    I just finished watching the 79th Academy Awards & I decided to make a thread for it since the Oscars are the most popular film awards.

    I`m so mad that Babel didn`t win. I didn`t really like The Queen! Alsooo, Will Smith should have one an Academy Award for The Persuit of Happyness. Atleast Happy Feet won an award!

    Babel was good, but The Departed was my favorite film for the year. Also, Martin Scorsese finally got Best Director after getting nominated for Gangs of New York, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, etc and never winning any. I think Witthaker deserved Best Actor because it's the same thing as Scorsese's situation. He's been nominated for several roles, but never won anything. Will Smith is still young and he can win some other time, if he does make another great movie.

    Although I am impressed that Pan Labyrinth won some awards, albeit disappointed that it didn't get Best Foreign Film. I wasn't surprised that Jennifer Hudson won, and I think that she did a better role than Beyonce in Dream Girls. As for the The Departed, and everyone involved in it: Scorsese, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and everyone else: they deserved it all.

    This year was a great year in film, and I think the nominees for Best Picture (The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, Babel, The Queen, Letters from Iwo Jima) are all excellent movies.

    Martin Scorsese should have received the Oscar for Taxi Driver very long ago. I'm glad The Departed won. It was such a great film and very modern and different from most crime films.

    Jack Nicholson didn't get a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Departed. =[

    Pans is a wonderful piece of art.

    Niko, erm , this was Forest Witthaker first nomination.

    I was happy for Scorsese, he finally got what he deserved. XD

    Pan's Labyrinth was forgotten during both of the categories it deserved the most: best original screenplay and best foreign film. I could see Guillermo del Toro about to cry when he recieved the rest though. XD Good for him.

    Babel only got one Oscar, so it's 4 for Mexico. I'm disappointed Children of Men didn't win anything. Adriana Barraza also lost best actress... ;_;

    I think The Departed is a magnificent movie...

    I loved letters from iwo jima But i almost vomitted im the part where the japanese soilders were killing them self with live handgrenades.
