3rd Gen action replay or gameshark?

im gonna buy one of these cheating devices for gameboy so i can use it to get Jirachi and latias in ruby(curse that pre-order junk for colleseum. at the time i wasnt into pokemon so now that i am its too late to get the bonus disk)

but moving on just wondering which one is better Action Replay or Gameshark for the GBA

Well chances are it'll just be GSSP or AR. You don't see many GSAs around in stores anymore...I don't anyways.

Both have the code save function which can come in handy if you're using the Pokemon Calculator and both can connect to your PC to download codes off the internet.

I don't know much about GSSP, but people here on the PC seems to know more codes for AR than GSSP since everyone is requesting codes for GSSP and rarely ever does a request get answered for GSSP. And the "Upgrading GSA to AR" section of the R/S FAQ says that GSSP is inferior to the AR.

The GameShark Advance and the Action Replay were created by the same company, Datel. Datel created the device for the US market under the GameShark name until it was purchased by Madcatz. Madcatz makes a vastly inferior device that is capable of using the same codes as the CodeBreaker (a cheating device developed by Pelican software). This device was given the title of "GameShark SP" (GS SP).

So...I'd say buy an AR.

gilbertman you can find the bonus disk and the GSA on ebay. I actually found the bonus disk at my local gamestop. I asked if they had any for sale and they found the last one and gave it to me for free. I got my GSA brand new off of ebay for $10 plus shipping.

Reasons to Get an Action Replay:

1. There is more development of codes for the AR than for other devices.
2. The AR is only 17 USD. >>> Alternatively, you could buy a GameShark Advance (not the GameShark SP) at an even cheaper price; then update it to AR v3 (refer to the Upgrade Guide).
3. There are code saves ready to download for the AR here.
4. The AR is compatable with xyzman's executable Pok?mon Calculator (which can be downloaded here). This calculator allows you to customise and create any Pok?mon of your choice (along with a code save).
5. The AR comes with easy-to-use PC software. This allows you to connect your AR to your PC to download code saves or to copy and paste codes into your AR.
6. The AR is compatable with almost all GBA flash carts (when only one game is on the pak).
