Question: Alternate Accounts?

Before I knew about PC, I frequented the Minecraft Forums. Well, I don't anymore, but while I did, I learned that ALT accounts are mainly for Trolling and extra followers. When I moved forums to here, I saw people proudly displaying their ALT accounts on their sigs, and in posts. Are ALT accounts used for a specific purpose? Are they just for fun? What are they?

Well in the past they were used to reserve usernames when name changes were occuring (so they weren't stolen), now people make them to show off new themes, try new profile styles or just to post around somewhere new and not feel as intimidated or something like that. But otherwise yeah no real use :x

And since our rules say you can't pretend to be someone else on them aka sockpuppet or bypass bans, then yeah there's not much that can be done other than for stylistic purposes.

Like me, for example? I did that because I WANT others to know which my main account/alt were, because I'm not pretending to be someone else. And of course I didn't make this one to troll or find extra followers.

Are ALT accounts used for a specific purpose? Are they just for fun? What are they?

Aside from what forever said, there's still the purpose of having a new username. That's the reason I made this alt.
Since username changes are no longer allowed, and some people want to change their usernames but simultaneously do not care about their posts or whatever name their account built, they just make a new one with the desired username and keep browsing as they always do. And as mentioned before, we do not pretend to be someone new.

Some people also make alt accounts because they want a different username, or just for the fun of it. Regardless of the reason, alt account creation isn't against the rules. What is against the rules is, like Forever said, if you pretend to be someone else on your new account. As long as you act normal, and maybe add somewhere in your sig / profile that it's an alt, you should be fine.
