A case of shady rulings...

So...with Prime Material Dragon now officially being the 'in' thing of the moment, a question about its anti-burn effect just occurred to me:

Seeing as how they are essentially polar opposites as effects go, how does Prime Material interact with Bad Reaction to Simochi? Say if I had both the dragon and Simochi on the field then played a burn card, which Prime Material would then try to convert to LP gain, would Simochi convert it back to burn? And how about an LP gain effect played under the same circumstances? Does it come out as burn or LP gain in the end? o.O With both effects trying to alter each other, the only end result I can seem to reach is an infinite loop. >.< I can't seem to make heads or tails out of this situation and it's driving me crazy. There's no official ruling to fall back on either, at least not one that I can find.

    Thoughts?

I think it would just make a simple 3-link chain, with both canceling each other out (I.E., Prime Material Dragon activates to a burn effect, but Simochi activates to that, turning it back into burn).

i have check it out and the truth is the prime material effect would turn into burn and then back to health really it just cancels it out.

Well, that was kind of my first reaction too, but then...I'm not sure if Prime Material and Simochi use the chain or not since they're worded like permanent effect cards (in lieu with Jinzo, Spell Canceler and pals). Hence my confusion on the subject.

Right...and your source for this 'truth' would be..? Sorry, but you're not really enough of an authority for me to just take your word for it without any source or reasoning behind it, especially since I have this nagging suspicion that you mostly just echoed Icha for reasons I can only imagine. -.-

Well, effects that normally don't go on a chain (like Sangan) do so if activated simultaneously, so I would imagine the same thing happens here. I'm pretty sure there was a ruling on this sort of thing elsewhere...but I guess we'll need to wait until WC09 to test & tell for certain. For all I know, it might just be a Jinzo-SD situation.

    Polly want a cracker? ;)

Well, I think it might be a case of infinite loops, which used to only be a problem with Pole Position, a not-often played card. But that's just me.

Maybe it's similar to the Jinzo/Skill Drain ruling (i.e., whichever was first played has its effect applied?)

i change my statement if prime is played then you activate bad reaction, you would gain life for prime was the 1st thing on the chain, but if you summon prime while bad reaction is on the field bad reaction would activate last, so be careful which way you play and chain the cards.
