A question about Gen 4/5 ROM hacks

    I've been getting more and more into ROM hacks and wondering, is it possible for the Gen 4 and 5 games to one day get the Inclement Emerald/Radical Red treatment? I've heard that those games had some sort of limits to them built-in, so I'm just asking as an outsider looking in. Sorry if this isn't the place to ask.
     
    I didn't quite understand this question due to my bad English but I'll try to answer it anyway. If your question is literal, then yes, but maybe that won't happen. Now, if you meant if a romhack of that style can be made in DS, which is what I understood, it may not hurt to know the answer to this question since you like to know things about romhacking: As such... Yes, one can. But right now that's very difficult. Unlike the development of the GBA romhacks, not much is known about the DS romhacks, just most of the essential stuff, and it would be hard to implement some features from Inclement Emerald / Radical Red or main 3DS games to DS, especially to Gen. 5. However, there 's one big advantage that DS has over GBA and that is that it can be expanded up to 512MB which is a ton of free space, but as I said not much is known about DS romhacking, which means not just anyone can pull off such a romhack yet.     You explained it pretty well, thanks a lot! I've just heard from some other ROM hackers I follow that to add later Pokémon, you'd have to take some out, so I didn't know if it was entirely impossible forever (at least not without rebuilding the entire game from scratch), or if it would just take more time for people to know more. Thanks again!
