    <ahem>
    A long long time ago,
    In a countarree
    far away.
    Nintendo made a...new game.

    Soon it spread to,
    everywhere.
    It was the chatter,
    in the air.

And it became a, really big,
    global love.

And when I saw the TV show,
I had that rush, that thing you know:
    I really needed that game,
I'm sure that you were, the same!
And now we've wound up in 2005
    That's when, we looked...back

    When we were signin'
"My, my this here video game,
    Play it once,
    Play it twice,
    Now go play it again.
    We left this world,
    entered something anew
Sayin 'Soon I'm gonna be a Master'
    'Soon I'm gonna be a..Master.'
    An we were singin:
"My, my this here video game,
    Play it once,
    Play it twice,
    Now go play it again.
    We left this world,
    entered something anew
Sayin 'Soon I'm gonna be a Master'
'Soon I'm gonna be a Master!'

So, how'd you like my Pokemon Parody? It (for me) describes how I brought myself to the Pokemon World.

Anyway, in this topic, go back in time...9 years ago...you were 8-10, you picked up Red or Blue and brought yourself to the Poke'universe for the first time.
Remember how it was new, and we were on our own? We had no clue really what was going on at the very beginning, until Gold and Silver came out and it was all familier. Post how the game craze affected you, and reflect on the dumb things you thought were true (I thought that, for sure, Golem could crush a water pokemon, because duh! Golem was a rock and rocks don't disolve in water!)

So, yeah. Describe the feeling, the ideas, and laugh upon your mistakes of the very first Pokemon game.
    Have fun!

Shouldnt this be in the poem section?

    thank you...

i joined this forum simply so i could post once i read your 'song'
been reading through a lot of it and i realized that a few people out there really were just 10 when the first ones came out... and they really were captivated by it.. and taken in by the whole world of pokemon.. that feeling you talk about seeing the show... but it wasnt about the show it was about the game. and the game was the shiz. and suddenly 8 years go by and u pick this crap up out of the basement and it just takes you into all kinds of nostalgia.. i cant stop surfing looking through every rumor and glitch and thread about pokemon. as much as i should have outgrown it. but its a timeless thing, to some people. and goddamit im one of em/ the first gen pokemon masters live on!

I was about 11 or 12 when I first played Pokemon. The first one I played was the yellow version. I was awestruck. This was an amazing monster breeding/strategic battle game. This game set something off in me and I became obsessed with monster breeding games. Since then Iv'e acquired the red, gold, crystal, ruby, sapphire, and fire red versions. Iv'e also gotten the Monster Ranchers, Jade Cocoons, Digimons, and more obscure games in the genre such as Azure Dreams and Dragon Seeds, but none give me that same feeling. I recently enjoyed the nostalgia of the fire red version. It's not too unusual for an 18 year old to be obsessed with this series, is it?

I was the tender age of nine... I had watched the anim? for a few months beforehand (my first episode being "Hypno's Naptime") and I had been following the games in a Nintendo magazine. I got a Game Boy Color specifically so I could play the games, Red and Blue, and I remember exactly where I was when I caught my first Pok?mon... a Weedle in Viridian Forest while I was waiting to pick up my sister from school... From the word go I was a Pok?maniac, and intend to be forever. It changed my life (I started trying to train a butterfly to attack a cat, and threw tennis balls at the local dogs hoping one would hop inside *not really*) I actually feel sorry for those Pok?mon fans who have joined the ranks now, because while they have the benefits of R/S and FR/LG, like graphics etc. they will never experience the feelings we did with the originals... the best ones... I will never stop loving it. Ever.

I was about 5... I remembered the days of gameboy. Playing it on the bus... trying to put it in my pocket... fun. Now we walk around with Gameboy Advance SPs that can hang from ur neck...

heh, i first read about it in some magazine when it wasn't even out in japan, i kept up with it until it was released in USA - got it imported here and have been playing them ever sinse.

    Best games ever :)

Uh I started to PLAY pokemon in 2002, but I've known and loved it ever since... *counts* 1996. I felt the experience (playing pokemon) of being dragged into a mall where kids used to play their gameboy color. Now they either hate it, or they're playing with a Gameboy Advance SP ^_^

Ahh....How fondly I remember those days...I was eight at the time. I had just started grade four. I'd been playing videogames for about two years at that point, I beleive. The first I ever heard of Pokemon was the Red/Blue commercial (you may remember it: all the pokemon were on a bus, which got squished down to pocket-size). A few people talked about it at school, but it wasn't that big yet. One sunday morning, I saw that this "Pokemon" thing was on, and thus I watched my first-ever episode of pokemon on YTV (The episode was "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad!"). I got into the rhythm of watching it every week. Soon, it became more and more popular, until my friend was getting paid to draw pictures of Pikachu, and you were considered cool if you had a Pidgeotto or Raichu card. I had a ritual for every day after school: Watch Pokemon at 3:30 on UPN, then at 4:00 on YTV. ^.^
I wanted a gameboy now more than anything else; alas I never got to own a pokemon game until I was ten....But in the meantime I was fine borrowing my best friend's yellow version. Pokemon began to fizzle out by the time I was in grade five, and by grade six me and my best friend had to pretend we hated Pokemon so that people wouldn't kick dirt in our faces...:(..... I am now in grade ten; I own the Blue, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, and FireRed versions and I occasionally watch the anime, too. :) I even have a few more friends that like Pokemon other than the one (and my other friends don't kick me 'cause I like it). I likely will never get over Pokemon; I love it just as much as I did back in 1998. :) I don't care what other people say about Pokemon anymore. It's just AWESOME.
