According to victory road.net Pokemon Emerald is a brand new game for GBA. Pokemon Emerald is an addition to the Pokemon 'gem' series, or a Yellow/Crystal to Pokemon Ruby/Pokemon Sapphire. Other than almost being identical to Ruby/Sapphire, Pokemon Emerald will have the following changes:
Same Trainers, but with different clothes.
Pokemon have there own unique animation upoun entering battle.
Story takes place in Hoenn.
A Full Tournement Mode.
Complete the tournament with 3 Pokemon.
Groudon and Kyogre are both in the game.
Team Magma and Team Aqua are both in the game.
Sometimes when challenged to a battle, another trainer will decide to join in.
Many New Areas in Pokemon Emerald.
Battle Frontier is the name of a new area.
Comes With Wireless Adapter.
Japan Release Date: September 16th 2004
North American Release Date: MAY 2005
