Every year till I was 14 I used to get horribly sick and end up going to the doctors and having to get some sort of prescription medicine. For some reason after I had some flu like illness at 14 years old I haven't gotten overly sick since. At the worst I've had a stuffy nose and nothing more then that. I remember last year when there was the big swine flu outbreak tons of kids at my school were out because of it and I was perfectly fine.
The worst part about being sick and this depends on how sick you really are is the lack of sleep or uncomfortable sleep. When I'm really sick it's hard to fall asleep because my nose is so stuffy I can barely breathe or my throat will ache so badly it keeps me up. Probably one of the worst side effects of being really sick is that cold to hot feeling. One minute you're so cold you need to be covered in blankets and the next minute you're sweating up a storm and have to throw them all off.
Even with that said I still see the positives of being sick. I can't say I haven't used being sick to my advantage for getting out of things. Stuff like school, work around the house, avoiding going out with someone.
