[Game Journal] AGDB - Awesome Games Done Bad

Howdy. Fancy thread to come later, however this is the very overdue Gaming Journal I've been meaning to post for a long time! In this post I'll try, as best as I can, to recap what I am playing and have completed this year, then we'll go from there!

Games currently playing:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Silver Snow/Hard/Classic)
Borderlands 2 (Mechromancer Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode)
Borderlands 3 (FLAK run)
Jade Cocoon
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (All Scenarios)

Games completed:

So a brief rundown on where we are with these.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Silver Snow/Hard/Classic)

Honestly, I've got a bit stuck here. Not because the game is hard, but because I am not sure what to do. For this run, I've decided to recruit all the Ashen Wolves students, as well as anyone I hadn't used in any of my previous runs, to bring them up to a standard that I can easily rush their stats in my Lunatic run.

However, I stupidly used my Renown and THEN decided I would farm infinite Renown, so I have this monumental task and I'm unsure whether I do that or just wait... the run itself is going ahead very well, my Constance has turned into an absolute monster and it's been fun so far!

Borderlands 2 (Mechromancer Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode)

More specifically on this later, however as it stands me and a friend have been co-operatively playing since the beginning and have currently completed up to True Vault Hunter Mode.

Borderlands 3 (FLAK run)

So this is the first time I've played Borderlands 3 co-operatively, this time playing with two other friends. Decided to go with FLAK, as the idea of pets in this series is obviously a theme I'm sticking to. The game has been a nice change from the older games.

Jade Cocoon

A recent pickup and run #24543654 of one of my favourite titles - I've not started yet, as I'm still very much in the planning phase!!! I aim to create the ultimate monster in this run.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (All Scenarios)

So this is one that I am mostly doing with a friend, however we're planning to complete EVERY scenario between us. As it stands, we have completed all of the first set apart from about 4 scenarios.

Awesome Games Done Bad - Ultimate Vault Hell Mode

So the majority of this weekend has been me and my friend smashing through the Borderlands for a third time, as we delve into the new difficulty - Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode! First of all, let's have a gander at Necrosis the Mechromancer, shall we?

Now we had spent a few hours farming The Warrior to get some nice Legendary weapons... only to realise they're useless as the difficulty jumps. The stat difference and lack of damage meant we STRUGGLED towards the beginning... and never really picked up until very recently.

That said, we've managed to clear most of the game and after MANY a death to the hands of the Hyperion robot hordes (seriously, none of them ever die), we are now heading towards the last missions of the game!!!!

I've decided to use a Gaige Anarchy build which abuses the heck out of The Nth Buillet and Anarchy, essentially allow me to bypass Anarchy's accuracy drop by instead firing near enemies and letting my homing bullets work their magic. Picking up the Fibber has super helped, as this gun essentially lets me do around 11x more damage than normal. Combine this with my shield The Bee, which lets me do even more damage with a full shield, and I can shred a lot of enemies at this point in the game.

We're currently farming some helpful weapons to make the transition to endgame a bit easier, namely the Hornet and Unkempt Harold. Both are incredibly high-damage and useful pistols which will hopefully make things a bit easier, fingers crossed!

Current Arsenal:

Our current Shield Killer(tm)

Our Debuff Master, this is the best way for me to apply Slag (an elemental type which lowers enemy defence)

Our Heavy Hitter, this gun fires 9 bullets all doing full damage and shredding mobs apart

And that's it for the weekend! I think we'll be hitting the endgame stuff probably over the week, but will make sure to get updates in here for you!

Oh, also if there's anything you're dying to have me play then just shout and I'll give it a go!

Awesome Games Done Bad - Bordering on Endgame

Well... we did it! We managed to thwart Handsome Jack once more and put an end to our Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode run.

But that is only the beginning. Now we've all the fun endgame content to do! First off was finishing some of the DLC we hadn't touched yet. We delve into a Dungeons and Dragons style adventure in the Tiny Tina DLC. The story still gets me every time, someone using DnD as a method of coping with someone's death... weep.

Well with our newfangled goodies (thank you game for being so buggy we can farm the final boss multiple times), we stormed through the DLC, giving us a new boss to farm. Yay! This is our life now!

There isn't too much else to report unfortunately, we spent the next 6 or so hours farming multiple bosses for either upgrades to our current guns, or new guns we were in need of. Which we've mostly got now! So we're preparing for our first proper Raid Boss to farm - Pete the Invincible! I think we're going to breeze it, we're kinda escalated into powerhouses to be honest.

Otherwise, not much else going on really! I'm hoping to start either Jade Cocoon or Final Fantasy 6 tomorrow, so if you want in as my party members, let me know!

Awesome Games Done Bad - Overpowered? More like Underpowered.

Another weekend gone and another load of Borderlands 2 smashed through!

So firstly, we attempted Pete the Invincible... and then proceeded to "attempt" him several times more, aka murder him several times because it turns out my friend's Gunzerker hit his power spike and melts everything. I'm glad, because up to now I've been carrying the whole time and a break is always nice. So we start our Seraph Crystal farming (this is a currency used to get specific Very Good equipment), grow bored and decide it's time to smash some outstanding DLC for hopefully a quick boost to Level 72 (the current cap we can both hit and therefore the best point to grab equipment, as it will be scaled to the highest possible level).

In one sitting we managed to complete both the Captain Scarlett and Sir Hammerlocke DLCs (both EXTREMELY short and actually pretty boring as a result, these definitely were just tacked on to add more Raid Bosses and therefore weapons etc.), but most importantly this meant unlocking some more Raid Bosses. One in particular was Voraciodous the Invincible, this cutie right here!

So the fight itself has a very annoying mechanic. There is another enemy that spawns with Voraciodous, which will trade shields with it throughout the fight, meaning that occasionally the fight gets ten times harder. This means you have to try and manage not killing the other enemy, whilst whaling on the very big, scary and powerful monster that's constantly jumping at you. Thankfully, we managed to pin the monster down to be attacking only one person, whilst the other opened up their full arsenal and blitzed it to death. And even better - it dropped what we needed on the first kill! Nice! With that out of the way, it was time to do a bit of grinding to reach that level 72.

A few more Raid Boss repeats later and we had finally hit the esteemed Level 72, which means it's time for the last challenge of the game - Digistruck Peak! This is The endgame content for Borderlands 2 - it is essentially waves of enemies which once defeated, will allow you to progress to the next difficulty, known as "Overpowered X (all the way up to 8". Think of this as Borderlands on steroids. Guns suddenly start spewing out literal BILLIONS of raw damage, HP levels skyrocket and loot goes insane. Truly a test for any Vault Hunter.

And that's something we are going to leave until our next mammoth session, as we'll definitely not be able to put this down once we've started!

Until next time, gamers <3
