locked it, and told me to report Dragon_Reborn. but i dont want to, thats too harsh, so i decided a thread about it would be better, to prevent others from doing it in the future

There's nothing wrong with reporting people's post, it lets us help that person so they don't wind up banned in the future.

Anyways, two things in this thread. Firstly, advertising Smogon is a big no-no, not just because they have a fetish of spamming up this place, but because advertising outside of Webmasters Discussion is... well, not permitted.

Secondly, coolmaster, those kind of comments should be kept to PM, because you're getting off-topic there.

im not advertising smogon, just admitting that it IS a good source of info. i dont visit their forums, just solely their Dex-es.

    *bump*

fattypen stop posting multiple topics for separate one-line questions, ask them here. also to others: for single pokemon movesets, ask them here

smogonforums aren't that good, but their dex is superior to any other site. BTW, smogon people like to spam serebii too, but that's because we are arrogant, competitive battlers who think were better than everybody.

To contribute to the thread, so fatpen won't ask about something,

    - Sub
    - Focus Punch
    - Thunderbolt
    - Crunch

is tyraniboah, but it needs 31 HP IV. See, I can read minds because I am really old.

what do u guys think of 0 hp IV sub punch seed breloom

3 IV's lets you set up 4 subs and leave you at 1 hp

a brief intro and some questions

i'm a beginner at the advanced generation games, i just started emerald the other day and have about 18 hours on it. i don't have any other GBA games. i'm fighting flannery. but that's beside the point.

i read the brief summary in the sticky in the stats forum about raising pokemon to their maximum stats with EV. very interesting. i figure i have to beat the game first to accomplish that though, so i'm not worried about making my team up just yet - i'm just trying to get through it first. i am making sure not to use any of the TMs in the game or any of the free moves that people offer to teach me. i don't know what i'll need later on (but hopefully someone here could help me with that when i get to it!)

MY QUESTIONS ARE what is IV training?

where can i find a detailed description of IV training and EV training?

and how does breeding work in emerald? as in, what will be produced if i put in a male and female of the same species? different species? same gender? with a ditto?

    thanks.

Someone will come along with knowledge of IV and EV training I am not sure. Breeding in Emerald is something you could ask the Breeding board. It is not complicated it just takes time. If you would like me to give you the complete explanation of breeding I will be able to, just PM me. I hope to be able to help you anyway I can, just PM me to let me know!

IVs... not training here... IVs are a random number given to each of your pokemon's stats right when you catch them, the number ranges between 0 and 31 and it determines extra "bonus" stat points in whatever stat they're in... so lets say a kyogre has 31 IVs in special attack, and upper nature and 252 EVs, its special attack stat will be 438 at level 100.... if it has 0 ivs, and those other two requirements, it's special attack stat will be 407! So the 31 stat points do make a difference :)

evs.... god i hate explaining these... to serebii.net, and read their EVs guide...(sorry if this advertising was against the rules, i only saw "NO FORUMS" in da rules... just edit and remove the site from my post... or if another member would tell me, ill do it myslef :))

how do you tell how many IV's you have?

and can someone explain what a pokemon's nature is? what do the different natures do?
