All the video game rivals personalities.

I just noticed that all the rivals seem to have a special personality that makes that one special...

Gary- calm/cook and confident

crystal- agressive, mean heated

wally- shy and quiet

barry- allways in a rush, never sits still.

I guess this is just a place I made to chat about the rivals.



The only one I dislike is Wally, not that hes bad. he's actualy pretty good He just needs to pop in and battle you more often. The only times I remember fighting him were Infront of the mauville gym and in victory road... but you get the idea right? So when they make the rse remakes thats one thing that needs improoving

With barry He was pretty nice Not sure theres much to complain about, hes pretty everage.

crystal (thats his nickname if im right) Is MY FAVORITE music wise

(unless may/brendan counts as a rival, then they have him beat at music)

I like how his agressive nature allmost seems like a threat to your adventure.

gary- not much I can do here, I've never personaly owned a game with him as the rival, but my brother has fire red with him in it.

On another note I was dissapointed that I couldnt get the satisfaction of beating the snots out of paul from the anime in any of the games.

But on topic with my thoughts on the rivals, in order of generation.

Blue/Green/"Gary": A good example of how a rival should be. Not fond of overly-cocky characters, though. 9/10

Silver: A complete monster -- in a good way. He has more of a villain-y vibe than the other rivals so far. Maybe too much... 8/10

Ruby/Brendan or Sapphire/May: Trite. Too nice to be rivals. More like a person who checks up on you. But I admit the niceness is a change from the previous gens. 4/10
Wally: I dunno if I can get this kid pity points [for what I assume he's suffering from asthma] -- but the kid tries and is determined despite his sickness. Still too nice, though, 6/10

Pearl/Barry: This kid needs to stay away from the sugar. He's nice, but still poses a "Imma beat chu" attitude. 7/10


Call me sadistic or whatever, but I'd prefer if Paul was in D/P/PT as well so that I can beat him into a bloody pulp.
Can't stand people like that, either....

Wrong section? No, it's fine right here actually, unless it's already been moved and that mod didn't post anything, haha. Anyway, I enjoyed all the rivals, except for Brendan/May. They pop up more than Wally, plus they have a starter, so I've always thought of them as the RSE rival and Wally as just a colleague. Crystal? lol, his name is Silver. ;) And he's sexy my favorite rival, along with Cheren in BW...if he's a rival. He's good looking, so he's just gonna be my favorite everything. ;)

Gary's music was the best though, for the Champion battle I mean.

Brendan/May sucked as rivals because they gave up the ghost at Lilycove without even having a final evolution for their starter.

Barry was good for experience but I hated his hyper attitude.

Gary/Blue and Silver were the best because they weren't all buddy-buddy with you. They wanted to mop the floor with your face and didn't hesitate to let you know that fact. IMO, that's what a rival should be - not some childhood buddy who's only your rival because they started training at the same time you did.

brendan/may make up for most of wallys absence. When they do finally make the r/s remake I hope he gets more screen time =D

I like having Gary/Blue and Silver as rivals. Gary/Blue is all confident and whatnot, while Silver is rather arrogant, making them suited for the rival role. Wally isn't cut out to be a rival, IMO, because he's just too nice. Barry/Pearl was okay for a rival, though.
