Age users

Ho-hum...I'd say that 14 is a fair figure for an average, although one should note that age is by no means the same as maturity. (And no, I'm not trying to insinuate anything about you, Melissa. xD) On these forums alone I've found people who are still pretty much in the late "kiddie ages" (12-13ish) whom I still consider equals on an intellectual level while at the same time I've seen people who are adults by age yet act about as mature as the little kids from the daycare center I used to work at. ~_~ As for the average pokémon fan...I have no idea as there is a remarkably wide age spread. Just skimming the list of tournament winners from the recent tour in America you can find people all the way from 11 and 12 to well over 20, and I do know that pokémon is also still something of a big thing among small kids, at least around here, as there were plenty of pokémon fans at the daycare center I mentioned, and they were like ages 5 to 7. So yeah. ^^

And for the record, I'm 18, as anyone who can be bothered to take a look at the 'Age' field of my profile can quite plainly see, so I guess that places me among the younger ones of the older half of this community's members.

I'd guess I'm above average. I'm one of those who got into Pokemon in the RBY days and never lost enthusiasm for it, unlike most of my age group who did play it and then stopped.
I'm in the same boat. I am 15 by the way.

Well, I Guess, Kids Below 10 Like It, Watch The Show, Mabey Play The Games, Generally. I Guess Most Of The "Real" Fans Are Around 10-14.. But I'm 17. I've Liked It Since I Was Around 11? I Guess?

I've been into pokemon game ever since R/B came out in 98 then Yellow in 99...

I was into, G/S/C as well....I never liked R/S/E...But I like the manga on it. Although I only read bits and pieces...But it looks promising.

But I like the manga, and games. I had never liked the anime...Im 17 years of age BTW. Im going to be 18 in july

I've been a Pokemon fan since 98', and I believe I was 7 or 8 years old when I started getting into it.

Now I'm just about 17, and I still have a large interest in Pokemon, so I'm one of the few people who never grew out of it. X3

Actually, judging from how well Pokemon games sell, I think I can safely assume
many of them are teenagers and possibly adults, since the series HAS been around for 10 years...

Although I think too many people judge this based off the anime-watchers, not the game-players, because I believe younger people tend to watch the anime rather than play the games.

Yay! Older people! *grabs Toothache and dances with him*

I think that many people 'grow out' of Pokemon. When I was a freshman in high school, many of my friends loved Pokemon, and they routinely played the TCG at lunch and recited TR's motto. Heck, some of them were even Pokeshippers. XD Then after that year they all stopped liking it. In fact, later on when they found out that I still liked it, they made fun of me liking it. =P

Hehe, steady on, we've only just met.

And yeah, most people seem to 'grow out of it', as the term goes. Maybe it's just cos I'm a big kid at heart. I'm a typical Capricorn.

I've been into it since I watched the anime...then I got into the R/B/Y games. Thinking about it, that is ages ago. I must've been about 8. There was a period between about a few years ago until about 3 weeks ago where I disliked it and thought I'd grown out of it but I, um, "un-grew" out of it?

I'd say that the average Pokémon fan is around 15 and 16 years. There can be some that are older, or younger.

As for I... look at my profile. I'm 20, and still madly into it. :o

I was a pokemon fan maybe when I was around 5 maybe. Don't remember but I'm 12 now.

Pokemon's kind of dead where I live so I can't really tell. There are a few of us older (16-20) kids who cling to the games.

I was a Pokemon fan when it came out in 1996... and now I'm 16.
I truely am what you call "the Pokemon age".

But no one else around me here plays it, and most people I know who do play Pokemon are Japanese net-buddies.

Most of them are over 19.

I'm still a fan and could possibly see myself growing out of it but not anytime soon.

One day (my birthday) my mom brought me to walmart and bought a gameboy and pokemon red... not blue... I forget, but once of those. I loved it so much, then the pokemon craze came and I got into the card game. Me and my friend would trade cards while we played a linked cable battle. Then the pokemon craze died and people asked "why an't you gots none Yo-gi-oh cards". I could not find one person who still played the games or the cards. =(

Yeah, the pokemon card scene has definietly died down but you should try yugioh its not a bad game

It is probably not the most accurate to be asking this question in PC, as Naminé sees this place as mostly a gathering of teenagers, even outside of the Pokemon section. In the Pokemon TCG tournaments, it's evident that there are some adults who are into the fad as well, although they're a rarity. The average age, as mentioned by Ms. Lily, are probably teenagers. Naminé guesses that those who love Pokemon beyond elementary will most likely stick to Pokemon for a very long time too. If they are not afraid of peer pressure of teasing due to liking Pokemon, then they probably really like it~

*reads your post for two seconds*

Holy crap you're annoying.

And the average age of the pokefan depends on what the medium is. If it's the TV show, it's gonna be about 11 or 12 (meaning, anyone older than that needs a life.) The pokemon videogame, however, is a different story. It's a solid RPG (or it used to be) and can be loved by people of all age, but again, it's usually the younger kids that play it. I could go for some steak right now.

I'd say thatn fans of the anime could be fairly young, Maybe 7+
The games are probably about 10+

You cant really take the average on a forum, because not many younger kids are allowed to go to or have access to a forum.

Most of the kids probably grow out of it, or never really had that much interest in it.

i think pokemon is hard to find an average age group lol.
people are attracted to different asspects of it, so that would make it harder. :)
it would be good to get an average though :P

Yeah I agree. I used to watch the anime on Sky One when it first came out, but now I don't find it that good anymore.
As for the games (the RPGs, not the other ones), I've gone mad for it since I was about 13 (my memories are hazy).
So there's no actual average age to Pokemon, and they haven't died out on me yet!:P
