2nd Gen activating item holds

Hey guys,

I have a question, that I could not find in the forums.

Is there any way to activate x-speed,att,def...... guard spec, dire hit, or any other hold items in battle at all?

I was also wondering if there was anyway to force a held pokeflute to activate also.

If there is a way in other future generations can someone state that as well

x speed and such are not hold items you have to use them in bag in all gens

No; Pokemon tend to just stare blankly at man-made items. Key items aren't holdable anyway.

Especially since you don't actually get a pokeflute in GSC. It only appears as a channel in your radio.
