Another Brick in the Wall

My name is Tim. I'm currently 24 years old, and I've been a fan of Pokemon since 1998, when Red and Blue reached the states. I didn't really follow Pokemon through Gold/Silver or Ruby/Sapphire, but my girlfriend got me back into the games in 2004 with the release of LeafGreen and FireRed. Since then, I've bought Emerald, Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, and White.

Concerning video games in general, I grew up a Sega fanboy first, then started to appreciate Nintendo with the release of the N64. I have a deep admiration for both companies, and there are several other studios I've since come to like as well. That said, I've found gaming tremendously unsatisfying since the Dreamcast died, and am not the gamer I once was. Pokemon is one of the few franchises that has never let me down.

I'm only a casual fan of Pokemon, but I do enjoy other topics. Most often you will probably see me talking about Politics and Philosophy, but I also like music (mainly Metal, Prog, Classical, and Jazz), Movies, and Literature.

As to other info about me, I was a Philosophy/English major in college, and I have limited experience in law school, but haven't yet decided whether to continue studying it (I may instead opt for a grad degree in Philosophy). I've been foruming since 2004, and moderated several forums, so I shouldn't cause any of you too much trouble. I currently go to a Zelda forum, but haven't branched out much. I'm hoping this forum will change that.

    Glad to be here!

Just another brick in the wall, huh? Why do I suddenly hear Pink Floyd...?

Haha, I started off as a Sega fan myself, and the N64 was the first Nintendo system I ever owned aside from the old gray Gameboy. I think I've still got that brick lying around somewhere. But hey, don't worry, you don't have to be a die-hard gamer to enjoy yourself around here.

If Politics and Philosophy is your game, you're going to love our off-topic boards. I know, it sounds a little weird to suggest off-topic boards on a Pokémon forum. I think you'll find they're actually pretty interesting places though. Give 'em a try. :]

Welcome aboard, Tim. Shoot me a message if ya have any questions or just wanna chat.

It always gives me that fuzzy, warm-hearted feeling inside when people say they their girlfriend got them into Pokemon, or when a girl says that. It makes me feel one of those "dayyum, I want someone like that" feelings, so you must be lucky. Well, aside from my jealousy invading your welcome thread, hi, and welcome aboard! :D

I'm actually unsure what gaming platform I started on. All I know is that I did own and play a Super Nintendo when I was really young, like 2 or 3 years old. Those were the good times, playing all those little Mario Games a lot when I was young. I even still have that console somewhere, just stored away, which sucks, since I'm not allowed to set it up. Maybe I should just buy a golden pillow and place it on there. :P

This forum may be able to change your foruming stuffs now, but I don't know. This is my first forum, and I just can't really get away from it. I've tried visiting other forums, but I just can't seem to stay active on them. I'll thank this place for giving me a tolerance level for people who troll, can't spell properly or use proper grammar. I mean, this one forum I was on when I visited the Graphics section, even the moderators were bad with this sort of thing. It really made me stop going to that forum. :(

Enough about my depressing life, tell me a bit about yourself! How did you find this forum? Are you one of those guys who only came here for the ROM hacking section and maybe Shiny Gold? You don't seem like that sort of person, but you never know these days. :)

Have an awesome time here while you're here! :D

    Welcome aboard Tim!

I can´t help myself but somehow the words "Pokémon fan" and "girlfriend" don´t mix with me unless you put "does not have a" inbetween them. Haha, that´ probablly just my case though.

Anyways, drop me a line sometime, hope you enjoy your stay!

welcome to the threads tim, it never hurts to take a chance and 'roll the bones' with something new

Welcome to the forum, Timmy (is is okay to call you that?).
I wish for your enjoyment in this kewl place. :D
As for me, I never owned a console, I wish I did... :(

Its great you got on-line of Pokémon after... 6 years! :)

Thanks for the welcomes! n__n In my short time at this forum, I've already noticed it's very friendly, which I appreciate.

I already have, actually; it was the first place I posted. My views can be a bit controversial, but like I said I have been a moderator so I try to be respectful. It's good to see that those forums are active, and people are reasonable there!

I'll definitely PM you if I have any questions.

Haha, thanks! I actually am incredibly lucky, and I'm really looking forward to us getting married. We have common interests in pretty much everything, so I think we'll have a lot of fun. Pokemon's one of the standout things we have in common, so I hope they keep making quality Pokemon games.

Sounds like a plan! Yeah, my first game was actually Wolfenstein 3D for the PC, then I got an NES with Super Mario Bros...but the Genesis turned me into a gamer, so I always say that got me started because it's pretty much true. Lots of nostalgia for Mario games, though...I think most kids who grew up in the 80's and 90's probably have that. :)

Yeah, it seems very common to be unfriendly on places like this. Fortunately, there are little oases on the internet where people believe in decency, and I think this forum is one of them.

Enough about my depressing life, tell me a bit about yourself! How did you find this forum? Are you one of those guys who only came here for the ROM hacking section and maybe Shiny Gold? You don't seem like that sort of person, but you never know these days. :)

I just found it online, looking up "Pokemon forum." I'd been to Serebii before, and it's fine but not exactly to my taste. I decided I'd stick around here! My girlfriend said she made an account several years ago and, while she hasn't really posted, she thought it was friendly, so I gave it a go. For the most part, though, it was just google. I'm not tech savvy in the least so I'm not here for the ROM hacking forums at all.

Most girls I know have no problem with Pokemon. :P Call of Duty and Halo, on the other hand...

Jin-Roh: Rush reference? Rush is one of my favorite bands, so just checking ;)

Zenith95s: Haha, I generally don't like that, but honestly I don't care much. And yeah, this is long overdue!
