Unova wasn't the first region to not have Team Rocket try to take over it, however, what if the creators went back to its roots and got Team Rocket to actually plan a takeover, once Team Plasma was defeated?

The reason this comes to mind is in Icirrus, a former Team Rocket member mentioned that they intended to takeover Unova but changed his mind. Keep in mind that the fifth generation was supposed to be a parallel of generation one. It would have been the perfect time to bring back Team Rocket after staying hidden through your journey of two other regions.

• How would've a Team Rocket takeover played out? Storyline-wise, where would this fit in?
• Would have you preferred to have Team Rocket appear a bit, or maybe even fight Team Plasma for rights of the region?
• What could have Team Rocket done to Unova that Team Plasma couldn't?

This is the sort of discussion that demands creativity, as it was always pretty unlikely. But I think it's pretty cool to imagine. What does everyone else think? How would've this occurred?

If Geovani was still incharge it would be more of a economic/political takeover. Use team plasma as a springboard to sell their products. Make them seem like a cult that requires the protection from using team rocket as auxiliary police. Use the finances to kickstart their gambling racket of the big stadium and small court matches. Set up pokemon "orphanages" for pokemon stolen by team plasma but unable to find the orginal trainer or abandoned in general, brainwash those pokemon and sell them at underground casinos at black city. Basically the usual things team rocket was already doing before mewtwo destroyed their research lab.

If neo-team rocket admins were in charge, team plasma would just use them as PR fodder and the gym leaders would crush them very fast.

That'd be pretty... smart. I'd like to think that Team Rocket would trick Team Plasma into doing their dirty work, but I think TP is way smarter than TR. Although... I like the orphanages idea though, and maybe in White Forest you'd have Team Plasma representatives telling people to release their Pokemon into the forest for a better life, when on the outskirts of the forest you'd have Team Rocket waiting with nets for every Pokemon. I think it'd be cool if they worked together though. c:
