6th Gen A couple of questions on X and Y

    Hey guys!

    1.I've heard that the Poke' Bank is the only way to transfer Pokemon from Black and White 2, is this true? I have one 3ds and one ds to use the union room but is that still possible to use?

    2.Is anyone aware of how many Pokemon are catch-able in-game (more than previous game or the same?
    Or how many Pokemon are on the Kalos Pokedex?

    Thanks in advance I've been wanting to check on Serebii but I don't want to spoiler the game since it comes out tomorrow.

    Pokebank is the only way to transfer to the 3DS games. We've never been able to "trade" between two generations and the 3DS games will not read any signal sent from a DS game so no the Union Room will not work. Only interaction you have for Cross Generation Transfers, is just the transfer option itself.

    So December is when you can use the transfer system.

    Catchable. Over 300. The Kalos Pokedex is separated into 3 sections of 150+ Pokemon each. Not all Pokemon in said Pokedex are catchable, though you can evolve into the ones you miss that come from lower forms, or Breed for the lower forms for the ones you catch Evolved. Then there are also Version Exclusives which again lower the amount you can catch in a single game.

    The rest of the Pokemon you'll have to wait to transfer.
     
    So to get my Pokemon from Black and White 2 I have to pay for Pokemon Bank?
     
    I am actually also curious of the topic of transferring. Do we know if we will be able to transfer between two separate 3ds? I understand the logic behind not being able to transfer between, say, a Dsi and a 3ds, but two 3ds should be able to communicate with each other, even if one houses a fifth gen game, true?

    Yes, it makes sens. But unfortunately, I think you will have to use the Poke Bank. Since Nintendo is doing a lot of publicity for the Poke Bank, I think they really want people to use it.

    Probably true. Unfortunate though, as I have no means of connecting to Poke Bank..

    From Pokemon X and Y's website (FAQ)

    What are the details of the trial period for Pokémon Bank?
    If you download and open Pokémon Bank by January 31, 2014, you will be able to obtain a pass that will allow you to use the software for no charge for 30 days.

    Before February 1, 2014, you will need to:
    1. Download Pokémon Bank from the Nintendo eShop.
    2. Open Pokémon Bank.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to obtain your pass.

    This pass unlocks a 30-day trial period. During this time, you will be able to use all of the features in both Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter without charge.

    If you download Pokémon Bank but do not open the software and obtain your pass by the end of January 31, 2014 (Friday), you will not be able to obtain the pass. Please be sure to take advantage of this opportunity while it lasts.
     
    I think that's sufficiently answered. (The exact number of what is catachable/obtainable in X&Y without trading may take a while to actually be found out, unless it's given in a game guide). So hence I'll close, no need for repeated answers.
