4Kids no longer dubbing Pokemon?

Well that's a relief. Some people thought that it also meant change in VAs. But glad it's cleared up.

But I could say that I'm glad that 4Kids isn't dubbing Pokemon. It's not about the titles they make, its the edits they put in the series to make it more "American" when it's only making the anime clueless. xP

Well, if 4kids is still dubbing it, then that means that the voice actors won't be changing.... actually I'd prefer because I like the voices for the dub, mainly Veronica Taylor's voices.

People keep confusing me because they don't seem to have all their facts striaght, so let me put everyone on the same page by using a quote that seems to distinctly sum this all up.

Liscensing has almost everything to do with the anime. It says who gets the rights to dub it, but it won't be 4Kids. One of the show's voice actors has already confirmed that all the current cast will still continue dubbing, just with a different studio. Production wise, the anime is only with 4Kids until the end of this season. After that, 4Kids won't have anything to do with Pokemon.

Dubbing wise, 4Kids has an almost flawless script. They hardly 'dumb down' Pokemon as it was always like that. They do change some jokes, but often those are jokes meant for the Japanese and not one a native English speaker would understand, and of course there are some episodes that can't be shown due to content differences in Japanese and American children. Since the new script will be written by Nintendo, it'll be about the same, but chances are it will have a lot more jokes thrown into it since Nintendo does have a habbit of doing that.

This is a Christmas miracle. =P

Maybe now we will actually get a more decent and better dub...and Onigiri that's actually onigiri. :P

XD When I got older and stopped watching pokemon and Mew_Akee explained to me what onigiri was I laughed at the idiots who made it doughnuts on Pokemon. I really thought they were doughnuts when I was little and I wondered wy they had no holes... ;_; XD

At least 4kids won't be dubbing it anymore :/
alas if the same thing could have been done or will be done to the rockman.exe series ._.

opefully now the edits they make won't only be stupid non needed jokes ;.;

I'm sure the new dubbing company will stay as close to the 4Kids version as humanly possible, and I also know that they'll probably keep the same voice actors, 4Kids and Funimation have alot of the same voice actors as well.

As for Rockman.EXE...yeah...that dub...I wouldn't call it BAD, it was just waaaay different then the Japanese. But just because something is different doesn't mean its horrible... x__x except for the god awful names changes... poor Blues...
Actually I'm awaiting the Stream dub. I'm watching Stream in Japanese right now.

4Kids has nothing to do with storywritting what so ever. It is the Japanese writers who decide who Ash beats and lose to. So Team Rocket defeating Ash have nothing to do with 4Kids. They just dub. I just want to say that to stop confusion like Kingdra just said.

At least the dub will be fine. But I'm nervous with Nintendo's direct involvement in the dub now, particularly given their mismanagement of TCG. You'll excuse me if I be nervous.

4Kids hasn't promoted it as well, no, so I'm not opposed to the switch in the outright sense, just...given Nintendo's past track record, well, you can see it for yourself.

And for those who thought the dub would change and be happy for a new team dubbing things, well, shame on you.

Would we expect the original score (music) in the series (instead of replacing them with crap) and movies in widescreen on DVD in the future? That's all I care. Current VA fine so I'm glad to see they're still using them.

No, I carefully read this same article at Bulbagarden.

And guess what?

I think the only thing that Pokemon USA is getting is the liscensing of Pokemon.

They're not getting the production.

And I think that's a really good thing, because I wouldn't want them to get the production too, cause the 4Kids VAs do a great job doing their characters' voices and stuff. ^_^
From recent discussions about this topic, we've learned that Pokemon USA will have full control over all licensed use of the Pokemon property. This will include overseeing the translations, games, anime etc.

Now about the anime; It will stay with 4Kids thru the eighth season (and the VA's aren't on contract at 4Kids, so they can be hired by PokeUSA) and then PokeUSA will take over running the dubation.. That DOESN'T mean that they will do it all themselves (in fact 4Kids may be 'contracted' to do it) but that they'll find a production co to do the acual work (at least I think so)

Since this is fairly new news, a lot of info is up in the air (and getting facts is quite hard due to the non-disclosure of the 4Kids contracts) so we'll just have to wait for official news briefs and see where this lead the Pokemon world.

Still, I can't beleive this! xD Its a miracle. People won't hide that they like pokemon because of all the wierdess in the dubbing 4Kids made. xD

I was under the impression that most of the music used in the current season was the original score.

End of the seventh season, they were. But this current season, we've been getting First Dub Movie score but lately the second Dub and third Dub movies, which is good as we haven't heard them as much.

But the recent episodes, have been killing the second Dub movie score, just like they killed the first Dub movie one in the fifth season.

No its not fair only the merchandising is being changed.... This is really dissapointing I guess there is no christmas miracle If its only the merchandising then nothing not even the VA will change a bit

._.

oh well I guess there is nothing to do but continue dreaming... ><

I'd say that would disprove EVERYTHING.

I'll leave this thread up for the rest of the day for lamenting but yeah, I don't want this to be a dub bash/whining fest.
