"A Hot Water Battle" Episode Discussion

Oh, oh, I think I have more memories of this one than the Pidgey one! They're playing with a beach ball and it gets lost in a river and a Snorlax finds it? And I think sand goes in someone's eyes...

And Wobbuffet does "Bide," even though, it can't. Haha.

This episode is akin to a movie short with the formatting/plotting, so that's what it stuck in my mind most. Otherwise, it's "eh." Different, though, I'll say that.

One item I didn't acknowledge is that despite Meowth and Totodile worked together to escape the cave, Meowth turned on the gator. Didn't he say, "even though, I'm a Pokemon, I'm still a Team Rocket member"? I'm going by memory, here, so forgive me if I'm off.

An interesting peering into Meowth's character, at the time, wouldn't you say?

He feels more included in Team Rocket with his human friends, than Pokemon with, well, just other Pokemon. Hmm

Well, I would agree his human personality is showing there, but you got to admit, he has unique motivation. Essentially, he's turning his fellow creatures in to be abused by the Rockets. This is one of the few times I've actually thought about it (the other being the later Mewtwo Returns). It's also interesting that his backstabbing traits also shined, as Totodile helped him out, and he turned on it, anyway.

Quite human, wouldn't you say?

Hmm but can Pokemon just be naturally bad? I don't think Meowth is, but he still does bad stuff, so it could be either hanging around TR for so long or just his bad start in life...even then, you don't need that to do bad stuff. Haha...I love psychology and sociology, which sadly has no answers, which I knew before taking the courses, anyway...

Are cats and crocodiles really fellow creatures? Haha, they may both be Pokemon, but they're very different still

There is a bit in another episode where Ekans says (with subs) 'Pokemon not bad. master bad' or something along those lines. Two problems with this - one, all the other pokemon had normal subs, not completely idiotic ones ('master bad'? honestly). Two, it completely contradicts with this episode, where meowth shows himself to be one bad cat, despite having no master

I think the Island of Giant Pokemon did a better job explaining on whether a Pokemon is "born bad." So, I'd hold off on that thought until I post the episode discussion first (that will be in two days).

Well, we are talking a show where a kid has an electric rat, firing electricity at his opponents. One of whom is a cat with a coin on its head. So, yeah, I don't quite go for the "apples and oranges" argument, there. Heh.
