On September 29th, 2009, the music world may possibly change forever.

Paramore'd third new album, Brand New Eyes, which is a follow up to their extremely popular 2007 album, Riot!, is said to be one of the best alternative rock albums in the past 5 years. The band has already released one single from the upcoming album, Ignorance, which has had a very successful amount of critism.

Meanwhile, Alice In Chains releases their first new album in 14 years, one of the longest follow ups to a new album by a band since Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy. It is also the first album to feature vocalist William DuVall, who has taken the place of the late Layne Staley, who died of a Heroin overdose in 2002. Two singles have already been release, A Looking In View, which had reached number 12 on the charts, and the more popular Check My Brain, which climbed to Number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Charts.

Whose album do you think will do better? I personally think Paramore, do to their success over the past few years, even though Alice In Chains is my favorite band and really deserves it overall.

I'm sorry but how can you compare?
Paramore are simply amazingly different to Alice in Chains.
(btw this shouls be in Other Entertainment)
But simple, I cant compare, different genres *coughsingergendersdiffertoo*.
So I'm afraid I can't decide on this "battle of the bands" thread.
Try picking two bands actually in the same sort of league next time.
For example, compareing old time bands like Metallica to the new age metal bands like Bullet For My Valentine or the likes.

The Above Poster is really correct

I think they will both reach a good amount of success, as paramore being great.

however for alice in chains, i dont really think they should have continued when layne died, its just not the same, and in my eyes its ruining his name, because in all reality he WAS alice in chains

I don't believe he's comparing the bands, but comparing the success of the two yet-to-be released albums. If you compare them in the sense of how much money each will produce, I think I might vote Paramore. Even though the band is still pretty much early in their career, they already have a huge fanbase. Alice In Chains, while also having a large fan base, might not be as successful with this album because of the simple change in vocalist. Some people have a hard time dealing with change and are very close minded. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if people were to blame this for not purchasing the album.

Agreed. Both bands have been around at different times too, and as you mention, they differ in genres. Staley isn't around anymore, so it's really hard to say...

I really don't like Paramore for my own reasons so I'll have to go with Alice In Chains
