A More Mature Pokemon Series?

I think it would be great with an anime too!

XD I don't remember a time when TR was actually evil. And I've seen a lot of those early episodes, including the very first ones. I own some, too. ^__^ The Ghost of Maiden's Peak was an early episode (in fact, I think it was around #15) and I didn't recall evilness. I do agree that the early episodes of Pok?mon were very very good. The Battle Aboard the St. Anne and the second part of that were two of the most well-done episodes in the whole series. I wonder if those are on DVD yet. . . .

On the actual subject, I wouldn't mind Pok?mon being a bit more mature, but I'd say one shouldn't overdo it. I'm not sure what the mangas are like, but from what I've heard around, that's probably about as mature as I'd want the anime to get. Pok?mon has been a kid's "cute" anime and I don't want the formula to change too much. ^__~

i think team rocket should stop being villains and star in adult films, instead of trying to steal pokemon they should try to get the heroes in bed with them. that would be my dream pokemon show, but i love the shows the way they are i think they should make a more mature pokemon game.

Eh? Eh. I agree with Jhotos_Power on the issue of unrealistic battle sequences. Honestly, I've seen scenes where people were cut with Scyther's scythes, and didn't seem to even be hurt. Violence and sexuality is, if I'm not mistaken, a sort of? usual thing in anime, after all.

Needs more violence. No more of this "fwoosh" sound when trhey attack eachother. i want to see a bit of blood when a charmelion "Slashes" something!!

I wouldnt mind a more mature version of the series. Pokemon is Pokemon. Ill like it no matter what.
That Raikou Special was a step in the right direction. :classic:

Maybe one season Team Rocket and capture Pikachu and Ash has to chase them around for dozons of episodes, meeting new friends who help and hinder him on his quest to get Pikachu back, to stop Giovanni from unlocking a special virus inside Pikachu and using that virus to control all the Pokemon in the entire world. Meanwhile, Team Magma and Aqua have stolen the orbs off Mt. Pyre and have awakened Groudon and Kyogre, who are wrecking havoc over the planet.

Who wishes for a more mature Pokemon series, maybe with REAL villians, more romantic themes, a bit more action, well a bit more anime-ish :P so what kind of things would you want for a more mature Pokemon series?

Wow its like you stole the Idea right from my other post in Pokemon General Scott (i have to give you credit on this one though lol)

hehe Yess.... Protest

Honestly, this anime will never be mature. Why? Because this is a cartoon for 10 years old kids. For kids mature romances etc. are not interesting. For them cool is fight between pokemon. Romances, shippings, ble ble ble - its boooring. They are happy when they see a new pokemon or a battle between Ash and another trainer. Also, Jessie and James will never win because they are bad and in cartoon for kids bad guys usually lose and good guys usually win. Also, J&J&M are for fun. And maybe little kids have a fun, when they see them.

Excess swearing isn't nessesary, but a little more realism (in terms of how actual people would react in certain situations) would be nice. For example: some snobby kid stops you and demands a Pokemon battle. You say no, but they keep bothering you. So whats the solution? Take a knfie or some other type of lethal weapon at him instead of a Pokemon. There should be more of people relying on themselves rather than their companions.

So more interesting characters would be nice as well. (Instead of the typical handsome hero who wins every time.) Even with the current characters some serious development is needed. Just my opinion.

Violence isn't necessarily needed either. Instead, ahve teh characters suffer from true emotional and mental issues. Such as a death in the family, or a personal loss or indignification. Plus tone down their happiness and make them seem more human. Give them some personality flaws. that is the way to make it more mature, not through violence and swearing. :\

Agreed. These are things that could definately teach lessons to viewers. Young or old. Since Pokemon is so prone to teaching 'life lessons' about friendship and trust and whatnot, I don't see why they can't step it up a bit.

I kinda agree with Pokemon_Veteran. Pok?mon is meant to be a children's series for kids around 10 years of age. Things like life-threating violence is all too common around the world, so personally, I appreciate that the creators haven't changed their methods. I also find blood and violence of the sort boring. I see it quite enough from the games that I used to play, as well as some current shows and other animes.

And Pok?mon getting more mature? I already see it in the process. Ash isn't like what he was in the beginning. Brock seems to be more in tune with his breeder instincts. Ash's attitude towards May and Max is astounding. If Ash hasn't changed, he'd always get angry at the two. May for being a whiner about Pok?mon, and Max for being a know-it-all.

There IS a more mature Pokemon cartoon in Japan, it was a comic based cartoon.

There are 3 Pokemon cartoons in Japan.
1. Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation
2. Pokemon Hossou
3. ??? (the mature one that's comic based, I forgot what its called)

I think it could be more mature... maybe some more violence.
Give Team Rocket some guns or something. And make them succeed more often. I would like to see Jessie and James take a Pokemon to the boss and no one would ever give it back.
Blood... as long as there isn't that much. :/

Make Pokemon die in battle. That would step it up. Personally I dont think I'd like it though. It's sad when characters die.

Romance... nah. *can't see it happening* Not in Pokemon. Blame the childness of the show XD

~ nayana_1120 needed an ending ><

I'd like to see more "shippiness" and stuff like that on the show. I don't want blood or death or anything like that. :/ I think maybe some mild swearing every once in a while when it's natural would be ok. Just make the characters a little more real!

The only mature word i heared in pokemon was the word "sex" from Movie 2 but that is about it, even if it was use the right way in the movie, it is still a Surprise to me that the censors let the word though.
