    Up until recently I never realised Pikachu was actually a mouse.
    How bad is that?
    I mean hey I thought he may have looked like a gerbil but it never crossed the mind.
    I may go and drown myself for my lack on common sense.
    Hmm come to think of it there may be other pokémon who are quite obviously an animal.
    Hmm the Legendary Gerbil theory...
     
    Well, it DOESN'T really look like a mouse. And you'd have to speak Japanese to know that Pikachu basically means "sparkle mouse." So fair enough!

    BTW, Pachirisu is a take-off of Pikachu meaning "crackle squirrel," just so you don't miss that one too. ;)
