I don't know if this has been done before, and I also have no clue if this is the right place to put it but I just felt like getting this off my back, because, unsurprisingly, this community has influenced my life in a very positive way.

When I first joined this forum I was around 11-12 years old, still immature and still not knowing what the hell to do with my spare time. The main reason I joined this forum is the same as a lot of other people, ShinyGold. So that pretty much got me into rom hacking and also a little bit of game development, because back then I was obsessed with Pokemon (still am a tad :P). I hung around those forums for I guess a solid 2 years, providing my input in things, releasing a few rom bases, tiles etc, and also a couple of hacks that always looked promising until a week later when it was ended (IcyBlue I think was the most anticipated one of them all). That part of the forums actually got me into computing and technology, I became interested in scripting and a lot of things to do with technology, but it isn't the IT aspect that got me posting here.

I saw a couple of people in those forums had some pretty sweet signatures (in my immature, young eyes), which really got me thinking about all forms of art (even though I was already a little passionate in Photography). From there I decided I would move away from hacking, and into graphics, photography and a little pixel art. That's when I met someone (Ryuki I think :S. I can barely even remember the name, just know he was from Singapore xD) who got me into Graphics by telling me about the free program GIMP. And that's where it all started, I made some pretty horrific tags back then, but due to the fact the Graphics & Photography section was so popular and friendly, I was getting a TONNE of feedback, telling me about the different aesthetic aspects. And I don't know if it was destiny or something, but sooner or later I found out that in one of my dads CD cases, there was an old copy of Adobe Photoshop 7, and that was kind of a big step and evolution in my art. From there I regularly started contributing to the Graphics forums, took up Pixel Art heavily (never succeeded too much) and incorporated my newly learnt art talents into the Hacking forum through the release of many different Rom Bases and palettes.

And I don't know if this all turned out to be fate, but I realised around 1-2 years ago that Visual Arts was where I wanted to go with my life. I ended up creating SOTW (on an old account) which bloomed quickly and while being a new fun thing in these forums, actually helped me learn so much from others, and I really wouldn't be where I am now without them. I've taken up all forms of art, learnt a lot about music, literature etc.

I just finished Year 12, and my Studio Arts folio was apparently one of the best the school has ever seen, I got an overwhelming amount of positive comments, the school asked for my photos and graphics pieces so they could hang them around the school, and one teacher even asked if I could print a book out for her.

But in a nutshell, I just want to thank everyone that I've conversed with in this community, and especially those who might remember Arlen/Monkeyandhead/Crashink/Punkrocker, because I wouldn't have come as far as I have without you guys ;)

Just something I wanted to say.
