Welcome to Anime Karaoke Party! I'll be your hostess, Shuko! :D This is a club dedicated to the proliferation and celebration of the wonder that is Anime Karaoke! If you love to sing, and you love anime, this is the place for you! If you love JPop or JRock, this is the place for you! If you've never tried Karaoke of any kind before, but think it could be fun to try to sing that song you like from that particular series, then this is definitely the place for you! All you need is a pair of ears and a love of good music, and you'll be accepted! You can be a reviewer if you prefer, but everyone is encouraged to submit their own pieces, regardless of how bad you think you sound. It takes a lot of guts to present your voice to the world, and regardless of whether you sound like Pavaratti or Urkel, there won't be any naysaying about it here. So let's get this party started! Let's Karaoke!
------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, some groundrules. This is the prerequisite to any good club, so bear with me, and please read all of the following before posting anything here:
1. Respect others and their feelings. It doesn't matter if you think their voice sounds like a cat in a blender, you have no right to be rude to them. Honest criticism is important, but it is also important to remember that the point of karaoke is not to become the next American Idol; it's to have fun. Violations of this rule will result in immediate suspension of club membership.
2. Have fun! Karaoke is all about getting together with buddies and having a good time. You don't have to have an awesome voice. The only weapons you need are a sense of humor and a love for music.
3. Only post clips of karaoke from one or more of these categories: JPop (Japanese Pop), JRock (Japanese Rock), JRap (Japanese Rap), or Anime music (Can be in any language, as long as it's anime. :)).
4. Only post music YOU sing in. You can post music that has more than one singer, but only if one of them is you. You may NOT take credit for someone else's singing. That is akin to plagiarism, and will not be tolerated. Violations of this rule will result in immediate suspension of club membership.
5. It is against the PC rules to post links to another website, and this rule still holds true for Karaoke sites. If you own a Karaoke website (and even if you don't own it), you may not post a link to it here. You may, however, post some of the files you've created here (the song files, that is). Some leeway is given to sites that are specifically used to host your music files. (Most of these sites do not support direct linking). Linking to your profile page in that respect is okay, but if you link to anything else, you will receive a warning to edit your post. If you do not edit out the offending link within the span of 3 days, you will be banned from the club. Just remember: files up to 2mb can be attached to your post. If you can compress your song to less than 2mb, then just attach it to your post. Don't worry about posting a link. :P
6. For reasons listed in rule five, links to Karaoke resources of any kind (i.e. sound mixers, instrumental songs, stores to buy merchandise) are forbidden. I understand however, that it isn't easy to get started in this fun hobby, because there are a few components that you absolutely have to have, and you may not know where to find them. If you have any questions about where to locate some or all of the resources you need, you can PM me and ask me for my recommendations, and I'll do the best I can to help you. As we get more members, we may dig up a few more people who can help out in this respect as well. But do not request these things in your posts, and don't advertise them either.
7. Any rules pertaining to PC and the Other Clubs forum are ALWAYS in effect.
8. I have the final say in any dispute. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. I will do my best to be democratic and fair, but keep in mind that whatever happens, it is to be in the club's best interests. If you spam up this thread with advertisements, insults, or fraudulent posts, you have lost your privilege to post here, and will be banned. Period. There will be no disputing this after the fact. You may take it over my head if you so choose, but if you've done any of the above, not even the Moderators will take your side. You have been warned.
All right. Enough with the rules. Let's get started!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips and hints:
I will be updating this section as more information becomes available to me. This is information that I think anyone who'd like to do anime karaoke should know.
What you need:
You will need several things to do anime karaoke. First, and most important, is a voice. Karaoke is a japanese word that means "Voiceless." It's almost a slangy term over there pertaining to music without voice. In any event, without your voice, you won't be able to sing, and without singing, there'll be no karaoke!
Another thing you need is a microphone. You can record your voice in many different ways, but the most common is a regular PC desktop microphone. With it, you'll be able to record your voice for everyone to enjoy.
You'll also need some kind of music editing software, if you intend to set your voice to accompaniment. This can present a problem, as it is difficult to find good quality music editing software without purchasing it. I'm currently looking into options right now, but feel free to PM me with any suggestions, questions, comments you have. If you don't want to set your voice to music, that's fine; you can always go acapella if you choose. :P
Recording Tips:
A good rule of thumb when recording your voice is to cover your microphone with some kind of static absorber before you use it for recording. This can easily be done by putting a sock over it. :P You'd be surprised at how much "blow static" it'll cut out by doing this.
Sing loudly and clearly as close to the microphone head as possible. And try to do it in an environment that has very little background noise.
