hi,
i'm very new to romhacking, and i've been trying to add the fairy type to pokemon emerald. i've tried a patch which adds the fairy type (https://www.pokecommunity.com/posts/9120700), and I've tried doing it manually with a tutorial (https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/338037). problem, is, when i do these things, or add pretty much any other patch that i want, PGE freaks out and doesn't want to edit the rom anymore (i get an unhandled exception error). my question is, is there any way to add the fairy type in a way that works nicely with PGE? if not, are there other, similar tools you'd recommend? i tried using G3T, but it doesn't seem to recognize the pokemon, moves, and abilities i already added to the rom using PGE. I know there are a lot of pre-made patches that add new mons, moves, fairy type, etc., but those usually have a lot more content than I really need for my hack, and i want to avoid them if i can help it. any help/tips would be greatly appreciated, and im willing to clarify stuff in case my explanation is too vague. thanks everyone!
