Suggestion: A better tag

I think we have a user tag that just links it to their profile. I suggest of expanding that tag...

So, since name changes are back, those who own clubs, roleplays, challenges, etc. have a hard time editing their member list...

So if there would be a new tag, it would look like...

user#

and it would show the username along with the link, and the name style[mod, supporter, admin, smod]

For example, if I type, 378144, it would look like [supporter]Queen of Shipping[/supporter] and if I changed my name, the name changes to correspond the new name or something... Less work for those who manage clubs, challenges, roleplays, etc....

I know it isn't good but you get the idea right? So, what about it?

I get where you're coming from, but at the end of the day it's probably simpler to for people to inform the owner/leader - if you're not active enough to remember then it probably doesn't really matter. The amount of names changing across the entire forum is relatively small.

It would also mean that it'll take a lot more time to manage userlists in those areas - in the RPC most don't bother linking to user profiles, so it's much easier to type the name... let alone and go to their profile to grab the profile number.

Can't really speak for the other areas, just my two cents. ^^

This would help in bringing uniformity to username mentions throughout PC. I like this, and I could definitely see this being coded with some PHP. :)

That sounds excessively complicated. Imo just wait for the name change craze to die down and use regular usernames rather than user IDs.

...also I had no idea that we have user tags now @_@

We're totally waiting for @"Hiroshi Sotomura" to automatically turn into a link to my name, and send me a notification whenever it happens.

Not that I know why we'd have a dedicated user tag to begin with though; doesn't seem to be much point just up and linking to another person's profile. Sounds like a niche thing.

Damnit, I was halfway finished with the skeleton method for the tag when you post this. D:
