Alone, or with Others?

The genre and connectivity of a game really decides that for me. In a FPS with multiplayer (so basically every FPS) or a sports game I prefer to play with friends. Same with MMORPGs. It's way better to play with friends and just have fun while playing games.

However, when it comes to offline RPGs I always play alone. I like to sit down, zone out, and become part of the world when I play. I don't think I've ever played games like Skyrim with other people present. It just ruins the illusion of immersion and takes away from the experience in my opinion. Although, occasional hilarious glitches do occur and sometimes I wish someone else could have seen it. :P

It depends on the game, but usually I prefer playing with friends. When I'm extremely focused on completing a level, an extra player tends to be a distraction and I'd rather attempt to finish it on my own. Otherwise, the multi-player option, if available, will be utilized by me at some point, haha. I just cherish it when you can share the game with another, and games like Mario Party/Kart, Super Smash Bros, and CoD, are all significantly enhanced with multi-player. Some, like Pokemon, would be confusing if there was an option to play with multiple people, and of course in that case it's understandable. I like that more games are trying to implement the multi-player option, though. I think it ups the value of games more than developers think.

I usually play alone as the games I play are mostly single player. But I do love playing some co-op, especially in games that are made for co-op. Dead Island for example is bland and boring solo, but with a few friends quickly turns into a fun Action RPG. Or beat em ups. Scott Pilgrim was really fun in co-op.
