Back with another question! I've been able to kinda sort out my script and get the hang of it. Now I'm working on adding a sort of underground path as in my hack I'm working on, the player has to escape his home through an underground path to the professor's lab. I'm trying to add this map of this very short underground tunnel but I'm trying to get it to be like the rest of the tunnels where it seems like they're on their own layer but I've only been able to figure out how to add a map right next to other maps rather than making them their own space not connected to any of the other routes or towns. Surely I'm missing something obvious!

Maps being "next to eachother" is handled entirely by the concept of map connections; there's no other actual physicality to map location. Therefore in AdvanceMap, you could simply create a new map and not give it any connections to accomplish what you want.
It seems like in HMA you create maps from the connection point. In which case, all you'd have to do is create a map from the connection point as usual, then zoom in to the new map and right-click on said connection and 'remove connection'. The new map will no longer be directly connected to the previous map. Keep in mind the bank and ID you assigned to the map during connection so that you can find it again even though it's in connection limbo
