A analysis on Hyper Beam Moves, OHKO Moves, and Double Team/Minimize

    Usually you'd like to say that OHKO Moves, Hyper Beam (and respectively related moves that are elemental), and Double Team/Minimize are good. But their not. Firstly, i'd like to discuss them in order. OHKO Moves I'm guessing can become the first topic.

    OHKO Moves usually have the lowest accuracy. Meaning that their is a small chance of hitting the opponent. You'd actually think that their good because it's a OHKO, but you miss. Meaning the pokemon your up against (the pokemon your using is using the OHKO move, meaning the opposing pokemon is what your up against) has tons of free moves. The opposing pokemon has now a wonder of opportunities. Weather they use swords dance, curse, and etc. Meaning that OHKO moves aren't usully the way to go, though very few work.

    Hyper Beam moves (Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon) may look extremely powerful, but they have a cost. The recharging turn gives the opponent pokemon the ability to also power up. So, i'm guessing you get th concept from reading the last paragraph.

    Double Team and Minimize move as well don't exactly 'suck'. Their known as hax moves. Their banned from metagame, and if you use it, then you suck. Simple.

    Well that's it.
     
    That's pretty much right. DT needs to be powered down in some way by nintendo, or a one copy limit or something.

    You should add that double team can make you unfairly untouchable.
     
    It is! That's why Aerial Ace ant other moves like it were invented. Still, it is cheap.
     
    I don't want to be forced to use Aerial Ace/Foresight/etc. I'm already forced to use Aromatherapy.
     
    Thank you for the Guides, they will eventually (not that they already Aern't) be helpful. did you mention the Hax Items yet?
     
    I agree about the foresight/AA bit. Are sand attack and mud slap banned?
     
    I beleive the hax items will get a later guide...?

    Thanks for all of these guides, by the way. I'll admit, I've learned a thing or two about the metagame. Maybe I'll be able to actually rate teams the right way now...
     
    Hyper Beam on Porygon-Z with adaptability is good. 337 base power isn't exactly something to laugh at. That's about it though.
     
    OHKO moves are banned from metagame too.

    Stop trying to make us like every other battling site, seriously.

    What are you talking about?

    And Mud Slap/Sand Attack are not banned, just useless, since you can end the effect by switching.

    It seems some people can't tolerate opinions & battling outside their own. Is this site really so close-minded?
     
    How about an umbreon w/ mean look and sand attack? Is that allowed?
     
    Hmmm, good point. But since Sand Attack is so much less reliable than most other moves, people wouldn't bother using it.
