I decided to build a new team, taking some suggestions from a site called PokéBattle. So far it's only got analyses of every Pokémon revealed, but it also has a growing list of movesets that more people could take notes from. Anything from PokéBattle, I'll be denoting with an asterisk next to the nickname. Anyway, I've started using this here team on PO.
Criticism is appreciated, folks.
Spoiler:
Bird Therapy (Swanna) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Defog
- Ice Beam
- Air Slash
- Rain Dance
Bird Therapy is to Defog as Shantae is to prehensile hair. Ice Beam and Air Slash can handle any moves that neither resists them nor has an Assault Vest. Rain Dance is there to give him recovery via Hydration.
Stardust (Steelix) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
Curse + Gyro Ball = stronk as heck, even on other Steel types. Dragon Tail kicks threats out of Stardust's way, while Earthquake is his other STAB option. I chose Life Orb for that extra power.
Eliza* (Smeargle) (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Spore
- Sticky Web
- Magic Coat
- Stealth Rock
Since Pygmalion is a male Smeargle in terms of how I name them, I guess I would nickname a female one after the eponymous movie's heroine.
On a more serious note, she's my set-up lead. Step one: Spore. Step two: Place webbing and rocks to cripple anyone switching in. Plan B: Bounce stat moves back with Magic Coat. Simple but effective.
Mama Loa* (Rhyperior) (F) @ Assault Vest
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Ice Punch
This is basically the Even Solider Rock moveset from PokéBattle's analysis of Rhyperior, and it certainly helps out for tanking Grass, Ice, and Water assaults. In case the pressure is too much, though, I can always switch out to Bird Therapy to soak up those types. Same goes for Electric and Rock, except it's the other way around.
Fluffette* (Sylveon) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hyper Voice
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind
My answer to Dragon types should Ice moves not be enough. I decided to go with PokéBattle's RestTalk set so that Fluffette could rip apart specially biased Pokes with Calm Mind. Hyper Voice is the best STAB move that Sylveon can get with Pixilate, and it hits even harder with boosts. Any condition obtained? REST LIKE A MAN, and then get lucky with Sleep Talk until Fluffette wakes up.
Based Mac (Hitmonchan) (M) @ Assault Vest
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Power-Up Punch
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch
Yes, another AV user. Yes, it's STAB is there to boost attack. Yes, it has priority moves. Oh YES, it has what amounts to a physical BoltBeam. IT'S YOUR TIME, MAC BABY!
