A Pokemon Return

Right, so I was clearing out my stuff at my parents' before they move, and found a GBA SP, Pokemon Blue & Gold.

The Gold's never been played by me, and the save battery's gone, and my Blue still has my save - 149 Pokemon, only Electabuzz (and Mew) absent...

Anyway, I'm getting back into Pokemon: how do I best go about doing this?

I've decided on a DS Lite, but which games are best to get for the full experience? I was thinking the 'director's cuts' (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) and possibly LeafGreen. No 'new' Yellow was released, right?

I'd skip out on LeafGreen. Those third versions are a good start though! Though I'd get HeartGold or SoulSilver instead of Crystal at this point. And I recommend Pokemon White as well. Most people have migrated to Black and White, seeing that it's the newest. Anyway, if you have more questions about these games, please use their respective Q&A threads. For example, questions about Crystal would go in the Metal/Color Q&A thread, Emerald in the Advance Generation, etc. :) Any other questions you can ask me and I'll be happy to help.
